Is there an edibles thread? If not, why not?

Edibles seem as f*combustion as vaping. As much as "the patch" can be to a tobacco smoker.

Not particularly interested in making my own, hence the "cooking" thread is not my speed.

I had a question:

Why don't we see, generally available, *strain specific* edibles?

Couldn't find a sensible place to post it.

I have yet to find a generic "indica" edible that is purely physical, they all seem to bring on racy thoughts antithetical to sleep.

Best Regards.

For edibles in dispensaries, I only purchase the Cheeba Chew indica and the Kushy Punch Indica. They provide the nice indica high (i cannot vape sativa-too racy).

Why not ask the purveyors of the dispensaries you visit to get a very accurate answer?

The majority of this forum probably don't even have access to dispensaries where they live. I don't know if you are near the So Cal region of California, but there is a SO Cal Dispensary thread somewhere around here that may hold more specific answers for you as opposed to getting a bunch of supposition from folks who don't have access to retail products.

LOOVE the Kushy Punch, one of my absolute favorites!
Since you like them you may want to try Punch Bar brand chocolates. Not labeled indica/sativa/hybrid, but always affect me more body than mind. They come in 225mg small squares of choc, that can then be easily divided up into 9 smaller squares, via the per-cut notches. If you try them let me know what you think.

This isn't cooking, kinda, but it is simple.

Just combine 2 grams of rosin, 1 fluid ounce of hemp oil, and a 1/2 tsp of lecithin. Combine the ingredients on gentle heat and stir until its blended well. Then store in a one ounce size eye dropper bottle. One eye dropper is one dose, then simply put the mix on food/snacks your eating.

Different cultivars deliver different effects due to slightly different ratios of cannabinoids and terpenes present in the flower. When you heat those compounds, they volatize- some at different temperatures than others. Terpenes, for example, are the most volatile compounds the cannabis plant produces. They boil and vaporize at extremely low temperatures, compared to cannabinoids.

When you cook with cannabis, you need to do two things. One, extract cannabinoids from the plant (or you can skip this step and use a concentrate.) Two, activate the cannabinoids by decarboxylating them so that they are orally active. (THCA as the plant makes it is not orally active) Decarboxylating is a step that involves heating the THC above a certain temperature for a certain length of time to break the bond in the extra carboxyl ring and release CO2. The temperatures used to achieve this are plenty high enough to boil off those cultivar-specific terpenes so you are left with a more generic product to put your edibles.

Not to mention that pure THC distillate is rapidly becoming the go-to choice for edibles, since it has the most constant and repeatable dosage, its highly refined and carries no flavor or layers of effects such as plain' old hydrocarbon extracts .
