JyARz Storage Containers

Hiya Aldo and fellow jyarz lovers,
I have a quick question, I have 2 classic jyarz that are perfect bud storage for short weekend trips. Now I'd like something with a wider mouth just for ground herb around the house for loading into vapes and yet more travel storage. The classic is too narrow for me using a scoop, enter Satchmo and Chico. The actual volume doesn't matter, and the prices are so close, so those factors don't help me decide. I just want to be able to scoop flowers and get the scoop out with the material in it. I know that the Chico was made for concentrates that are more dry, but the rounded bottom means nothing gets stuck in bottom corners. Or have you all found that not to be a big issue with the Satchmo? I would really appreciate anyone with experience with both models that can take a minute to chime in.

Dear Aldo,

I was very close to ordering 10-20 additional JyARz for friends from your website, but there is a tiny issue - Most parcels here get stuck at Customs and the Officers there tend to look up the received products on the Internet to get an idea about them. Your website mentions Cannabis nowhere, which is great for stealth, but on the "Our Story" page, you write:
In 2011 my friend complained about the smell of his medicinal cannabis.

I understand it is not your problem that some of your potential customers are living in prohibition countries, but could you imagine changing that one sentence t0 something like:
In 2011 my friend complained about the smell of his medicinal herbs.

That would already help a lot and I would love to place my order directly with you instead of buying the JyARz from EU resellers... I could then order them in the name of our company without any fear of eventual trouble.

@pxl_jockey the Chico might me a little small for a scoop too, the satchmo would work, but it's a decent sized container, it would hold a lot of ground material..

@JyARz so I'm not reall worried about new gaskets as mine has always been good in my satchmos. thanks for a quick response and always being down to better your product. By far one of my favorite companies.

Are you still doing the ocean clean up? I usually bring that up when introducing someone to the jyarz

Hi Aldo,

first I love your JyARz very much - all versions. And there are a lot of friends I could excited about these items. But there is one concerning point of construction. It's nice to have the effective shock absorber, which really works when the jar falls to the floor. But I already had to replace two glass inserts the last months. If the JyARz are standing without the lid and fall over the protruding glass of the insert can break pretty easily. It would make sense to heighten the enclosure so that the glass is more protected. It's really annoying when the glass breaks just by falling over on the table otherwise I can throw the closed JyARz to the floor and nothing happens. There is a certain unnecessary imbalance of product security.

I recommend the Satchmo. It'll do you right! -Aldo

I'm working on something that should help with this issue. Your post has me thinking about a new feature. We are going into design and prototyping next week. Please stay tuned.

Good news. Appreciate your efforts!

I'm designing some stylized silicone sleeves for the Classic to appeal to wider customer base. Think funky colors and patterned exterior. Ideally they will also provide additional shock absorption and I'm thinking they can incorporate a mild suction cup in the base to hold the bottle securely when placed on a smooth surface. I don't know if this idea will work but I'm going to give it a try!

Pour out of the classic.
Chico is great for your use and easily holds a lotus scoop. Though this combo is not the best in windy environments. The deeper classic is more resistant to wind intruding and displacing material.

You say volume does not matter, but it does!:science:
For the sake of freshness and preservation, I suggest you opt for the smallest one you can get away with. Less air in your Jyarz=better preservation... though that is kind of moot if you keep opening the lid anyway:) Like GAS, get more than one. one for storage, one for daily.

What scoop are you using?
I don't see it on their site anymore but my favorite scoop is the one Lotus used to sell. It was the perfect size in every way.

It would make sense to heighten the enclosure so that the glass is more protected.

I keep thinking about this but wonder how it might affect functionality.

Aldo has described his system in detail and every part of the current design is functional in that it creates multiple seals to keep the unit totally air tight. The thread design, the gaskets, and the glass height are all working together to keep an absolute perfect seal.

In that way, heightening the enclosure to protect the top of the glass could compromise one of the layers of this system/seal. As it is currently designed, with the top of the glass jyar protruding above the rim of the container, the top ring of the protruding glass is able to fully seat into the gasket in the lid.

Without this glass-on-gasket seal, it may not perform the same.

So should I use Boveda packs in my Jyarz? Which one? How often to swap them? Or is it not necessary at all?

Boveda, why? The smaller ones will fill half the glass insert at least. And how long do you intend to stash your weed in the jar? Months?
If you close your JyARz tight immediately after each use your herbs will stay fresh for weeks w/o any hydration.

