Indica lovers

Who else prefers Indica strains? I'm back to vaping indica and indica dominant hybrid strains almost exclusively. The only Sativa I still have on hand is Sour Diesel. I can't do a lot of Sativas due at least in part to my anxiety issues. They're generally too racy for me and can induce paranoia and uncomfortable thought processes more easily.

Indicas don't exacerbate my anxiety and some of them actively reduce my anxiety. The one strain that comes to mind is Bubba Kush, that stuff actually slows my heart rate. I tend to feel extremely calm and serene after medicating with that strain. Any tension in my chest or elsewhere throughout my body just melts away. Noticeably more than with other strains. It's absolutely my favorite. Other favorites include:

Blackberry Kush
Crystal Ship (Kali Mist x Kodiak Gold, indica-dom)
Black Cherry Soda
Grand Daddy Purple

I grew up on Indica living in New York, which tends to be the case I guess since it's more cost effective to grow, and I always wished I could have access to more Sativa strains. Then I finally did and ended up not being a huge fan. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Have you tried Pre 98 Bubba Kush? Some real nice stuff :brow:

I like hybrids and indicas more, yeah. Good for pain, nausea, appetite stimulation, melting into bed at night  I can't do sativas for too long because my anxiety starts to flare up like you. I like a good Haze but I'll pick a well-grown OG or Kush over it most of the time.

Earth OG (favorite planetary strain), Fire OG, LA Confidential, Herojuana, God's Gift, are indicas I like.

Having at least partial sativa genetics really opens up your possibilities. Almost all the grapefruit, citrusy, strawberry, etc flavors are from sativas. Sativa content will also boost the yield. Hybrids w/ less than 40% sativa content don't typically express what many consider undesirable effects.

Most chemdawgs, og's, kush's are indica dominant. Each breeder tends to use (abuse) their own terminology.

This is a good site to see what the genealogy of a particular strain is to see if it works for you:

http://en.seedfinder.eu/

You can learn more about strains by searching alphabetically, by breeder, etc. Many have pics, grow reports and general impressions as well.

I vape almost exclusively Indicas as well. I don't sleep well after vaping Sativas.

It was funny because the other day I picked up a few new strains from a local dispensary. I tried one of them last Sunday night and noticed that I did not sleep very well. I also had very vivid dreams (I do not usually). I shrugged it off until the following night when I went to bed after vaping the same strain. My mind was racing and it suddenly hit me that this new strain must be a Sativa. Sure enough, I looked up the strain in the morning and it was indeed a Sativa-dominant hybrid (AK-47). It was mis-labeled by the dispensary as an Indica and you can bet your bottom dollar that I'll give them an earful about it next time I go in there. Hopefully they'll compensate me with a free gram or two. :brow:

Interesting topic. For the past few months I have been 90% on sativas and really found that I missed a good indica. I find that if you build up your tolerance to a sativa you end of vaping a hell of a lot of the stuff.

I do recall years ago being stuck with nothing but a really heavy indica for a few months and it really did my head in :(

Sativas make me bitchy. Okay, we'll call it anxiety/hostility issues.

I live on Indicas. :)

Favorites:

NYC Diesel
GDP, when I can get it
Platinum OG
Purple Kush

Being blessed with being so close to a weekly farmer's market, I do try a lot of others, which all seem to be named somewhat randomly at times.

.....live for the indica's...I humbly pledge my allegiance...to the mighty indica...romulan, grape romulan, platinum romulan are the latest manifestations....
....my theory....you are first attracted to the sativa's when you're young....as you get older...indica's become more relevant...

When i combusted I was a huge indica fan but for some reason the earthy taste just isn't very pleasant in a vaporizer IMO.

When you say OG do you mean ocean grown, or organic or what?

Many different beliefs from ocean grown (to distinguish it from the kush being grown in the mountains), to orangutan ganja (what bhudda smoked w/ orangutans) to 'original gangster'. Even some of the overgrow guys try to take responsibility. I never saw cannabis labeled 'og' before the 90's (ocean grown terminology = 70's) and doubt the buddhist teachings are well known enough to westerners to abbreviate this quote in a somewhat obscure story.

It is usually a chemdawg x: {Lemon Thai x Hindu Kush, Pakistan} Wherever it originated, the gangstas out of Compton made it a household name and the seedbanks jumped on it.

