Is It Possible to Be Allergic to Marijuana? Science Says Yes

I have a friend who's older twin brothers were allergic to Marijuana. They continued to smoke and were also participating in Timothy Leary's "LSD experiments". They both ended up with severe mental problems some of which were attributed to the Marijuana more so than than the LSD.

Also Mrs. DieHard can get a severe migraine headache from just smelling combusted Marijuana. :puke:Very stressful on our relationship given my love for cannibis. This is what lead me to explore vaping. I couldn't be happier now!

Also, there can be rare individual high sensitivity or reactions to specific irritants, with direct chemical irritation different from antibody-mediated type allergies. Many terpenes and other aromatics are simply well known to be tissue irritants. For example, just imagine if your eye, like your throat, was in the vapor path of your daily vaporization intake. I presume this would show up in the throat, which probably gets the highest dose of condensed terpenes, aromatics, etc.

I have no problem with vaporizing, but I got back into it exclusively because I was having major toxicity issues with combustion. Not sure if it was allergies as much as toxic overload. Fuck all that shit, I am now quite proud to be 100% combustion free, even if I only interact with like-minded folks here @fc :)

Salutations everyone,

...headache from just smelling... This is what lead me to explore vaping. I couldn't be happier now!

I understand how this situation must be irritating, especially in a couple! Sometimes i don't smell it but it's like the room became saturated enough to cause sneezing and skin irritation... So yes, unfortunately it happens that something in dry cannabis flowers affects me too and hence i may appear to have joined your wife's club to some point; e.g. it seems my habit triggers allergic symptoms as well, at least past a couple bowls per day i'd think.

As a consequece it may be possible to avoid the inconvenience if i manage to find an appropriate mixed-blend recipe, in conjugaison with switching from blue flame to yellow, etc., because my Slick "Gun" unit can turn the front puck dim red when half-full (i must refill before it's empty though), euh... And such "high-temperature" mode of operation doesn't upset me as much as initial tasty clouds using my Xikar Ressource.

Actually it's a win-win scenario potentially, one where i'll pre-heat with a jet flame (and hypothetically get rid of irritants by doing so!), then a candle flame shall become more enjoyable during the next tokes, because i have more practice (read control) with it...

... terpenes and other aromatics are simply well known to be tissue irritants...

This may be what i'm observing exactly. So, as a remedy i'm trying to proceed according to what i describe above: deplete a fresh bowl of aromatics, whatever, using my blue torch - since it's so efficient at taming down the taste anyway... Then finish up with my regular butane lighter and re-heat using the torch as needed.

Now gime a couple months, provided i can stick to that ritual!

I have no problem with vaporizing...:)

In all honesty i don't believe vaporisation and cannabis allergy are directly related but i could imagine someone being intolerant to benzine, etc. Go figure. At least with vaporisation we get more options than toxic fire smoke will ever provide!... In my own personal case no definitive plan has been devised although i've been introspective lately: what if i were allergic to THC or CBD!

Well, first things first.

Salutations Wizsteve,

...red eyes... ...allergic reaction...

Maybe, maybe not. In my own case it appears the problems mentioned may very well happen to be manageable, time will tell.

In any case the HighTimes article suggests there's a real possibility to encounter cannabis allergy symptoms and it certainly makes sense judging from my own experience.

It took only 3 years for my situation to evolve from years-long cannabic abstinence to daily discomfort in case of abuse, so to speak; the definition of "abuse" being some lower threshold than what i'd find suitable: e.g. if i can't satisfy with 2 pipe bowls a day or just 1 plus a cookie then the "abuse" treshold ain't too far, perhaps because i'm over-sensitized (well, i sure didn't have those reactions a year ago).

Anyway, my cookies seem to help as i don't vape as much. This batch is slow to kick in but its lasting effects compensate for the wait! My eyes improved significantly although i still get a kind of rush in the morning when i wake up...

Lets no panick.

:peace:

I am allergic to grass, trees, and yes weed much to my chagrin. I tolerate it all no problem, but depending on the strain/batch I can get wickedly nasty hay fever, like record setting sneezes, and if i'm not careful i'll get little hives if I touch skin with an oil/kif covered finger. I can get so damn stuffed up, red watery itchy eyed in an instant, and it's never predictable, although I think I see a trend with abuse (over 2g/day). When I take a break I notice I can breathe better and then when I start vaping again I don't cough as much and tolerate it well until I cross that abuse threshold again.

I also suspect my wife is being negatively affected since I vape indoors by the kitchen exhaust vent and notice alot of the vapour still goes into the living area as well as dust from grinding. She's been sneezing alot (always in 3's lol) and i'm starting to suspect the indoor hobby.
