If you have Netflix, That 10-episode PBS documentary on jazz is well worth the view. You can stream it. I learned so much. For example, I never knew how important Louis Armstrong was to the development of jazz. For me growing up, he was just a guy I'd see on Johnny Carson, et al.: sure, a great musician with a hanky, but he was a true, musical genius. I think its a Ken Burns Documentary.

I like Latin music a lot. Although not jazz, the music of Juan Luis Guerra and his backup singers, "4 40" is fantastic.
