I agree about getting a plug-in. Here is a link to an underdog sale. No one will know what it is- especially if you use the copper aromatherapy cup. It just looks like an attractive piece of hand made wood: It comes with several stems of your choice including one you can use with water.

Also the ones recommended: arizer solo or air (both on sale at PIU), underdog, magic flight box are all simple to clean.

Before I started vaping I was using almost exclusively waterfalls for months... I started with a cheap Chinese vape and already knew it was for me, as soon as I got the solo it was game over. Not remember my last gravity. Also you can make waterfall/gravity vapor, relativly easy, with twice the efficency and better effect.

An actual waterfall or gravity bong, if you're that way inclined... Obviously just a normal bong is easier.

As a new vaporist, you can't beat a Haze V3 for a portable, or a super efficient easy to use Underdog for a plug in. They sometimes dip below $200 depending on sales.

Once you get vaping down, great inexpensive vapes are the Vapman, and the MFLB which are torch and battery operated respectively, but both now have awesome plug in options that take away in the former, and greatly reduce in the latter, any chance of combustion. Great wood flavor in both. However, I recommend those to someone with a little vaping experience.

You would love an EVO for both ease of use, quality, and how high it gets you but that's an investment, a worthy one and now a much more affordable, but still an investment. This is pure glass med grade stuff here though. Get one eventually

Ask @scottg402 about the Haze V3, or the @underdogette about the Underdog though. Those were the best vapes for me to start getting serious with, and the former is one of the few portable easy to use vapes that will satisfy a hard core vapist as well. You simply won't get as high, or get the flavor out of any other mainstream battery portables unless you really hike up the price and those aren't as sturdy. With the Dog you get an affordable plug in, no learning curve, and you save a ton of herb.

Hope this helps, and welcome here.

P.S. Unless you are only into e-liquid, forget about pens until the Grasshopper comes out. Also you don't need to spend a fortune on a good vape, but get a well regarded brand, from an authorized dealer. Stay away from Ebay, Amazon etc.

Vaping is healthier for you than smoking. And the high does take a bit of getting used to when all you have done is smoke. And there are a ton of vapes out there that will get you very high, and yes... even make you cough, whether they be portable or desktop. I would strongly urge you to make the change over to vaping for your health's sake alone.

However....

This forum is for mature adults only. We don’t want to hear about you needing to hide things from your parents

And I sense that is exactly what you are trying to do.

thanks for all the replies. The vapes I have tried have been I guess no names. 60-70 dollar vapes...

but one guy told me that I need to get one with a high voltage or OHM battery...something about the more powerful battery the better the hit.

I went to a vape shop and the guy recommended me the PAX. Its about $200 USD with some kind of 10 year warranty.

Now Im looking for a vape thats not a nightmare to clean or one thats not going to get clogged. Many times using a vape I found it clogged.

Some of these vapes cost as much as an ounce of high grade. So I would be pretty pissed if it didnt get me high compared to say, from a water gravity bong like this

grandma-marijuana-300x300.png

some people might laugh at a gravity bong but its actually quite good. its very cheap to make, and it always got me very high, and the most important thing of all, I needed VERY little weed to get VERY HIGH....
with that said where I live I cant use this, so I think a vape would be better. but expensive.

so I am looking to spend no more then $200...I think even 200 is barbaric to spend on a tool thats going to get me high. Part of me would just want to buy rolling papers for $1 and then just get some high grade...

but its cold and I keep getting in trouble for going up and down the stairs everytime I smoke outside. SO this is why I was looking at a vape. I think it will keep the smell down I just blow out the window... with a bowl its already burning in the room and will smell more

please excuse me for my ignorance but is there a difference from vape vs combustion? I thought it was the same thing
Might I recommend an underdog vape. They are around 200 dollars and work excessively well

Hey man, welcome again!

Thanks for adding some more details to your post. As you can see, we like to get a pretty full picture here.

Big difference between vaping and combusting. Combustion puts alot of shit into your lungs that you really won't want.

You mentioned that you're tempted to buy rolling papers and buy high grade...but trust me on this. A small investment in a vaporizer may leave you just buying mids this time...but you'll use so much less weed over the long run that you'll be able to buy high grade every time after.

Some folks have mentioned the Haze V3, and I absolutely second that choice. This vape will demolish that pax, it is super easy to clean and produces thick, potent vapor with its 4 heat settings. Also pretty small and discrete. It usually retails around 250, slightly over your budget but it is worth every penny!

And I will also recommend the Underdog log vaporizer for a second time. I own quite a few vapes now, but I wish I would have bought an Underdog first! It heats up pretty quick, is beautiful hand-turned wood, can be had within your budget. If they refill their Holiday Vapes you could have one in hand with a variety of stems for about 160. I cannot emphasize enough how great these vapes are. They are among the most efficient vaporizers on the market and this vape hits like an absolute truck! Hell, you could get a Holiday Underdog and a nice cheap Bubbler from DHGate and be completely set for right around your 200 dollar budget.

Trust me man. Save your money, save your health....buy a quality Vape. I guarantee if you start vaping and STOP combusting you will save quite a bit of money over the course of the year. If you want any more information feel free to ask or PM me.

Best of luck man, thanks for stopping in again and thanks for considering joining the FC family!

