i apologize if this has been addressed, but does anyone have any first-hand experience using synthetic mj (k2?) in the iolite?

i have taken some of the suggestions from this thread and used them and had incredibly results w/ the iolite. most notably:

-grind your herbs up well (this is HUGE imo)
-don't overfill the bowl
-instead of filling the removable piece w/ herb and plugging it back into the Iolite, dump the ground herb into the heating chamber (wow does this seem to make a huge difference in terms of efficiency)

other things I have noticed on my own, but did not see mentioned here:

-when i have some moister herbs, i find that i can almost get TWO GOOD sessions from one bowl. the first session seems like there is a little less actual vapor, but i get nice and stoned. then when i go back, i'm assuming the herbs are significantly more dried out from the previous session and the vapor seems plentiful and i get another complete session out of a 1/2-3/4 loosely packed bowl.

anyway, i am very curious about the synthetic weed and look forward to hearing some response.

If I was you I'd be wary of synthetic weed, if it's the same stuff I'm aware of AVOID. It's marketed by unscrupulous companies who rarely ever reveal the ingredients. At best it tends to be made up of other plant material (lettuce, chamomile etc), at worst it is full of solvents and other dirty shit which will have an effect on you but not a particularly nice one.

There was a documentary about some island where prohibition is really strict and you can't get MJ anywhere - the kids resort to legal highs - health and mental problems everywhere - not good.

Don't smoke/vape anything which you do not know the contents of, unless you really, really want to.

Hi everyone. I have had an iInhale/iOlite for 18 months and love it's portability. The customer service from O&G has been excellent too since I have had a couple of issues. They seem very attentive to customer feedback. From what I gather this vape has saved the company from going bust.

As for cleaning I use one of those water oscillating machines (can't remember the exact name) with warm water and some cleaning solution.

Another method is to put all the pieces in a saucepan of milk or olive oil and heat without boiling for 10 mins. I tried the milk method and it kinda worked. I still had to do some cleaning afterwards. The obvious advantage of this is that you will get baked from eating something cooked with the oil or perhaps a hot chocolate drink made from the milk. :brow:

long time reader... ahem.. 109pages worth anyway ... first time poster

got an iolite a few months ago - growing pains for sure
ronson in canada is crap of course (successful light only 5% of the time)
thx forum for the brand tips - using Colibri now with no issues - found at Cigar Shops in toronto.

i use an arizer extreme q at home and it's the bomb.
the plasticy taste went away after a few uses and i don't notice it much anymore.
pull slowly

i find a proper pre-heat is important for all vapes including the iolite

has nowhere near the flavor of the arizer but then again - i can't sneak the big one into a concert.

i don't find it exactly stealth tho....

i was at the STP show this past wknd and i could definitely notice someone using one
that distinctive sweet vape smell

just gotta be aware and blow the "smoke" down.

stock model works fine for me - for now

thx for the tips,

If your poor success rate really was due to the Ronson, that would be unusual. It's better to use a higher grade fuel, but Ronson's not normally going to fail 95% of the time. I got my iolite when they were first released and I used several cans of Ronson with no problems. Others have used it successfully too. If you shop around though, Vector is a better buy as well as better quality.

Time to vaping temp varies from a few seconds to 30 min, depending on the model you're using. The iolite is ready to make vapor in a couple of minutes, although it does do better after the bowl heats up.

If the smell is the reason why you don't find it stealthy, then no vape qualifies, since there will be odor any time mj is vaporized. Holding your hits is the best way to avoid smell. Except for the hissing it does during heating, the iolite is considered quite stealthy, otherwise.

Anyone have a broken iolite not covered under warranty? I'm after a gas chamber and the L metal piece after the thin tubing.

Hmmm actually mine's an i-inhale so it might be different :|

Sorry if this has already been asked but I didn't want to read thru 2700 posts.

I noticed that after you shut down the iolite it still cycles on and off while it's cooling down. Is it OK to hit it after you shut it off while it's still cycling or would you just be drawing in the left over butane.

I always hit mine while it's shutting off. I usually flick switch to 0 when I know there is about two to three hits left and then I take those remaining hits during it's shutdown cycles. I;m really not sure if there's any issues in doing this though.

After shut off it should retain enough heat for a hit or two, especially if it's been on for a while. You can get hits as soon as 1.5-2 min, but it works better after the bowl has heated up from ambient heat. If you start it up, hit it a few times and then shut it down after it's only been on for 5 min., the heat retention won't be very good. If it's been on for 20 min., there's a lot more heat left and the bowl is a lot hotter.

As for drawing in butane through the mouthpiece at any time, it's designed so that that won't happen. This company is new to vaporizers, but they're an old pro when it comes to butane powered tools.

Hey, I have recently been looking into this vape because of its supposed portability which doesnt sacrifice its efficiency. I really like the stealth factor of this and im not particularly low on cash i just need something portable, discreet and i want something that works.

Is it all its cracked up to be?

