Is there a better, easier, safer way of cleaning glass? I don't think so.

Taking in oils (or whatever) from vaping herb is inherent to consuming (barring whatever mitigation efforts one can take in the process), where adding citric acid and cranberry extract to bong water is controllable. Yes?
Have to agree here. You can reduce any risk to zero by only using water.
I don't assume that vaping is without any risk (but better than combustion, for sure).

Color me cautious on the pink water.
I hear you. I respect that people have their reasons. 👍

Indeed!
My logic is, I have no difficulties keeping any of my glass rigs and accessories healthily clean, using a variety of products and techniques. So I don’t feel the need to add anything to my distilled water in my rigs. Cleaning more OFTEN is my “key”, as well is keeping things as simple as possible …..

PBW ("Powdered Brewery Wash"- i had to look that up) is the standard cleaner in the brewing business, and works wonders on dirty bongs. Non-toxic, environmentally safe, VERY powerful. Available wherever brewing supplies are sold.

Fill bong with hot water, add PBW, wait 15-40 minutes, rinse- sparkling clean, zero effort.
Yes, PBW & hot water is a far better easier safer way of cleaning glass. I found it superior to using ISO and much cheaper as well.

This is an option I'm willing to explore. Thanks!

Me too for my main small bong. I wear rubber gloves and use the hot water tap and it gets steamy hot. It washes all the gunk off easy and the only problem is some stains end up on the sink but most of it goes right down. I then use a metal scouring pad to get rid of the stains and clean the sink. I do not put the plug in the sink and just keep running the hot hot water until it is all clean and most of the gunk just goes straight down the plug hole as the water is so hot but a little does get on the sink.

I make sure to plunge the sink every now and then and use some drain cleaner to make sure it is never getting blocked.

The thing is when you use ISO you need to rinse it with hot water anyways and not all of it comes off so you need to run more hot water on it and the ISO stinks and costs money and I just prefer the water way.

I only use iso for smaller parts and use a zip lock bag and squirt a tiny amount in.

With the stem for my TM2 I can position it so the water goes threw it and then goes direct down the plug hole without even going near the sink. This is my easiest part to clean without any mess at all just because of the shape of the stem.

I will say is that with the Sous Vide method all the gunk comes off, so no extra cleaning efforts are needed, and that's with 93% Iso.

And I am able to successfully reuse Iso. Makes it economical.

The PBW sounds interesting. I'll check my local brew shop.

My hose cleaning works on bongs I did not use anything but water in (before I picked up the cranny/lemon trick here on FC)...I just had to clean them every day instead of every second day now with the additives. I have PBW but have not had a need to use it...yet.
