I made oil. Now what?

Hi,

I did a lot of reading and eventually started extracting what was left on the glass wand of my silver surfer.

I used everclear and then strained evaporated it down to this.

So my question is what can I do with this and how to I get it or if my bowl?

Namaste

Edit..

Sorry not sure why I can't get the pictures up again. But it looks like dark sticky stuff.

What was on your silver surfer wand is what is called reclaim, which is already good to go and did not require you to use ethanol to collect and evaporate.

Next time, just scrape the reclaim up and put it on a banger or in your vape or whatever you want, eat it if you want, I believe it's already decarbed as well. Just don't bother processing it.

Ethanol extraction is a process used for fresh material which has not been consumed yet, as a means of stripping the cannabinoid glands from the plant material. It is not worth the time/money to use it for ABV or reclaim.

Update...

I added 1/2 a cup of chocolate and poured it into six molds. I ate one plus I licked the bowl and spatula. I had an amazing journey :)

@seaofgreens thanks for the information. I like the oil process and see the value in it for making edibles. I would think the filtering removes some nasty flavors. BTW I used half of a $16 bottle of everclear.

I finally had a chance to figure out this picture upload thing. So this is the pictures to go with the above post.

1) cleaned the wand in everclear. it only took a few minutes of agitating and it was completely clean.

2) Stained it through coffee filter and metal strainer.

3) Evaporated the alcohol off with a double boiler.

4) It cooled down to this sticky stuff. I tasted it straight up( its very bitter)

5) I mixed in a half cup of chocolate that is used to make candies. You can purchase chocolate at any big box craft store.

6) Set it in molds. I pulled it out to soon they they all broke a bit but they work very well.

Yeah, an hour or so in the fridge helps. Plus you've got a few air bubbles there. After pouring tap the mould a bit to let 'em out. It that doesn't work then your chocolate needs to be slightly warmer.
But they look great, y' know - a little bit dangerous!

Don't think we can get everclear or a substitute here in the UK - can anyone correct me on this?

Keep up the good work.

Skip steps 1-4. Seriously. You are mixing it into flavorful chocolate, it doesn't matter if a little bit of particulate comes along for the ride. The extraction is not needed/useful.

Check this link out for instance:

The reclaim is already activated, which means it is ingestible without further processing if I am not mistaken. Just drip it into the chocolate, mix it all up, and you have yourself activated treats with no other steps required.

I get that you can just consume this stuff in many ways. But is it that much easier? I'm didn't know how to get it all out of the glass and scraping is a pain in the a$$. The cost factor about $9. Time wise it took about an hour but not constant attention.

Thanks for the information

Or warm it.

You don't have to do a whole lot with a torch lighter to quickly warm the surface of the wand. Hold the wand directly over the batch of chocolate, heat it a bit and let heat and gravity pool the oil to the tip. Let the reclaim drip down into the mixture, and add a bit more heat as needed to continue the process. That's really it.

That's awesome! I actually asked the forum in another post how to clean my wand. I got impatient and did it the long way. I didn't think of heating it.

This is what I did with some infused coconut oil I made with AVB. I used a really dark chocolate, and the end result actually tasted better to me than the chocolate by itself. The mold I had made smaller candies. I got 60 out of a 1/2 cup batch of oil and chocolate, and 3 of them provided a really nice lift!

So my question is what can I do with this

Definitely, chocolate is an excellent way to use and share edibles.