Might I recommend checking the fucking combustion page on ask FC I think it's on the 2nd page. It will give pointers on how to stop combustion. Such as starting at higher Temps for the first week or two since you're used to smoking and bigger hits. Thanks @CarolKing

I have been thinking about it. And I do make enough money to get the best vape money can buy, and since I am a smoker, and I am getting older, maybe its a good investment Is it true that the mighty and crafty are the "rolls royce" of vaping?

My other friend who put me on to vaping said I should NOT spend money an expensive vape because I might "burn the coil out", but one other guy at a store said that the might and crafty have "no resistance" compared to other vapes, so you wont really burn the coil out and I wont need to pull so slow...

my friend burned his coil out a couple times, and hes bought like 3 vapes already, each time spending 40-80 US Dollars on a new one...he could have just gotten a top of the line one and maybe not burned his coil...maybe his was cheap, I dont know.

But now im looking at the crafty, because I hear there is no resistance, and I will get full clean hits. I keep hearing its the best.....

is this crafty worth it? I can find them for about $300, thats $100 more then what I was starting out with, but if its really worth it, Ill pull the trigger and buy it, if its really the best

I understand there is a rule of thumb that it takes a while to "become one with your vape" is the crafty one that you could just throw fat nugs in and burn it and get big hits like a bong?

If you have bulk coin and want to advance you're recration (relatively speaking considering the saved herb if you are a high income earner even the top of the top vaporizers aren't bank breaking) then check out some good ones and you'll see what it's all about. I have used a mighty which is a big brother to the crafty. I can say that just from using it the thing is amazing! However I wasn't running the operation so no idea how packing and cleaning does. Little draw resistance and hugeeeee clouds!

If you've decided on the crafty that's great. But the Haze is a wonderful portable and has great customer service. It also has a 10 year vs a 2 year warranty. More importantly "the best" is pretty subjective. Crafty owners will say it's the best; many say the vapman is "the best". I'm hoping the Zion will be the best based on reports from those who have tried it. But so far I find the Haze ti be "the best" portable.

When you say coils that brings e-liquid vapes to mind. Only garbage Chinese dry herb vape pens use coils for the most part. I think you're getting these confused. All the top portables don't use 'coils', their heat is typically generated in other ways. Also like Maggie said, the best is very subjective. Which is why many of us have multiple vapes at our disposal. You're best bet is use the search feature and do a lot of research for yourself and you decide the 'best' vape for YOUR needs.

VapeXhale Cloud Evo Vaporizer. Haven't tried it but its a top tier vape. Like to see you try pretend your not high after a few lung fulls on that. It definitely has the ability to make you cough if that's what your after. Although coughing is something most of us here would try and avoid.

Listen to @NickDlow and do some serious homework before you drop $300 on a vaporizer. Right now you're using terms you don't understand, so no one can help you until you educate yourself.

Just an aside: There was a marijuana crossword puzzle in a local paper. I didn't have time to look at it except for one question: What's the central part of a vaporizer. The correct answer was: coil.
I got it wrong.

@pressure the mighty and crafty are good because they are portables with a reliable temperature dial. People here care a lot about the temperature they vape at. Mighty and Crafty are easy to use. I would say though that the flavour is muted in these devices because of the plastic when compared to other vapes.

It is really the fact that they are made by Storz and Bickel the company that created the world famous Volcano that makes them so popular. People trust this company health wise.

Personally I own a Mighty. It performs well. BUT I think the bowl is too big and it doesn't allow you to stop half way so as to pick it up later, as the heat from the machine cooks the rest of the herb even when you've stopped vaping. So a lot of wasted herb and brain cells. Also as I've said the flavour is sometimes muted by the plastic.

Saying that I can't think of a portable that will pack as big of a punch as the Mighty.

Also a good desktop vape will always out perform a good portable. At least at this point in time

I ended up getting the mighty

I was going to get the crafty but for a couple dollars more would get a better device.

I wanted the worlds best portable vape, and i think i made the right choice. For the next 2 years i dont have to worry about it breaking forever

I'm saving alot of weed. I wanted one with no resistance and its great.

I put a tiny bit off weed, similar to my water gravity bong and just as high

No more smoking paper chemicals

So i think i made the right choice

400 is alot but I'm saving in weed since i don't need to use as much

Agree with assessment on Mighty, I find the flavor not as good as my Haze or Underdog and the vapor seems harsher on my throat.

I understand some use the concentrate mesh pad to create false bulk in order to vape smaller bowls in the Mighty. Not sure if it works, but I think I read that somewhere.

It is because THC is an expectorant, and as such, it will make you cough ;)

I realize that many believe this to be true but I've never seen any scientific studies that makes this claim. If you can post up any studies that show that THC is in fact, an expectorant, I'd really like to see it.

The ONLY time THC makes me cough is if I take a hit that is too large for my lungs to handle. The way I see it, the only way that THC can be viewed as an expectorant is it's effect on the body's involuntary response to a foreign substance if you ingest too much of that foreign substance all at once.

I've always heard it's an expectorant, but in looking for data I only see it referenced anecdotally. The closest I saw was in Jack Herer's Emperor Wears no Clothes:

http://www.jackherer.com/emperor-3/chapter-7/

The study he references is this, but I couldn't find it on google:
(Tashkin, Dr. Donald, UCLA Pulmonary Studies (for smoked marijuana), 1969-2007; Ibid., asthma studies, 1969-1976; Cohen, Sidney, & Stillman, Therapeutic Potential of Marijuana, 1976; Life Insurance Actuarial rates; Life shortening effects of childhood asthma, 1983.)
