True point. A cheap Harbor Freight press is still about $70. So, you're close to $300, now.
A DIY with a hair straightener is an option if you can get a straightener at Good Will or some place cheap. They can run 60 bux in a retail store. IC Mag has a great thread on making a "Hashmaster Kutt" press with a hair straightener and a squeeze clamp.
Temperature control is pretty important and the cheaper and many DIY setups just don't have that option. Plus, if you really like the rosin thing, you'll end up upgrading and having 2 presses (or 5 like me LOL) and more money into it than if you had just bought the nice one first. LOL
EDIT: Oops, I didn't realize this was the juicebox thread when I suggested the DabPress unit. Buy the Juicebox. For the price, it's a nice entry level unit. The temp control is a big thing. Anyone know what the preset temp is on the Juicebox? If it is about 200-210F, it's probably OK for most tasks.
If they made an electric heater for the Slug, I would be all over that. However, from what I have seen, at this level, the Juicebox is pretty neat.
