Just bought a Puffco Peak...just took my first rip...I have some questions

Hey everyone, I am new to this forum. Have been a lurker for many years. This was long over due.
I have been an on and off vape guy. I own a Volcano digit vape.. usually smoke joints though. I recently decided to quit smoking and dabbing all together. Have been dabbing with a torch and nail for the past few years and its got pretty bad takin toll on my lungs coughing all day everyday dabbing from morning to night. I rarely smoke joints actually any more as of the last couple years. I have been dabbing only out of a traditional rig. - I am self employed and have a desk job so its easy to do this.

Question: I have been reading that combustion occurs at 500 degrees. The Peak starts at 450 at its lowest setting and goes to 500 plus on green and above. Does that mean when I use green and above this is actually combustion? It sure tastes like some quality vape and not smoke...

Interested to get some perspective on this as everywhere I read on the net it says 500 degrees is not vape.

Yes, the settings go as follows:

LOW (Blue): 450
MEDIUM(Green): 500
HIGH(Red): 550
PEAK(White): 600

Well i know that, burning happens at 500 Celsius. 500 Celsius = 900 fahrenheit

Puffco Peak temp are in Fahrenheit.

The boiling points between dried herb and oil are different, those low combustion points are for the green plant material that has an affinity for burning, with concentrates you'll be vaporizing no matter which setting you use on the Peak as it tops out at 600F.

If thats the case then the chart Akito posted above makes no sense as it says "dabbing" and talks about combustion at 600-900. You say no matter what its vape? ...so many people saying different things all over the net. I am hearing if you dab above 500 you are releasing Benzene. Is this true?

Benzene is a byproduct of terpene degradation, not saying its a health supplement; but people tend to exaggerate about it, in the grand scheme of things people have been inhaling benzene via smoked cannabis for thousands of years. I'd worry more about finding clean concentrates that are produced properly and grown free of unwanted additives and pesticides. That's a harder challenge in todays world.

Keep in mind 600F to 900F is a pretty wide margin. I'm saying you'll be fine no matter what setting you use on your Peak ( I usually use blue or green, for what its worth) I'm not suggesting anybody dab at 900F.

You do realize the temperatures they are referring to are the temps of the heating element, correct? Not the temp of the dabbing surface.

Even with my thin-bottom insert, I do not see temps above 500f on the inside surface of the dish on red setting, as measured with a k-type thermocouple.

Readers of Ray Bradbury know that combustion of plant fiber occurs at 451 degrees Fahrenheit.
