Hi there, I have just learned of the ability to "dry vape" marijuana, I am very excited and am looking for a quick recommendation, a bit of back story...
I am a 50 something yr old wife, my husband later 50's we have "smoked" in our past life when we were younger before we had our kids , sadly my husband has recently begun treatments for stage 4 colon cancer , and we have decided to invest in easing his side effects without a trip to the pharmacy, I am in love with the idea that this can be vaped and really could use help picking the right vaporizer.... any tips as well, thank you for your time,

Welcome @Hiswife - there's certainly a ton of info on this board, and almost any vape you can purchase has some kind of thread here. If you plan to vape primarily at home one of the log vapes might be worth a look. Underdog, ENano or WoodScents are leaading contenders and you cannot go wrong with most logs. They are simple, quiet and very efficient plus they are beautiful.

For a true medical user, make sure you get a vape that can be thoroughly cleaned. Many on chemo/radiation have a devil of a time fighting off simple infections.

Hi , we haven't smoked in years... we've used bongs and pies as well as rolled , but like I said have no recent use so we are "new" to this , as far as price I'm not looking to spend too much over 200.. also he is having chemo which has its own side effects one being cold sensitivity, also his immune system will have to be guarded, so cleanability is important, I would prefer something portable that he can have on him wherever we go. thanks so much for your time and knowledge

Another thing to consider is where you plan on using it, and how often will it be used. I started off with battery operated vapes before I added a few that require power. In my opinion, the plug in ones offer far better performance.

I love my Solo and my Air, and only mention it as Arizer has a sale currently where if you buy any vape, you get an Arizer Air for free. Both the Solo and Air are on sale for $134.99 ( on the Arizer website). With the BOGO, you both could get a vape to start your journey into vaping, if they interest you. I'd suggest the DynaVap VapCap, but you'd need to use a lighter, torch or induction heater to heat it, and I'm not sure if that would be convenient for you.

@Hiswife .... I'm going to take it for granted that you have access to flower at your pharmacy and that it's flower your after and not a cartridge/concentrate/oil pen/vape.

I couldn't agree more with @Madri-Gal when she suggests availing yourself of the Arizer BOGO. You can't go wrong with the Solo (Not the Solo II). My wife and I have a decent vape collection but the Solo's battery life, glass vapor path, taste, simplicity, sturdiness/bomb proof and ease of cleaning is hard to beat.

In your situation a back up vape is a must and the Air vaporizer that they give you on the BOGO is way more than a back up. The other added value is that the stems from the Solo and Air are interchangeable so you'll have 4 glass stems to start off with. Our Solo's, even with all the other great vapes we own ALWAYS gets used daily. It's my wife's favorite couch vape.

The Solo and Air BOGO is a great idea for you and your hubby.

My personal recommendation is a log vape. Assuming you have access to good quality product. They are not portable, but are otherwise versatile. It takes small loads. You can leave them on 24/7 so they are always ready to hit as needed. Can use through glass pieces if you want to cool the vapor.

You might also want to consider the EVO. All glass air path.

If you are in a legal state check what local resources are available, some areas have medical marijuana support groups that can be very helpful. As to a particular vape I would look for ease of use and low maintenance over flash and monster hits. I agree with the suggestions for Solo/Air/ArGo. The Arizer BOGO deal is nice. I recently gifted a Solo II to my 60 year old parents and it has been working great for them.

A log would also be a great choice for home use. Similar to the Arizer vapes in that it uses a glass stem, but it will extract faster and more efficiently. The E-Nano runs about $200.

These are very reliable and easy to use options.

My wife has been battling breast cancer since May '19, although I will say things have gotten easier. Thankfully the worst is behind us. Have you looked into Rick Simpson Oil (RSO)? It's a full spectrum extraction that is longer lasting than any vaping will be. That said, vaping does help a great deal for immediate affects, whereas RSO is digested and can take little while to kick in. Oh, BTW longest lasting and best absorption hands down are suppositories

That said, even though my wife is a terrible stoner (she really is just not into it) she was really helped through her treatment by my vapes and her RSO. She enjoyed my ArGo, as I am sure you will yours. Prayers and good vibes to you both! YaMon

I’d second the RSO recommendation, but add that it’s very strong so it’s probably a good idea to dilute it in whatever kind of oil you like, and I prefer putting it in capsules which you can buy online or from health food or supplement stores.

I’m not dealing with the same kind of pain, but for me edibles (including RSO) combined with vapor offer the best pain relief. They’re processed differently by our bodies, so it’s not the same to just use more of one or the other.

Topical creams can help with things closer to the surface too, but they’re probably not as useful in your husband’s case.
