Is the PD's lack of temperature adjustment a negative?

I'm planning to get my first vape - deciding between a buddha and a pd. I think the pd is more suited for my usage... efficient, and personal. However, the prospect of playing around with the buddha's temperature valve to get different highs makes me want it instead.
In essence:
pd - efficient, but no temperature adjustment and 2 month wait
buddha - less efficient, temperature adjustment, and quicker delivery

how much more efficient is the pd? and does the lack of temperature adjustment make a big difference in the experience?

thanks

it can be, better get both just to be safe ;)
the lack of temperature adjustment can be seen as a positive too, because you dont have to fiddle around with it to get the right temp, its already set there

I would say it is only a negative for those who want higher temperatures. Generally people who want higher temperatures tend to be medical users and those who like to vape other substances that need higher temp.

The PD efficiency is largely based on the individual and I suggest looking at this thread to gain how any stems people use with the PD to gain how you may fit. http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=337&p=1

In my opinion if you vape just one stem you will have noticeable tangible savings but if you vape 2 stems or more per session you the efficiency rating is in line with other vaporizers. Where the PD really shines is that it performs better at smaller amounts than other vaporizer classes. The Myrtlezap also shares the similar traits in performance at small amounts. For those who do not use alot of weed the PD and Myrtlezap are great vapes but regarding efficiency its all dependent on how much you use.

Also keep in mind many people use another vape to further vaporizer the PD ABV. This can be argued as a negative to "efficiency" and is why I prefer to say the PD simply performs better at smaller amounts as true efficiency is dependent upon the user.

I really prefer the Purple Days set temperature to my Extreme in that I don't have to "worry" if I'm "getting" it all. Don't get me wrong, I love having options - But when I work with the extreme I always worry if I should have hit it hotter to get all the goods or whether I should've started lower or what. What I'm trying to say is that I love how the Purple Days just "gets it done." It gets me high without me needing to worry about shit.

I tend to be a pretty casual user who likes to get high before bed and as such the PD is great because I can vape a stem or two and not worry about wasting money by falling asleep while spinning on my pillow haha.

However, if I want to get really blasted I use the Extreme just because it takes one bowl as opposed to 5 stems. Just a time thing haha.

I'm not sure what your finance situation is - But if it were me - I'd put down on the PD and start saving for a DBV. That way you could probably pick up a DBV to tide you over while the PD is waitlisted (assuming money isn't too terribly tight :().

how much more efficient is the pd?
It's not so much the capability as it is the real world usage and user tendency. You could load a PD sized bowl in the DBV and try to take several tiny hits, simulating the number of hits you'd get from the PD, but you'd probably find yourself taking that .02-.03g in one hit from the DBV. OTOH, like digglover says, it's so much easier to quickly get totally fucked up using the DBV or other full sized whip vape, while with the PD, you usually find yourself just not loading another bowl for a while because you feel like you're elevated quite enough for the time being. Can't beat the PD for measured dosing.

But if it were me - I'd put down on the PD and start saving for a DBV. That way you could probably pick up a DBV to tide you over while the PD is waitlisted
 Absolutely. Get both. You can get a DBV from Dieselvapors for $140 delivered (thanks to being an FC member) and for a total of $320 you get the best of both worlds. Get the DBV first if you don't want to wait long til you can vape. Then follow with the PD.

Quite a few of us here have multiple vapes and some of us prefer the PD for most vaping, but those of us with a complementary big hitter will also use that when we want a bigger dose in a short period of time, or just crave a few big hits. Something like the DBV can also come in handy when you run short of herb. Just load some ABV and crank up the temp a little to get that last little bit of good stuff and stretch your supply. Expect some harsh vapor to get that though.

So my advice is to not worry about which one to buy, just which one to get first. ;)

For me, the lack of temperature adjustment has turned out to be a major PRO.

Burnt popcorn taste was a fact of life of my whip vape. Not so with the PD.... not saying that all negative tastes are removed but its like a 95% improvement for me.
