The Nomad is at the top of my wish list too (I’m on the waiting list but not in the current batch
). It’s great hearing early reports that it has performance to match the aesthetics, but it makes it even harder to wait!
I have a couple of VapCaps (18M and Omni XL) and as long as you’re okay using a little torch or an induction heater I think they’re good options to have. I’m not sure they’re exactly what you’re looking for, and some people just aren’t into them, but a lot of people (including a lot of people switching from smoking) love them.
VapCaps are pretty low maintenance, but they are conduction-heavy hybrids (a bit different from most though since they heat up and cool down fast which makes them somewhat better when used over several heat cycles), and there is a bit of air restriction, although it’s not terrible. I’m just spoiled by the very open airflow of the FlowerPot.
I understand your desire for a good portable, but I would also keep desktop options on your list, at least for the future. As much as I like my VapCaps and even my old DaVinci Ascent, if I could only have one vaporizer it would be the NewVape FlowerPot*.
It may look a little complicated, but it’s actually very easy to use, very low maintenance, can be on and ready to go all day if you want, and it’s one of the best performing vaporizers out there. It’s great with anything from crumbs to a larger amount than I need, plus concentrates (individually or at the same time), and you can set the temp low to get a bunch of small doses throughout the day or crank up the temp and fully extract a small load in one draw. You could put more in at high temps, but you’d probably just be wasting it.
Before you consider your collection complete I think you should at least check out the FP thread and maybe some other top rated desktops, but just to get started you probably won’t be disappointed with anything that’s frequently recommended around here. We’re lucky enough to have access to a lot of good options, and a great forum to help us learn about them and steer us in the right direction.
* Unless I needed a “desert island vape” which would have to be the VapCap with its heat source flexibility and compact all-in-one design.
