to be honest the mouthpiece was fine, unscrewed screwed back in fine, im almost positive the herb was about to reachcombustion or was definetly releasing smoke other then vapor. Im still a little confused about operation, its funny cuz im a HVAC technician and this is my field. But if im not mistaken fill with butane put herb in chamber flip to on, do i hit the piezo button directly after i tunr on or shouldi let sit for a minute or two. Also after every hit to 2 hits should lthe butane kick back in and the orange light should comeback on? thanks for all your help everyone, i really dolike the iolite when it works, if i can get it working regularly im shure ill love it, also is it true the herb is completely done when there is no vapor, or can there still be vapor and the herb be done?

Portability is the point of this unit, it's more of a complement to your home vape. Some people love it, and for those guys this is a great unit if you can only afford 1 vaporizer, but most iolite users I know also have a Volcano at home.
^^ this is me ^^
the 'cano is my daily driver but I have an iolite for portability and convenience, usually for adventures out of the house.

It's a great, portable unit that works. Its size and design are fantastic imho, as long as you accept the tradeoff here which is heat (hold it properly) and exhaust (let it breathe, don't inhale the exhaust!).

Just my opinion, hold that helps somewhat but sounds like it's just not the right device for you.
the thing about the iolite is that it takes some getting used to; it does not hit like a standard bag or whip vape, it hits more like a traditional pipe (sans combustion).

I tend to treat it like I did my old meerschaum way back in the day, hitting it slowly over a good 20-30 minutes per chamberful.

It was most useful to me when we went hiking up in King's Canyon earlier this year; I was able to hike for quite some time on the trail while drawing on the iolite to alleviate the pain in my arthritic ankles without being a fire hazard to the environment around me.

Anyway yeah it is not for everyone but I sure like mine :)

Yep I assume it's just the expansion differential between the stainless thread on the bowl and the plastic thread on the mouthpiece. It forces you to get into the habit of removing the mouthpiece before it cools down. Word is the new stainless threaded mouthpieces don't have this problem and you can remove them hot or cold no probs.

fill with butane put herb in chamber flip to on, do i hit the piezo button directly after i tunr on or shouldi let sit for a minute or two.
Sounds like this is the problem - you need to hit the piezo immediately after turning the gas on. Make sure that the ignition light is on - you'll see a blue light then orange after a few seconds towards the top of the exhaust fins. If nothing after a few seconds hit the piezo a few more times until it ignites.

Also after every hit to 2 hits should lthe butane kick back in and the orange light should comeback on?
Yep - it will hover about 190 C - as soon as the temp lowers below this the heat kicks back in again to bring it back up to temp. While it's doing this it's emitting from the exhaust - so get into the habit of not inhaling while the exhaust is on. You should start inhaling with the heat kicks off, and take long, slow, steady draws until you've had enough or the unit fires back up again. Put it down or keep away from your lungs, let it come back up to temp, then when it stops firing you can resume inhaling.

also is it true the herb is completely done when there is no vapor, or can there still be vapor and the herb be done?
The herb will become a consistent, medium to dark brown. Depends on the herb and how much you fill the bowl as to when it's done but you'll figure it out with a bit of practice. It'll be obvious when there are no vapors left. As it's only heating at 190 C you can save the leftovers for BHO or iso - there won't be much left but having smoked it myself there's definitly something left. Feels mostly like a heavy CBD stone rather than a THC high, so great for making a sleepytime or pain tincture or extract like the leftovers from the Volcano etc.

Good luck, let us know how you go. I really love this unit, it's literally changed my life over the last 6 months as I've got chronic neuropathic pain and it's difficult to get small, regular doses to keep the pain at bay when you're travelling.

This is the next vape on my list. Glad iolite addressed the melting mouthpiece problems.

I love my IOlite. They sent me replacement mouthpieces. Its just sad that units packaged with the old/bad mouthpieces are still out there.

at my friend's retail store, he opened the ones he had in stock and swapped out the bad mouthpieces.

I've emailed them twice. Once a few weeks ago, never got a response. And again over a week ago (I got the automated we're on vacation response).

So far, I'm not very happy with my purchase of an iolite. I broke both mouthpieces within 12 hours of purchasing the unit, and now I can't even get in touch with the company. I'm strongly against buying new mouthpieces because mine were the plastic ones that are faulty, and I'm starting to believe that the iolite is strongly over priced. Should have went with a launchbox...

I ordered the $10 ($13 shipped) stainless mouth piece adapter from the Ebay seller. (search Iolite vaporizer on Ebay if you are interested)

It arrived in about 2 days and seems like a good option if you need somthing while you are waiting for your replacements to arrive from Ireland. :2c:

I purchased an iinhale last spring, and its been very useful for all this time. I didn't use it a lot after the first couple months, but when i have its been good.
I've never thought about mods to do to my iinhale, but after seeing this huge thread, im sure there are some good ones that improve the performance. I was hoping you guys could tell me what the good mods are.

Lately, I have started having a problem with my bowl piece of the i-inhale. The metal bowl has starting spinning in the black housing. I checked it out and realized that that metal bowls slides into a white ring, and that is what's spinning. It's quite annoying when it spins around, because it makes the mouthpiece spin as well. Does anyone know how I could secure the bowl into it's housing?

Thanks in advance for you help,
sekret

Some folks (like me) appreciate the looseness, as a quick spin may help stir the pot, so to speak. When vaping, it is never a bad idea to "stir and repeat".

Hello every1, after reading all this info about the old mouthpieces and their problems.....
I bought the iolite and I also have the old mouthpieces and been using them very carfully so they dont break, but what worries me is are they still ok to use to get a good high? I have been using them and no melting problems yet, the threads are polastic and not steel, are a lot of you using it with the moutpiece on still?

i have the old piece to, just never leave the mouth piece attached to the bowl when u shut off the unit or stop using it for a while since the mouthpiece can get stuck on the bowl top and it can easily break..

Just so ya know, the herbalaire mouthpiece teflon tubes fit right in the iolite threads, you just gotta twist it in there, then when you turn it on it heats up and expands to actually form threads in the teflon. Came up with this to fix my friend's IO who didnt want to wait for another tube to come in the mail. Next time I see him ill try to get a picture, but it is a pretty simple concept. Here are the tubes im talking about:

Its a good quick fix if you already have an herbalaire (or if a friend has one and an extra tube). Or it might even make a good replacement for the normal tube, its not going to melt at least.

Is the iolite good as a primary smoking device? I heard a few people say that they have an iolote as a recreational and on the go unit, and have a primary bigger vaporizer at home. Is the iolite sufficient as the only thing I get high with?

Also, what kind of stores sell the good butane? Hardware stores? Cigar shops? I know I can buy it online but where can I buy it in person too? thanks.

I wouldn't want to rely on just the Iolite, but I am a little obsessive.

One brand is Vector. I went to their website and found dealers by entering my zip code. I bet many brands have a similar way to find brick and morter locations.
