I am the Dungeon Master of you.
Up top I want to thank everyone for past information I've gotten without even needing to register.

I am looking for a home vape that I will share with my wife who only smokes a hoot or two a week. We will use it in a private location with accessible power. I am about to buy a third vape and wanted some insight. I am hoping to pay between 100 and 150 dollars. I've got some history I'll share and I hope it results in some considered responses. If any vape dealers feel like contacting me the forum rules seem to indicate that you have to request permission somehow to do that, I am a fan of this.

My wish list.

1) price up to $200 but $150 is my comfort zone.
2) whip, are long whips bad?
3) temperature control
4) appearance. (those Hotbox look cool..)
5) ability to vape small amounts. My WISPR is great for this. My junk box isn't.
6) durability.
7) Canadian vendor

I have been smoking hand rolled(as well as bongs and pipes) for 25 years. For about the last decade I've smoked around 5/8th of an oz per week. I kind of got used to it. I am looking to smoke less and my current vape, a WISPR is great for it for me. It has some drawbacks for really heavy use(any hand vape would I think).

18 years ago I paid a lot of money for a super fantastic "vaporizer", it sucked. It was a soldering iron propped upwards with a herb bowl screwed into the top and a massive jar to capture massive plumes of vapor. It got used a few times and always ended in doobies and a jar that stank very weird. I gave it to a buddy who thought it looked cool.

I eventually tried a volcano next. I got passed a big silver balloon and I didn't really enjoy it. The bag was the issue I think. I just didn't enjoy the experience. It didn't replace the smoking feel to my satisfaction. The owner loved it. I don't want a bag system unless it also allows for a whip. I only actually name the volcano because temp control would be great to have.

Recently a friend got an iolite. Between hockey periods(20minutes) we vaped a chamber's worth. It was really cool. I could taste a stickiness in the back of my throat, it wasn't smoke but I really liked it. She was complaining about some things i've read since. I was most concerned with using a butane device.

I ended up preordering a WISPR to give myself for Fathers day from the wife. It cost a lot. I waited almost four months to try it after some failed release dates and customs(look ma, 40 buck customs). It was precisely what I wanted. I ran it all day for two weeks. It had a nice slope and kept me sizzled from about 9 am until 3 am. I swore off smoking completely. It was discrete enough that I could step outside, blast, and no one was wiser. I didn't stink! Wife kept sniffing my hands, smiling. Anyways it was a new life. I had removed Otto's jacket.

Two weeks later during a fill, the little butane injector valve bent and that was it. It stopped working. I don't blame the WISPR. In dog years I had already used it 100 fills. It didn't matter though, warrantee from the original vendor was easier than the factory one. The RMA took 45 days. I got it today.(I timed travelled you there. Get out of the Delorean. Stuff happened in meantime)

I had sworn off smoking. It turns out that no one likes the not stoned me. I smoked the next day. Broken WISPRs, failed promises. My wife was guilt mode on it, since she had authorized my self shop, somehow she felt she had failed me by not stopping my selection. She went on eBay and found a 40 buck junk box that seemed easy to hide in our locked bedroom that she bought to ease what I was told would take 9 days. The black shiny junk box had a long whip(20 inches, I converted that for your USA pleasure.) and a dial.

It was a junk box. The dial said 200-400. It vaped at some settings. It smoked at others. Since I had it two days later I didn't care. I figured it out and get consistent massive clouds of vapor I could fill that jar with. Occasionally it does seem to shift ranges though so I just don't trust it.

3 weeks ago the dealer contacted me and asked for a 15 dollar reduced shipping charge. Duur.

I picked up The WISPR today from post office. They sent me a completely new one without mentioning RMA customer return or warranty return on the box.(look ma, 40 bucks customs). My wife loves it but thinks for heavy mileage I should get a desk vape that works and was on eBay, I said...let's let FC give some input.

Ok...I like you for reading that. Get back in the Delorean. We need to deliver actual vaporizers...back to 1985!

I'll get in first to say that I think you should look at 7th floor- either a Da Buddah (DBV) or Silver Surfer (SSV). Big hitters with a whip, satisfying for an ex smoker. Small amounts can be done with either a screen modification, or a mini wand for the SSV (I don't ave one-limited availability from VaporBros.- discussed in another thread somewhere recently), although admittedly small amounts aren't it's forte- still very possible though. You should be able to get a slight second off ebay, which would fall nicely into your price range. They're reliable and effective- I think it should tick your boxes. :2c:

edit: actually just though they're not a canadian vendor for the cheap cosmetic seconds on ebay. Might be too expensive for you to get retail in Canada.

I expect there'll be lots of posts supporting log vapes for tiny amount effectiveness, but again they're ALL usa vendors at the moment.

:) the da Buddha is on my short list. Glad it got suggested first. I have found a Canadian distributor for it so not paying customs on it twice sounds great. I will look into this mini chamber, that is new to me.

Does it share well?

I wish it didn't look like a bong. I love the way their Life Saber looks but it is out of my price range.

Would love to hear a few more suggestions.

(does anyone have one of the vapes built into the teeny aluminum lockboxes? The idea was clever but the picture is just of a whip dangling out of a box. I couldn't see heat source, temp control, or any details.)

A log vape of sorts gets my vote.