Info on the different cuttings of OG Kush (from seedfinder):

* Tahoe: cut brought into the community by Swerve. The grower that Swerve got it from had sourced the cut in the Lake Tahoe area in the 90's.
* Larry: The Orange County Larry cut that is availble in the medical scene came from the same Orange County crew that the H.A O.G Kush came from
* SFV: There are a million O.G cuts grown in the S.F.V, however the cut that goes by this name on these forums and in medical disp. came from forum member Swerve
* Ghost: This cut came from ORGNKID, ORGNKID had sold a O.G cut to a Overgrow forum member named "Ghost" who further distributed the cut.
* Tripple OG: This cut came from ORGNKID. This cut is A.K.A Triple X/XXX O.G Kush. Triple O.G was popularly sold to medical patients by the now defunct C.A.L.M disp. of Malibu.
* Abusive: This cut was brought into the community by an overgrow member named "Abusive", believe it or not Abusive claimed to have got the cut through the rapper Snoop Dogg.
* SAC#2: Cut brought into the scene by forum member O.Gkushman, O.Gkushman got the cut from DJ Muggs.
* P.R OG A.K.A Private Reserve O.G: Another O.G cut that ORGNKID brought into the scene. The cut was sold to Med patients as Private Reserve O.G through the now defunct C.A.L.M disp. of Malibu.
* Apothecary: O.G cut brought into the scene by the apothecary seed co's Brett. Brett got it from a high profile Medical MJ activist in L.A back in 1999
* Diablo: This = cut came from the R.D.C disp. In the San Fernando Valley
* Raskal's OG: Another cut sourced in the San Fernando Valley. Cut was bought for several thousand dollers from ******* ***** members by a friends of forum member OGraskal
* HA OG: Cut came from an commercial H.A room in Orange County, grown by the same crew that brought the Orange County Larry cut into the medical Disp.
* Poison OG: Cut came from O.Gkushman, he grew it from seed found in a pound of O.G back in ‘96
* SAC#1 & SAC#3: #1 came from G-Thumb in the San Fernando Valley, #3 came from San Fernando Valley but is very popular in Santa Barbara and sometimes goes by the name “Purple O.G Kush”, the cut was brought into the scene by the owner of the now defunct Hortipharm in Santa Barbara

I can see myself in the posts above cause during my early toking days I was attract by the relaxing effect from hash and MJ (indica). Rapidly then I tend to search and love sativas for the euphoric/social effect and the exotic taste as well. Weed is illegal where I live but with a kind of small tolerance toward simple consumer, also Netherlands isn't far...

After quitting combustion I've found how much “more high” could be vaping and successfully managing the physical addiction from the smoke (I've never smoked tobacco or almost never). I had difficulties to not smoke anytime, even if it was only a few puffs just for the fact to smoke. Vaping really helped me to use and respect MJ in better suited moments. I don't consider myself medicinal user, I clearly use it recreational but I can say I benefit from mj in a medicinal way (I do have some "vertebra back dis-formation”) which can lead to muscle pain when I over do stuff (weight, work, …)

Let's get to the topic now : recently I’ve experienced anxiety in a way I've never had in the past. I think my current personal situation is the reason and I interpret it as a body signal. So i'm now making some small break (monday till friday) but mostly I tend to try to use more indicas and I will start to produce my own to control everything. On the black market you don't know the strain you get and when you know it, it is probably harvested too early and thus giving the kind of high I’m trying to skip at the moment.

I like many indicas strains for the taste as well. From kush to indicas. My aim will be to find some pure genetic like afghan and other cross as well. For example I always loved the Hindu Kush and Mazar !

Thumb up for SEED FINDER : an amazing job those peoples are doing !

Glad to find this thread :). Been experimenting with strains and im currently moving into full indicas and indica dominant hybrids. This looks like a good read to help me learn :). Been having heart issues with the sativas seem to exacerbate :( so while I like the mood boost and motivation im giving them a break except for some occasional Jack H in the morning

....I take meds for hypertension....I was instructed to (although I knew it already) tro concentrate on the indics's....sativa's have a tendency to elevate blood pressure...I do admit to indulging in a nice hybrid when the mood hits...

Any you recommend for daytime @turk ? I can find a lot of indica advertised for sleep and PM but I need an AM strain too.

Maybe some high indica hybrid : like 30% sativa ?
Also they are some "sativa dominant" strains, which they claim to be working nicely against anxiety, or doesn’t induce much of it.
I don't know if this is relevant.
Seeing where you are situated, analyzing buds under a microscope and asking for high CBD strain wouldn't be too difficult ? If you need AM strain for pain, I guess high CBD strain would be nice : not too much psychoactive while providing the deal for the pain.

How would one discern the CBD levels by looking through a microscope?

....in San Francisco many dispensaries will display the chemical breakdown of their meds on the label (if pre-packadged) or Jar.....this is not true with all dispensaries but if it is important to you, cou can certainly find dispensaries that will accomadate....so no microscope necessary...:)