Thanks

Newvaper. I just got mine yesterday and so far I really like it. Super easy to use and it was smaller than I thought it was going to be. Nice little carrying case and accessories. As far as stealth goes it is a little noisy but not to bad. The only inconvenience is that it does get fairly hot and you have to let it cool for a few minutes once you shut it off but that's probably more my lack of patients talking. Overall I would definitely recommend it. You may want to take a look at the Magic Flight Launch Box reviews as well. It's half the price and I've heard good things about it.

Hey guys, its a sad day for me as I've finally broken down and signed up for this site just to post in this thread. Its been about 8 months that I've had my iolite and my lord have I had problems with it. It started with the mouthpiece cracking, which was a pain but easily replaced. Next the unit clogged entirely and wouldnt produce any butane when switched to on. I later found out my butane was shit (lucienne) so again I spent more money to replace the butane with Power Brand butane and purged the iolite a few times until it finally started working again. Now I have another problem, and I'm starting to wonder if buying this iolite was a smart idea. This time my iolite only produces a faint amount of butane that is just barely audible. Occassionaly I can shake it and it makes the noise its supposed to, but getting it lit for an extended period of time is nearly impossible. Ive vented it about a thousand times and almost drained a can of butane doing that. Toward the end of a vent/purge it will sometimes sputter and produce the right amount of butane. I'm curious if this is a butane problem again, or if theres something wrong with the internal mechanism. I cant imagine there being a huge difference in quality between Vector and Power (5x super refined as well). I sadly do not have a receipt any longer, as I assumed a $200+ piece of equipment wouldnt fail in the first couple months, so repairs are likely not available. If anyone has any suggestions as to how to fix this, it would be great because I live across the hall from my RA this semester so smoking is far too risky.

Oh and thanks for all the help that this thread has provided... it fixed my iolite last time.

Sounds like it's time to claim on warranty - if you had good results with a decent butane brand and it's suddenly stopped working with no other change... then yeah I'd email O&B and see what they say.

I would just like to commend vapeworld.com because i ordered the magic flight launch box yesterday with two day shipping (ignorant of the fact that fedex doesn't deliver on saturday). I needed it by Saturday for personal reasons so after I emailed them about this problem they called me and updated my order so i could afford it and upgraded me to priority overnight so that it will get here tomorrow. I was very impressed by the social skills of the guy on the phone and i am very excited for tommorow!!!!!

Ill let you all know how it works

mod note: FYI- this post would have been better placed here - http://www.fuckcombustion.com/viewtopic.php?id=2463&p=3

Hey all. Got an iolite within the last month and so far I'm enjoying it. Rarely combusting. While I've been a heavy user for the past decade or so, I've only recently discovered the joys of vaping. The iolite is my first vape purchase, and I've been using it for daily consumption since I got it. Just wondering if anyone else uses this as their primary vape...?

Also, I'm seriously considering another vape, this time a more at-home unit since I'm convinced I wanna limit my combustion. Been hearing great things about the PD and am almost certain I'll attempt to grab one. Anyone else have thoughts on a good 2nd vape that's relatively affordable and efficient?

mod note: The first part of your post is on topic. The 2nd part is not. Please take your question to 'Ask FC'.

It was iolite cleaning day for me today. The heating chamber was almost completely black. It took a lot of q-tips to get it looking clean again.

Hello, Its my first post, HIGH! anyways, I love the iOlite........I HATE THE STEM, first week, my stem breaks. I finally unscrewed it from the base, lost all the little parts that were inside the stem, whatever. Still love my iOlite. I burn my mouth trying to inhale it straight from the base. Im already broke from spending so much money on this creation. I cant even afford buying the base with the stem again or at least not for a while. Please change the specs of the stem and herb chamber, even when I take the chamber part out now I get burned because it falls out of the base its "supposed to be" attached to. Listen, all Im asking is to take this genius creation and make it better, maybe have a rubber tube instead of that breakable stem. Check into securing the base to the herb chamber, maybe with a small screw that could be easily hidden away in the on the base that houses the chamber to keep them together. And, could you pretty please send me a stem and herb chamber replacement. I did spend many nights burning myself, I think maybe you could do me the favor. THANKS! LOVE YOU GUYS! :D

Combustion free since '09
If you email support on http://my-iolite.com/ and include details of your broken stem they may offer to send you replacements. I sent pictures with my email when mine broke and they mailed me free replacements. Good luck!

Apparently the iolite isn't without it's potential problems according to others but I've used mine for several months now without a hitch. At least it is actually a vaporizer and not prone towards combustion like some of these other products.

I'm having a problem with my iolite, i've owned two of them since April of 09, and this is my second one that I bought in april of 2010 and I'm having a problem with it now. When I go to turn it on it's taking a long time to start hissing, I've had it on the "1" position for the last 45 minutes and it hasn't started hissing, I've been using vector since the day I bought it. It's been doing this for the past week but it's only lasted about 10-15-20 minutes and i've been able to minimize the time by refilling it with butane after each use so its filled when I use it the next time, but it didn't work this time. I can't imagine it being clogged since vector prides themselves in being clean, though with my last can I used it down to the very last drop and that's when the problem started occuring so I don't know if that might have something to do with it.

Any suggestions or help on someone that has experienced this before? I use it daily.