Yep, the air sealing seems to be an issue with an insert totally wrapped by the enclosure. It came also in my mind just after posting it. But what to go ever currently it's a little lack of construction safety-wise.

I still store the main fraction of my herb in normal large glass jars with Boveda packs and use the JyARz for my daily/weekly needs, rather than long-time storage.

By the way, @JyARz: I don't want to seem annoying, but do you see a chance concerning my question here: Yesterday at 11:51 AM? Thank you so much in advance for your consideration!

Changed cannabis to herbs ;-) Good idea! Thanks for the reminder. -Aldo

My designer has indicated that creating a suction cup incorporated in a sleeve is practical, so this looks possible.... promising even. -Aldo

Great! Thank you very much!

I have just ordered 16 pieces and am very much looking forward to receive them when the time has come.
They will surely make many people happy! :)

I did not order any red "Classic" JyARz, assuming that your "we will add 1 red for each 2 others for free" offer is still valid?

Tremendous. I saw your order come through a few minutes ago! Thank you very much and yes I'll add the Reds automagically for you. You made my day! -Aldo

Thanks to all who replied! I should have been more specific, apologies! For bigger/long term storage, I use CVaults. I would use a scoop from NewVape around the house, with this container. This would be for ground herb, I usually grind a gram every 1-2 days. But as @FlyingLow says, small as I can get away with: Chico! Also with the round bottom, no corners to deal with. It would be used indoors only, around the house and while a secure lid for clutzy transport from room to room is great, I'm not concerned with freshness because it'll be open plenty.

Ive been using the small space case aluminum container which can just hold a ground-up gram. But it's so full, you risk losing some while loading so something that's a bit bigger is preferable. SC make a medium-sized one but tbh, I like my jyarz better. I like glass better. I used a petri dish to hold my daily dose before I tried a jyarz. I'm sure I will have multiples of all eventually, but can't go crazy on myself so close to the holidays. Thanks again everyone and Aldo for making such a great durable green solution!

Everything goes into Satchmos when it gets home from the guy. I then fill a classic (from each strain if more than one are available) with unground buds. Then I grind between a 1/2g and a g at a time and keep it in a Chico. If it is a tasty strain I will also fill another Chico with small nugs. I usually suck load directly from the Chico with the ground goods. So it ALL goes Satchmo, Classic, Chico and then brain.

Needless to say, Jyarz have become a big part of my daily ritual and I love them. SO much better than the film cans and pill jars I used to use.

@pxl_jockey , good combination. I nearly use the same. But the Pax Loading Tool you mentioned isn't the best choice for the JyARz if you want to store it in. It doesn't fit into the J. Classic, it's a bit too long.
But a great scoop I love to use at home.
For storing in the J.C. @Ratchett 's (Mini) Scoop-N-Poke Vape Tool or the Delta3DStudio Classic JyARz funnel also by @Ratchett are the better choice.

@FlyingLow, two of every colour? Would like to do so but the colours?? Those are really a lack IMO with the exception of black and blue :ugh:

Aldo, isn't it possible to make "clearer", more "stronger" colours?

I actually like the color selection. My favorites are probably the Teal and the Granny Apple Green, tho I have more black and orange than anything. And then Indico Blue and Purple. I don't have any Red, Yellow or Pink. Yet.

@FlyingLow I saw your post in the Lotus thread when it was on top, thanks for asking about their scoop. I couldn't find a picture, lol!

@Hogni I have primarily used my classics for bud storage on trips and they're great in this role. But after hanging out here, I clearly see they can do much more. I'm pretty impressed that some have evolved into a Jyarz ONLY storage system over time. I find it endlessly fascinating how we all have fairly regimented routines in our storage and prep of herb/extracts and approach solutions to common challenges differently. FC has helped me to change and learn and grow; one example: I wouldn't know about Jyarz!

For my needs a JyARz only storage is no way bc of the small amounts they hold. Therefore I'm using CVaults. But for longtime storage it could be interesting to get JyARz with a volume of may be 1l for example if they could be offered for a reasonable price, perhaps with a boveda holder too.

But for small amounts the JyARz are the best stash holders at the market. I have to correct, the best ones seem to be those of Magnus from NZL. But material/pricewise an overkill for sure. Pure luxury for cannasseurs and/or material/processesing fetishists.
