He sent a separate Messenger just to me, with some important info and now…..poof….gone.
And they don't still have the info to re-send? Or are you out of contact with them now?
I know that it doesn't help you now, but I worked as an Apple sales and service specialist for a decade, and I had customers come in occasionally with something missing from their Messages app. Unfortunately your messages in the Messages app don't get backed up to iCloud with your phone's regular backups. So, if something get's accidentally deleted, then it's most likely gone for good. That being said...for future reference I suggest that anytime you get something important in your messages, that you save it somewhere that it gets backed up, like Photos. If it's an image that you were sent, then save it to Photos.. If it's just text or something else, then at least screenshot it and save it to Photos.
Do you have a Mac computer, or any other Apple device (like another iOS device) that might be synced up with your phone's Messages app? If so, check the Messages app on those devices, just incase there may still be a copy of the message there. If you're unsure, then check the Messages app settings menu in your phone's settings app, and see if it has any other devices shown that it's forwarding your text messages to. Unlikely, but it's worth a check.
