OK, so if they made a big budget..."Hollywood Big multi-million dollar comedy" about assasinating our president, premier, prime minister, etc. would we be OK with that?

I don't know, but I kind of think hacking Sony was a fairly reasonable response and really could see our intellegence services doing the same had the situation been the other way around.

I do want to see the movie pretty badly though. And the thought had crossed my mind that the hack was a phony PR stunt made up by Goldberg and Rogan. How's that for conspiracy theories?

Even if it never hits the cinema, they're gonna sell shitloads of disks and downloads.

So far anything with Rogan and Franco in it together has been pretty good IMO.

It gets done all the time by our own entertainment industry so sure no problem.

Hacking someone’s network is such a common occurrence that I would be surprised if our intelligence services didn't.

if you're going to live on planet Earth, then you better be prepared to be parodied, to any offensive degree. Especially when you're a dictator who has no fucking idea what he's doing, other than taking care of himself.

Mature folks don't censor art, or lash out at those who created it, or throw temper tantrums when somebody makes fun.

A movie about killing our actual current President done by North Korea? I would be okay with it. I probably wouldn't watch it, same as this Rogen / Franco movie. I mean, the production value in the NK version is sure to be substandard, to say the least...

I agree that Sony is probably capitulating to avoid the release of internal dirty laundry. The thought of the DPRK being able to attack US movie theaters is laughable to me. So using the "safety of moviegoers" as an excuse to not release the movie doesn't pass the smell test IMO. And not even a DVD release or Netflix et al? It doesn't add up to me. They (Sony) seem to have agreed to the terms of the blackmailers at this point, so something is going on IMHO.

Being that Sony along with the theater owners caved on this issue sets a VERY scary precedence for just about everything, and I'm not just talking about the movie business. While this was an attack on a Japanese owned business, make no mistake that it is also an attack on the US and the question is, how will the US respond? So far........we haven't, at least not publicly.

Cyber warfare has been going on for awhile now, but it has just escalated to a whole other level.

The US military is the strongest in the world and we who live in the US have a certain sense of security in that fact, but now I fear that our vulnerability has gone up more than just a few notches.

I guess the question is, can a Cyber war be fought on the same grounds as the nuclear cold war was fought and that is..........peace on the threat of mutual destruction? Can we demonstrate that we have the ability to take down the infrastructure of any country who threatens us in the same way and if so, can we effectively protect ourselves?

Make no mistake. This kind of warfare can be just as devastating, if not more so, than guns and bombs.


What I'm REALLY afraid of is the security measures that will have to be put into place to protect ourselves for this could change the very nature of what we know now as the internet.

My feeing is............enjoy the freedom that we have in this cyber space that we're all on now because it WILL soon change. Of that, I have no doubt.

WE already did a Hack attack on the Iranian nuclear program a few years ago. So no real surprise they(whoever did the sony hack) could hit a soft target in the private sector.


All this is really nothing new. It's just this Dumb ass movie made it News, as our power grid and banking system fights off hack attacks on a pretty near daily basis.

I would think We The USA can hack the fuck out of the best of the rest of 'em.

Alas the damage is done. I could give a rat's ass about Rogen or this film, but nearly 50,000 rank and file folks had their personal info hacked and sold already. Several of my friends from my tv biz years have now been subject to identity theft, and let's just say the effect on these people, some of whom have very little in the way of assets or wealth, is way more devastating than anything that will happen to some overpaid Hollywood stoners.

As usual the rich get the headlines and the bullshit sympathy, while the little guy bears the brunt of this crime. Same as it ever was.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it illegal, but definately in poor taste. We're talking about a society that is completely diiferent from us culturally, so insulting their leadership is akin to insulting them personally.

As far as MJ portrayed on the screen, when has it ever not been associated with the comical stoner stereotypes? At least it's generally portrayed as being benign. Maybe this is a good thing for the cause...I dunno

I haven't been following real close, but I thought it was the 5 major movie theater chains that forced Sony to pull the movie. If that's the case, they should release it now, let the theaters that have the balls to show it, and then the rest will open it on Christmas day once they see there is no threat.

Allowing anyone to censor anything with the threats of violence is dangerous. What happens when ISIS doesn't like a movie?

Obama to comment on this in a few minutes in a news conference.

On a side note, Sony received another communique stating that unless Sony pulls all of its trailers as well as any future releases on DVD or Streaming sites, they will release more confidential information.

Looks like Sony may be complying with this as well.
