Keck clip questions

Got one from my completely tits transaction with straight glass tubes. Do you just kind of force it onto the g on g joint or is their some mechanism I'm not getting? Or do you strong arm it open?

you force it on... it slips on with a tiny amount of force which causes it to open enough to fit. Put the two glass pieces together, and then just push it onto the joint. Tiny side goes with the male piece. Dont force it open because it will lose its springiness and not be as effective

ive got a use for a keck clip (size 19) that i need to withstand temps higher than 400deg. so i found some metal keck clips that will do just that, but they are kinda pricey. im not sure why they are so hard to find but they are. i found a site that sells them in packs of 6 and the size 19 pack is $44... so less than 10 bux a pop.

anyway, would anyone have a need or be interested in one or two of these metal keck clips? they look very nice on glass! i only need 2, but would be more than happy to split the lot if someone is interested...?

Not sure why I would need a metal keck clip? The one I use now for my bubbler works fine and I never expose it to high temperatures.

They also have teflon keck clips which withstand relatively high temperatures and they would be less prone to scratching glass with repeated use.

yeah those are great, but these clips are going to be attached to a heater cover

and sometimes i turn up the dial pretty high when warming up

some like the look of the metal clip over the plastic

They are stable for use up to 250C but for your use the metal ones you posted sound perfect.

2clicker, did you happen to order those metal keck clips? I was thinking of getting some for the heater cover of my ground glass Silver Surfer.

Too bad you don't need 14mms, because I would totally pick a couple up.

I actually have the 18mm version for my Carbon Filter + Slide I got from Aqualab. My understanding is traditional plastic keck clips are built with heat resistance in mind, but I personally just love the way the metal looks on glass, it looks so much more legit, and I have noticed 0 traces of scratching. I don't see how it could scratch glass any more than a plastic keck would.

Also, I should mention the tightness is superior to plastic kecks from my experience. Plastic one's pull off fairly easily, but this gives a more solid feel overall to anything I'm connecting it with.