Small amounts, decent sized hits and hides in plain sight. My Zap more than accomidates me there :D

Maybe you should consider the Arizer SOLO? :2c: It has 7 temperature settings, operates on a rechargable lithium battery, very efficient, creates decent clouds, can be used with water filtration, and about the size of a red bull can. For more details, check out the Arizer SOLO thread. Good luck in your search.

Now I can't deny the post above, I feel the Solo is one of the nicest vaporizers on the market. But the one that I would look into for the specifications you've listed would be the Natural Goods Digital Vaporizer. It costs $179.99, just a little above your comfort zone. It has a whip with a dual core design, meaning that it has an extra layer of glass preventing it from getting too hot. Temperature control is included. Now to some it may not be the most aesthetically pleasing, but I disagree completely. I haven't tried to vape small amounts so unfortunately can't help there. However when it comes to durability, this thing could stand up to daily use for years. And it is available to ship to Canada. This vaporizer is a hidden gem that I'm glad to have discovered.

A long whip requires a harder draw and has more surface for vapour to condense on instead of making it to your lungs. I know these things because we use a 2 meter whip whenever my wife and I share the Extreme, which is most evenings.

Since it will be just you and your wife, don't overlook the Magic-Flight Launch Box. It lacks a temperature control, but if you want consistent temperatures, get the power adapter. It's in your price range, is available from Canadian vendors, consumes tiny amounts, is pretty durable, and comes with a lifetime warranty that even covers user stupidity.

pakalolo,
And its incredibly stealth, silent, has virtually no heat up time, can be used while out and about, is practically indestructible and has a lifetime warranty...

The MFLB has whole hell of a lot going for it, really.

If you can get a steel-bowl solo for a good price, it's really a very nice vaporizer too.

I would love to hear more log vaporizer suggestions.

I have decided not to go with the MFLB because of the batteries and purchased a WISPR instead. Batteries at our home are more precious than water (three kids worth of digital devices). I am looking into the plug in option but did want something a little more table sized. I've been using my WISPR at the movie theater. Conan opening night we vaped the entire presentation. That guy is way too groomed to replace arnie.

The natural goods digital vaporizer looked like a nice fit. I added it to the short list. Is it sturdy? It looks function over fashion. Does it allow for a water pipe style whip?

The Solo is my dream vape at the moment, Canadian made, glass paths lots of options.... It simply isn't affordable for a stay at home father. If Arizer reads this and wants a Canadian tech writer to review or document their product contact me.

Thanks for the options!

Log vapes are great! They are ready all the time at your side! super reliable and simply to use, VERY very efficient as well.

You want either a PD(purple Days) or a RockZap[RZ] at this point, i have both but i have to say my Rockzap is hotter then any of my other logs(have two other zaps and a PD) and is very tasty and clean.

Just hang out in the Aromazap thread and ask your questions there about it! at least a few should be happy to answer if you have specific questions.

Its a great investment. very similar price to the whip type vaporizers(Im not sure I trust that natural goods box vape, look s kind of sketchy)

any whip vaporizer can be used with a water pipe by just holding the end of the whip in the downstem, or purchasing a GonG whip adaptor (pretty cheap)

Oh that reminds me^, that the stock stems that come with the Zap and PD can both fit RIGHT into a 14mm joint for a waterpipe/bong/bubbler

NYCD- Are the logs even available to Canada? I thought that both the PD and Zap, and Underdog as well, were North American sales only?

Maybe Woodeeze or Toasty Top can be shipped to Canada?

If my WISPR were reliable I would be in heaven. So I got my WISPR back(a new replacemnt) and the igniter died within a week. I have sent it to a new Canadian warranty center for it(saved 40 buck customs! Woot) and when it gets back I am resigned to using it much less frequently.

But now I am in panic mode. I need a new Vape yesterday.

I was researching these Logvapes. Wow so beautiful! I will eventually get a Purple Days since they seem to be the only one that will ship to me in Canada but I cannot wait 6 weeks.

I am wondering if a Canadian Vaporizer Connoisseur was making these things?

I had decided on the DBV and found it from a Canadian vendor for a great price (159.95+5 dollars shipping) but she pushed me at an Arizer V-tower. I will be ordering the DBV though, people seem to happy with them!

The DBV seems like a great choice. It also looks like a bong. Lol, random phallic log is easier to hide amongst my wife's bedroom "decor" than a bong. It doesn't matter though, timeliness is the issue now.

The Purple Days website was very clear, he will ship to Canada. The issue is his delivery forecast which indicates 4-6 weeks to ship. He will get my Baby Jesus money though, I love what he is selling and will order one with my next daddy bucks. I just cannot really wait on this Vape. If you are referring to the Myrtle wood one, he only sells USA according to his website.

I am going to watch on EBay for used iolites though, I really enjoy the hand held experience. I read the iolite thread with people saying they had three in a drawer and wanted to lash out... Lol I want those! Lol

Really? After the experience you had with the Wispr you are still looking into Iolites?

Lol. Well yes. The iolite my chum has is a workhorse. A second friend got a WISPR when I did and has never had a single problem. I have to hope I'm an anomaly. Besides, When I mentioned eBay iolites I was thinking 20 bucks used ones.

My decision is on a 4 day clock now. No one will send me one on Canadian thanksgiving weekend. I will keep trying to hunt out a Canadian Log style until then but am buying the DBV unless something else pops up.

To be honest this is not the type of thing I like buying in a rush. I just cannot go back to hand rolled.
