Invisible vapor?

One frequently hears fellow vaporists speaking of "visible" vapor. This implies that there is such a thing as "invisible" vapor. Does invisible vapor actually exist? If it does, what makes it different from visible vapor? Is this a stupid question? Am I vaked out of my mind?

Somebody correct me if I am wrong but..

Visible vapor is vapor that you can see

Invisible vapor is vapor that has been held in for so long that most of it has been absorbed so it is either very light or you cannot see it at all.

You also get invisible vapor from taking weak hits.

There are also some herbs that do not produce the vapor that resinous weed does but you can still vaporize them and get the aromatic and other such benefits

Well I'm pretty sure any lower than about 170C all you'll get with cannabis is invisible vapor. You taste it and enough of it will get you high for sure, but its invisible so it will be very very thin.

I think that many that 'call for' visible vapor' are just seeking 'clouds' over 'wispy' vapor. That's how I've always interpreted it when they were talking about a device I already have and can relate.

However, for myself, I prefer my vape intakes on the light side only because my bronchs are screwed alread.

I've always assumed it was a temperature range issue. Low temps producing thinner, maybe less available actives (for convencience we'll all this 'invisible' range), low - moderate temps producing a slightly thicker, visible but 'whispy' vapor (misty-range clouds), and hotter temps hitting the more available, decarbed actives that are almost like a fine smoke texture (fog hits).

What I have heard from some vapor enthusiasts over at GC, if you are able to see vapor on exhale that you are not absorbing those active particles. Implying that invisible vapor is ideal for effectively consuming those active chemicals.

I somewhat agree with this theory,but suddenly disregard when I'm vaping huge clouds and getting oh so very high. But idk lol

When we takes huge clouds it saturates our lungs with so much THC they can't take it all, our body responds to that with an adrenaline rush and an urge to cough. I prefer to undersize my hits so I don't get this cough feeling and I exhale not too much.
Buy I really like the big clouds rush

With a heavy hitter I don't know how you can't exhale something, I always have something coming out from normal hits. I have to take micro hits to keep it all. And I don't feel more medicated after, while frustrated of the diluted experience.

the way I use it: if I just vape in my room and see vapor, it's visible vapor.
but sometimes I have a light on, pointed down, to read a book or newspaper. and when I reach the stage where I can't see any vapor anymore the usual way, but instead I blow it out underneath/inside the lamp's hood, I still see a lot of vapor. so I know there is still vapor eventhough under regular conditions it's invisible, still I usually unload around that point
same when you can taste it but don't see it.

Any one ever use a flashlight while vaping? I have started doing it a lot of the time with my pa40 (468 lumens). It turns even the really wispy looking clouds a nice visible blue. I love watching the streams of vapor slowly drifting through the lightbeam . This helps me know when my herb is really done and makes the experience more satisfying for me.

Lol I always to tweak my light setup and regularly use a flashlight like you. Seeing the vapors a really important part in the ritual for me. The best is when you got some direct sun shades trough your windows or in the dark in front of a screen

All vapor is visible if the light is good enough. If you're not exhaling into good direct lighting or streaming sunlight, then at some point you don't see the exhaled vapor anymore, and it does diminish obviously, making it harder to see at the end of the bowl. A lot of hits are wasted because vaporists don't feel the hit or see the exhaled vapor, and dump the bowl. All the more reason to save your ABV and use it in some manner.

Yea I've used my fair share of flashlights but there is no light stronger than the sun! I love exhaling into sunlight, it makes whispy vapor that you've held in look like fat clouds.

If I am not mistaken the cough you get is caused by the THC affecting the mucous membranes

I personally love the stabbing pain in my chest when I take a huge rip

Water vapor is white, no2 vapor is red. ccl4 vapor is black.

Pot vapor is white, the less visible the better taste. My own experience.

Isnt the process technically not vaporization but volatilization? Which would mean that its not "true" vapor?
Or am I just thinking too hard?

Actually i think cannabis vapour is blue, it gets whiter as more compounds are broken and some byproducts are formed due to the higher temperatures.

I agree Titamius, i think it should be called volatilization but it doesn't matter really what you call it. And some vapor must be formed due to the water content in the plant right?

What an informative thread. Seeing vape with flashlight def makes the experience better. Much like cooking, visual appeal means a lot, placebo or not. It also helps me measure how much vapable material is left. It's hard to stop "cloud" chasing, I think this might help me get better in tune with what's actually happening. Thanks Again!

I think all vapes should come with a white led light.

I actually retro fitted one with velcro to the rear of my volcano.

It seems to depend on the strain as well. When I vaporize high CBD strains I get less visble vapor than those with more THC.
