Job Search/Security with a Vaping Hobby..

I would like to start a discussion on how you guys approach job opportunities and/or keep peace of mind in maintaining your job while vaping in your free time. Obviously there are obstacles in the way for us that partake, I would like to know of your methods or philosophy on this. I would like to have my cake and eat it too, but I'm finding myself having to abstain for long periods of time, what is your method of getting around this? I'm talking about testing for employment and random testing. How do YOU make this work, I'm looking for the most reliable and comfortable way of having the best of both worlds. Thanks FC!

Find a job where they just don't care, be self employed or get good at beating pee tests. All approaches that have worked for me.

You can buy real urine online too that has been dehydrated. That's what I'd use if I had to. I've heard the drinks are hit and miss and they test for masking agents.

Has anyone had succes using dehydrated urine?

I'm lucky I suppose living in th UK work places don't do this crazy testing. My heart goes out to you all. It seems like a major violation of personal freedom to me and highly discriminatory.
It doesn't make sesne to me as in the legalisation sense the US is supposed to be ahead of the UK but this seems archaic.

Always feels like the USA government is breathing down everyone's throat, everyone I ever known that has traveled there says nr one think he/she noticed was homelessness and you folks don't even have social health care?

No wonder you need so much national pride

And then they also TEST YOUR URINE?

I think it's time to move to China for that freedom as they are anyway producing it cheaper :D

Ahh nothing like commenting before morning coffee or weed

I live and work in the UK. Both me and my bro have been subjected to urinalysis as conditions of our contracts.

We work in different industries too so it's not limited to specific sectors.

Too bad, I didn' think it was that common? I work in the public sector. Is cannabis specifically "not allowed"? Could you not just say you often visit Amsterdam (my understanding is that cannabis stays in the system for ages) if it got noticed?
We live in the dark ages too I suppose, anyone with a shred of common sense wants cannabis decriminalised and yet it never happens.

I'm in Canada and I retired three years ago. I was an executive at a large corporation. No drug testing took place ever and some employees had medical cannabis cards. I never even heard of randomly testing employees or potential employees before joining FC.

I think this testing is a violation and that employees should be evaluated through their performance not what's in their urine.

Our company health insurance statistics showed that 1 in 5 employees (from a base of approx 70,000 employees) were prescribed Prozac suggesting that at any time throughout the day you would likely be interacting with someone stoned out on Prozac. We had a wide range of jobs from labourers, professionals, office staff, heavy equipment operators, electrical engineers and technicians etc.

Cannabis use was the least of our worries.

I don't think testing is common place but if you work for a government agency or a company that works with government agencies it's quite likely. Especially if you have to undergo SC.

The other one is an American company operating in the UK, they tend to adopt their state side policies.

Too much money and power involved for the feds to throw in the towel regardless of how inefficient suppression has been and is in the US. Pot has been readily available for decades now so the war on drugs was lost a long time ago. However the cover provided by the process extends from the local to the international level and thats hard thing for them to give up. So screw it, load it up and enjoy as always.

At this point I think the only reason it's still opposed is the big pharma money
Besides legalization comes with pros and cons and I imagine federal legalization being very bad
Maybe I'm wrong though

Yeah uhh talking about security but two houses from where I live is an hunting store and today when I was driving home from work I got a bit anxious about life in general as I passed that place

On the parking lot were probably every police dog squad car in the region but I think or hope they where just there for business as I know the owner designs leather dog collars and has a contract with the state

I packed away my gear and went out for a jog so I could scout out that fun fun meeting they were having

Thankfully shortly after I came back home they all drove away

Always fun being such a hard-core criminal like we are here

My view is all the different levels of US government (national to local) needs to do is legalize the weed and walk away. The folks who are already in business will carry on and new local producers, processors and retailers will join too. I really see much of the current push for legalization as an attempt to take over a market that is just too much of a cash cow to walk away from.

Yea they are trying to contain the market just look at the sucker punch they threw in Florida
I just can't see the little guy competing the way it's being handled and as nice at would be for the Feds to just throw in a towel and legalize it like alchohol and let it play out they won't it's being heavily regulated with stipulations and legal loopholes and blah blah
I feel like with fed legalization and all the red tape that will come with it large companies like Marlboro/Newport whoever will completely strangle the industry
It's already hard to get into as a little guy if not impossible
The industry is pretty shut down

I use Quik Fix strapped to my leg.

Only had to use it once at an old job.

I get contracted out now and always have it when I'm on site, knock on wood have never had to use it.

I retired from human resources and reasonable suspicion was needed for drug test. First positive was a freebie, could not be dismissed BUT then could get a random :(

I recently read a report on US drug testing but must have deleted it.... the summary was drug testing is a HUGE money maker for these testing companies with almost no impact on drug use, in other words a huge waste of money.
My piss should be my piss

And testing for THC really sucks as it can be many days since use and it still shows up :(

A friend of mine just changed from a Federal job to one that pays better and is much less stressful. We live in Oregon so it's legal. When he found out that he had to be tested he told the person who hired him that he had been smoking (he insists on combusting). The employer checked with upper management and hired him anyway.
I guess if they'd decided not to hire him he could have stayed with the Federal job- they never tested.

I'm not in the USA and testing is not really a widespread thing in Spain (yet). I'm self-employed, but I think I would refuse to work in a job that would take action against me for vaping the previous evening. F"#k that civil liberties-violating bullsh1t! I do sometimes worry about DUI roadside checks. I'm pretty much a lightwight/microdose user, but I couldn't afford to lose my license. I keep meaning to get a home testing kit, just to see what sort of THC levels are in my blood but I doubt that pharmacy bought tests are very accurate. Anyway, even the slightest trace is a thousand bucks fine and you lose half your drivers license points (6 / 12).

I always took this stance:
F"#k that civil liberties-violating bullsh1t!

But now if I want to be able to achieve my life plan (retiring at 55 ) I have no choice but to take roles with greater responsibility.

Usually the greater the responsibility the more they want to own your ass.

It all depends on what job someone is working in.

I agree through, it is taking the piss (:lmao:) to expect an employee to hand over bodily fluids, if they can perform their role stoned, tired, with one eye and one arm what the fuck difference is it to the employer.

I see a Gattaca future on the horizon.