Here's a recent bbc post -

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-39067088

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chocolate contains a number of interesting psychoactive chemicals. These include anandamide, a neurotransmitter whose name comes from the Sanskrit - "ananda", meaning "joy, bliss, delight".
Anandamides stimulate the brain in much the same way that cannabis does.
It also contains tyramine and phenylethylamine, both of which have similar effects to amphetamines.
Finally, if you look hard enough, you will find small traces of theobromine and caffeine, both of which are well-known stimulants.
Perhaps with added mango?
interesting. chocolate treats. i'm thinking i'll try infusing coconut oil next and make some chocolates. what ratio of oil to chocolate are you guys using? i could do this with butter as well no?
reclaim... so if i was using a crockpot to infuse my butter or coconut oil, i could just add saved up reclaim and it will melt/infuse into the mix right?
I have made chocolate treats with infused coconut oil. I tried a few different ratios and my experience is coconut oil is very forgiving. Coconut oil is a solid at room temperature so it's easy to get it to set. I would determine volume of chocolate by how many servings you want out of your infused oil.
what ratio
Yeah, like @in8won says it's about..
volume of chocolate
To expand on that a little - figure out how much chocolate you want to eat to get the hit you want.
For me a 50 gram bar's plenty.
My sativa infused coconut oil does the trick very nicely with 1 teaspoon - that's 5 grams.
So, if I want to make a batch of 4 bars (200g) I'd add 20g of the coconut oil.
Here's the recipe I used. If the link doesn't work (since I'm not sure if I've copy/pasted correctly) it is on one of the more recent pages of the thread about infusing oil/butter with a Mota pot.
Anyone try ABV Butter using a Mota Pot?
I did this with AVB and I don't think it would work with reclaim in the Mota pot, but it shows what proportions of oil and chocolate I used for my candy.
so i infused coconut oil with sativa dominant strains. the end result was very nice! definitely very uplifting, energetic effects. used about 1 part coconut oil to 2,3 parts chocolate, made about 20 chocolates in a mold. 2 was very nice. one was a proper dose for those who tried...
having my own coconut oil and butter handy, i've been over-consuming edibles and vaping extremely less. a few days this week i didn't even touch my vapes because the edibles had me in such a nice place!!
Thanks for all the info/ideas!
Would be my pleasure!
On top I mixed cannabutter with peanut butter and graham crackers to create a peanut butter cookie base, then topped with chocolate. That right there is a huge dose. Half of that is sufficient for great effects. I like this recipe because it was a 'no bake' recipe, and tasted fantastic!
Below that are the chocolates I made from my sativa dominant coconut oil!
To the right is my beloved ebony wood Vapman!
BLjrupB.jpg
This is the butter I made alongside my first experiment, peanut butter n chocolate cookies. These were off the hook. One cookie was amazing, half a cookie was my recommended dose.
ZHZiPoX.jpg
I used half of what butter remained in that dish to create the peanutterbutter graham cookie topped with chocolate in the first picture...
I'm thinking next I might make peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate, mixing butter with the peanut butter, and coconut oil mixed with the chocolate to create a stupidly potent treat with a nice sativa kick! :D
You can add the oil or butter into any recipe. I made some chocolate cupcakes and used extra oil they tasted wonderful. I couldn't even taste the cannabis flavor, they had a buttery taste. I also made some banana bread it turned out good too and no taste of cannabis, I still have some of it in the freezer. One and a half slices is the dosage, depending on the slice. I used as much oil as I could in the recipe.
Try a recipe that calls for a lot of oil or butter. You will need to keep your temp while cooking around 300 - 325 degrees in the oven. Banana flavor, peanut butter and chocolate do a good job at masking the cannabis taste.
I made some shortbread cookies with some infused butter they tasted like cannabis and were a light green color. They didn't have that great of a flavor.
I made this recipe a while back. Thought I'd share. I've noticed the video portion isn't working but the recipe is there.
Video recipe: Spanakopita with crispy phyllo, thanks to canna-olive oil
This spanakopita recipe is a “healthy” comfort food. Spinach, ricotta, cannabis … three of my favorites right there. The canna-olive oil crisps the paper-thin sheets of phyllo dough and renders them too good to believe.
This is a good recipe but I used just the ricotta cheese. I used a little more canna oil. The uneaten piece I froze in the freezer in individual slices. I used 7% fat lean ground beef not turkey. You can vary this recipe anyway you want. I also used a brush and I brushed the extra oil I added on the noodles. I kept the heat at 340 degrees. I was worried about the high heat in the recipe. I figured inside wouldn't get as hot as the outside while baking.
Great Edibles Recipes: Classic Cannabis Lasagna
Cassidy Wolfe
Great-Edibles-Recipes-Classic-Cannabis-Lasagna-Weedist-640x425.jpg
Lasagna is a classic Italian-style dish that has delicious noodles, meat and Italian cheeses all layered into a perfect stack-able pasta casserole. This medicated recipe features an ooey, gooey lasagna made with ground turkey, fresh lasagna noodles and three cheeses to yield a meal that makes your head, heart and stomach happy.
Serves 6-8
Here’s What You Need:
  • 1 lb ground organic turkey (you may substitute beef)
  • 3 tablespoons cannabis-infused extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium onion (finely diced)
  • 2 cloves of garlic (finely minced)
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 (8 oz) jar of tomato sauce
  • 1 (6 oz) can of tomato paste
  • 1 (8 oz) box of no-boil lasagna noodles
  • 2 large organic eggs
  • 1½ cups cottage cheese
  • ½ cup ricotta cheese
  • ¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (8 oz) bag shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 (8 oz) bag shredded cheddar cheese
How to Make Classic Cannabis Lasagna
To begin, preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Next, lightly grease a 13 x 9 x 2″ baking dish (or something of similar size and depth) with some nonstick cooking spray.
Then, heat up 3 tablespoons of cannabis-infused extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet over medium to medium-low heat (you don’t want the oil to smoke).
After, dice the onions, mince the garlic, and chop the parsley.
Then, add the diced onions and minced garlic to your hot skillet. Season with 1 teaspoon of salt and ½ teaspoon of black pepper and stir well to combine.
Proceed to add in the ground turkey meat, stirring with a wooden spoon to ensure that all the ground turkey is broken up some.
Continue to cook the ground turkey and onions, crumbling the meat up as you cook it, until all of the meat has been browned.
After the turkey meat is finished cooking, drain any excess fat from the skillet into a disposable heat-safe container (I like to save old coffee cans for this reason. Pouring grease down your drain can cause clogs later).
Once the fat has been drained, add the can of stewed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste. Put your skillet back on the stove top over medium-heat.
Stir well, and then place the lid on your skillet and allow the contents to simmer for 15 minutes. Don’t forget to stir occasionally.
Then, in a large bowl, beat the 2 eggs and then proceed to add in the 1½ cups cottage cheese, ½ cup ricotta cheese, ½ cup of Parmesan cheese (the remaining ¼ cup will be used to crown the lasagna), 2 teaspoons of chopped parsley, 1 teaspoon of salt, and your remaining ½ teaspoon of black pepper. Stir well to combine.
After, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of your prepped baking dish and proceed to lay the lasagna noodles over top, making sure to overlap the noodles by ½”.
Then, spread a thicker layer of the cottage-cheese mixture (using anywhere from one-third to one-half of the total mixture) over top the layer of lasagna noodles. Crown the cottage-cheese layer with half of the shredded mozzarella cheese as well as half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
After, pour more of the meat sauce on top of the cheese layer and repeat the layering process in the same order until your dish is full.
Finally, sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup of Parmesan cheese over the top of the lasagna dish.
Bake the lasagna for 30-35 minutes, or until the cheeses are completely melted and the sauce is hot and bubbling around the edges.
Carefully remove the dish from the oven and allow the lasagna to cool for 10 minutes before cutting and plating.
Serve this lasagna with your favorite type of fresh bread and enjoy!
It depends on the person as to the individual dose (slice). Go easy if this is the first time you've had a canna edible. With the 3 tablespoons of oil it shouldn't be too potent.
