I just discovered my favorite part about this story. Bannon was arrested on the yacht he's been hiding out in for a month. That yacht is owned by a Chinese billionaire. Steve Bannon, Champion of the Forgotten Man, Defender of Western Civilization against a rising China....gets arrested on a yacht owned by a Chinese Oligarch. Hilarious.

That having been said, I don't think any of Steve's alleged "victims" have complained or sued. They wanted to feel like they were Building the Wall. #FreeSteve

Maybe the busts aren't done yet:

Curt Schilling reportedly arrested for involvement in Steve Bannon, fraudulent border wall campaign

Long-time MLB pitcher and borderline Hall of Famer Curt Schilling was reportedly arrested and is in custody for his alleged involvement in the fraudulent “We Build The Wall” campaign, according to TodaysFive.com. According to the Boston Globe’s Sean Phillip Cotter, however, Schilling answered his inquiry for comment saying that he hasn’t been arrested.

Earlier on Thursday, Steve Bannon — a former adviser of President Donald Trump — Brian Kolfage, Andrew Badolato, and Timothy Shea were arrested and face up to 20 years in prison for their role the same campaign.

Bannon and the other trio were charged by a New York federal prosecutor with defrauding donors of hundreds of thousands of dollars in a fake fundraiser initially advertising that financial support would go to President Trump’s border wall at the United States, Mexico border.

Instead, the money was used for personal expenses.

Nor, probably, will they.

Which is very sad because this kind of stuff needs to stop at some point. Here it's Bannon. There's a LOT of politicians and politician's friends who do similar things and it gets down to, basically, pay for political endorsements/help/whatever. Politics is dirty and this is one example of many.

If proven up to the level being alleged so far, I hope we won't be hearing from the likes of him for 20 years. That's a big "if" though. It's easy to allege a pure promise of all funds going to something and it's easy to allege some went for personal expenses, but, things get fuzzy fast.

(For instance, I can't even imagine what the DA will claim as the 501(c)(*4*) organization has violated. A (4) is a "social welfare" organization. Generally, it advocates something. It seems like they did that. The tax code requires none of the income inures to an individual, but, the penalty is an excise tax on the amounts, not a criminal indictment for fraud. I hope this is a good indictment designed to get people off the street because they are criminals, not making someone a criminal to get him off the street.)

Our Average Life Expectancy Could Increase to 115 Years Very Soon

Over history, people have chased the illusive goal of living longer through pills, potions, and fountains of everlasting youth. Today, the quest is backed by increasingly rigorous science spurred on by labs and biotech companies. Their goal is to understand the mechanics behind aging on a molecular level so they can slow it. "We thought aging was inevitable, but that's not true," Barzilai says. "Aging is quite flexible and can be targeted. We can delay aging, we can stop many manifestations of aging, and in some cases we'll be able to reverse aging."

Longer than that. Aubrey De Grey, an admittedly eccentric gerontologist, is convinced the first human to live to 1,000 is probably alive right now and is middle aged. His idea is that new treatments will add more healthy years to life than time takes away, until we achieve "longevity escape velocity". Once aging is brought under comprehensive medical control, people won't die of the usual cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer's... that leaves accidents and the like. Based on actuarial tables, that would mean a 1,000 year lifespan.

That would suck if you just become more and more decrepit. But once these treatments work, anyone receiving them would be biologically 25-30, regardless of how many birthdays they've celebrated. They'd look/feel 30 until eventually those 1 in a million odd events start catching up with them. You can probably go 80 years without getting hit by a bus. But not 2,000.

Here's one article from earlier this year

First human to live 1,000 years may already be alive says scientist fighting to end ageing

THE FIRST human to live for over 1,000 years is probably already alive according to Dr Aubrey de Grey, a British scientist who is working to stop human ageing.

However the leading scientist called for a dramatic increase in funding for research aimed at stopping ageing, arguing it will revolutionise human society.

Speaking to Express.co.uk Dr de Grey stated massive advances in the fight against ageing have been made over the past two decades.

He said: “Oh a huge amount of progress has been made - absolutely immense.

“Over the past 15 years the whole concept that I first started putting forward about 20 years ago of comprehensively repairing the molecular and cellular damage that the body does to itself throughout life, that concept has become not only totally mainstream; we’ve seen enormous progress towards actually doing it in the laboratory and even now in the clinic.

Kellyanne Conway leaving White House

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway, one of President Donald Trump’s longest-serving aides, announced late on Sunday that she would leave the administration at the end of August.

Her husband, George Conway III, a fierce critic of the president, announced that he was withdrawing from the Lincoln Project, an organization working to defeat Trump in November. Conway said she and her husband were making changes based on what they thought was best for their children.

From all accounts, it seems like this is the first time such a claim is true. (Politician or quasi-politician quitting for the family.) It seems like the daughter was going off a cliff and both parents quit their day jobs to deal with it.

Genetically modified mosquitoes have been OK’d for a first U.S. test flight

After a decade of fits and starts, officials in the Florida Keys have voted to allow the first test in the United States of free-flying, genetically modified mosquitoes as a way to fight the pests and the diseases they spread.

The decision came after about two hours of contentious testimony in a virtual public hearing on August 18. Many speakers railed against uncertainties in releasing genetically engineered organisms. In the end, though, worries about mosquito-borne diseases proved more compelling. On the day of the vote, dengue fever cases in Monroe County, where the Keys are located, totaled 47 so far in 2020, the first surge in almost a decade.

Half of Singles Don’t Want a Relationship or Even a Date

A just-released report from the Pew Research Center sends a dagger straight through the heart of a popular mythology—the one that insists that what single people want, more than anything else, is to become coupled. So untrue. The findings, based on a national, random sampling of nearly 5,000 adults in the U.S., showed that 50 percent of single people are not interested in a committed romantic relationship and they are not even interested in a date.

Appeals court rejects Michael Flynn’s attempt to have criminal case dismissed

Retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn lost another attempt to have his case dismissed after the case had already been decided by a judge.

It was just months ago that the Justice Department, led by Attorney General Bill Barr, attempted to drop the charges against Flynn for lying under oath to the FBI.

The decision was 8-2 with dissenting justices coming from an appointed judge from President Donald Trump and the other from former President Ronald Reagan.
