Issues with FC on mobile

Not really sure if this is the right place to post this, but since I'm guessing I figured here would get the most eyes (other than the tempest thread lol). I'm having an issue getting the site to load when I'm on mobile data even when I have a full 5g signal. I've done all the things I could find through a Google search but no dice. Usually use chrome on s23 Ultra but I did try 3 other browsers with no luck. Works just fine on mobile when I'm on wifi... evidenced by this post that I'm making from my phone on wifi. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue and gotten it resolved.

Talked to AT&T... they swear it's not them content filtering... and to be fair I set up my phone as a hotspot and got here from my laptop with no issues. On my phone however I've tried now 5 web browsers and none can hit the site on mobile data

It's possible that you have some other content filtering. I know chrome will also do content filtering. What other mobile browsers did you try?

Do you use any sort of vpn? Did you try the usual troubleshooting steps of restarting your device, clearing browsing history, etc? Do you get an error page, or are you just endlessly loading?

Yeah I figured initially it was something in my settings but it only happens on mobile data so that gave me a little pause. So far I've tried chrome, Firefox, opera, edge and Samsung browsers... i haven't tried Safari yet cause android but all the same thing... wifi works perfectly... turn off wifi doesn't work. I'd say my signal isn't good at home but I've got 4 bars and it doesn't work on mobile data anywhere I've been in the last couple weeks. I even tried loading porn sites just to check... it really does appear to only effect FC and only when I'm not on wifi. Cleared site data deleted cookies... turned off ad blocker and safe browsing... deleted the vpn... basically everything short of restoring my whole phone to factory settings. Eventually I get page could not be loaded error.

Tries to load then page could not load error... but every other site I've tried works... just not this one and I'm at a loss to what could cause this... if it was a chrome setting another browser would work... if it was ATT I would expect it not to work through mobile hotspot but it does... I've deleted and or turned off everything I can think of... checked every setting in my menu page in the app, on the phone and goggle services...
oh well I guess... I'm getting a new phone next month anyway so hopefully that'll solve it in 7 weeks or so lol

On my iPhone using IOS 17, I discovered that I had to turn OFF: iCloud “Private Relay”, for the Safari Browser, or the FC site would NOT load, most other sites worked fine, so it was hard to track down.
Perhaps there is a similar setting on your phone, but for those that use an iPhone, keep this in mind.

Private relay works for me now, they had an issue over the past couple of weeks which was causing issues for me too. Should be working now though

Sounds like you are beyond this, but

Maybe your phone has some security enabled, like a child- protection mode or such? Some setting that can block individual sites?

Tried testing this again. FC doesn’t load when Private Relay is ON, and set for “Trackers & Websites”, in IOS 17 Safari settings. The 2nd option is just “Trackers”, this does work, and FC loads. But if you then go to the iCloud settings, I see that while Private Relay is still ON, it shows that it’s actually disabled for the Safari App. I have tried this multiple times, and that’s the behavior I see here. Not a big deal….

Hmm, that’s unfortunate. I don’t see a setting to disable private relay in safari, but I generally don’t use base safari either since I need an adblocker. When I started using private relay I did run afoul of some automated bot squashing logic on other sites, wonder if y’all are getting assigned ip addresses that are being automatically blocked/rate limited by FC’s anti abuse logic (if any exists)?

The Safari IOS preference is under the group: “Privacy & Security”, called “Hide IP Address”, there are 3 choices. For FC to load consistently, I have to chose the 2nd one: “Trackers Only”. This toggle is linked to the Private Relay setting in the iCloud menu.

Ah gotcha, from my read it sounded like you had an additional option to disable it for safari rather than those toggles being linked to private relay. Just checked in safari and I’m able to load just fine without disabling private relay, but it definitely loaded slower than Brave browser. I’m out of ideas though, definitely only know enough about networking to be dangerous 🙃

Thanks! Just saved me a headache. Couldn’t figure out why this site was locked whilst out

Actually finally fixed the problem... it was the state of Indiana... they hopped on that IDs for porn sites train and were apparently filtering it. As soon as I re-installed my vpn and switch locations it started working immediately. Also explains why I just recently noticed the problem.

Great saga, glad you are back in the saddle with the porn now, too!
