Following Spiderman's lead, thought I'd intro myself

I first forayed into vaporizing around 2002 with the BC vaporizer. It was like smoking, but it took longer. Well, actually it was smoking. My ABV was nothing but charcoal.

That was it for vaping for a while until I tried the Vapir 1/2/3/whatever it is. Went through a couple of those until I made the switch to whips - first Vapor Brothers (which died in 4 months) and then the V-Tower. Why the switch: well, the Vapir has this annoying time limit after which it shuts off, and if you restart you run the risk of damaging the electronics, the fan started to deteriorate, hard to clean, thermostat started to break down. The beauty of the whip is there's no moving parts or time limit. I also own an Oxygen mini which is useful if I'm going out on the town with my friends. It's basically a whip. It's all plastic, so taste is a bit off, but it does work quite well.

I've also found a sort of specialty lounge where you can vaporize your herbs with the devices provided to you by the proprietor. Thus I've also tried the Volcano (old school and digital), the HerbalAire, and the Extreme.

I'm pretty happy with my V-Tower but look to the day when I can get something with a digital thermostat that tells me exactly (within 2-3degrees) what temp my herbs are getting vaped at, without forking out 800 clams.

I'd also like to say that I'm 42 and have been using herbs since I was 15. When I quit tobacco at 27 (I'd started ciggs at 15 too) my lungs had spots. After 3 years of excercise and strictly herb smoking, the spots went away but I still had discomfort - chest pains, some phlegm. Nothing like my tobacco days. This persisted even when I switched to a one-hitter which I kept clean all the time. Since I switched to nothing but convection vaping (the only good kind of vaping imo) even these minor complications are are gone although my throat sometimes gets raw if I go too heavy with it.

I look forward to exchanging useful information.

I like this forum because nobody's getting into pissing contests over which vape is the best, unlike some other places.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for telling us so much about yourself! Sounds like you've got some valuable experiences there. I'm a noob and am on my first vaporizer but love it! The V-tower is the predecessor to my Extreme, yes?

Yes. When my Vapor Buddy broke, I found out I was SOL for getting it fixed. The heating element had burned out, and replacing it would be basically the same as buying a new one. One of my friends replaced his with a soldering iron, but I'm leery of second guessing. Anyway, the V-Tower got my money because it was made in Canada and the vendor had a good rep for support along with a warranty that I could make stick, since he lives in my country.

The arizer crew is VERY good at customer support, and the V-Tower has lasted from last summer right through the winter (I vape outside). I've left it on for hours by accident with no ill effects.

But I'm not super horny about the Extreme. A step up from the V-Tower, yes, but that discrepancy between heater temp and herb temp is a problem for me. If they can tweak that and maybe rework the bag attachment so it's easier to not lose vapor, I'll jump. I hate to say that because I really wanted to buy it at first, but I'm looking for a fuckwhit/drunkard-proof vape to take to parties. I do think arizer could position itself to be the top dog in the vapor wars, ie unseat the mighty Volcano, but there's some work to be done.

Hey there,

Sounds like you have a wealth of experience with different units, even going back to the old school conduction vapes. I take it you can confirm they aren't worth the plastic they're injection molded from. :) ABV=Already Been Vaporized?

How long have you had the V-Tower for? Is is basically an Extreme without the digital controller and fan?

You know, I've never really felt a huge need for a digital temp display... I mean it's definitely cool to have, but after using my "analog" SSV for a year I can easily pin point exactly where I want the temp using the knob. A highly accurate and fast sensor directly above the herb would be sweet, I think most digital vapes are measuring the temp of the element and optionally using some formula to estimate what it is at herb level.

Thanks for sharing your story, do you mean spots on an xray? That's interesting how they disappeared after quitting cigarettes but continuing to smoke herb. Some of us find water/ice chilled vapor hits to be a lot more gentle on a sensitive throat/lungs, have you given that a try?

No pissing contests here, I mean it's easy to grow attached to something you paid big bucks for, but better to keep an open mind... nothing is perfect. Great to have such a veteran vaporist around.

Edit: lol, 2 posts before I finished writing this one... had a little session in between. :)

Ah cool, not sure who was first with that style, there seem to be even more vapor brothers/doc/daddy clones out there now, too.

Since last summer. Without taking them both apart, I can't say for sure, but it looks that way.

Well, all the digital ones (an the HerbalAIre, which is analog but with temp settings) I've seen have a heater very close to the herb chamber, except the Extreme. There is no doubt a margin of error, but that's a function of distance. I agree you just have to find your sweet spot, but then why bother with (and pay for) digital if you have to approximate anyway? This is why the digital feature on the Extreme doesn't impress me as much as I'd hoped. They could move the sensor closer to the chamber maybe?

Thanks for sharing your story, do you mean spots on an xray? That's interesting how they disappeared after quitting cigarettes but continuing to smoke herb.
I did a physical for work, the doc listened to my chest and told me I had spots on the right lung.

After the 3 years, my family doc heard nothing.

Now, I get "clear as a bell".

THC has been shown to kill mutated pre-cancerous cells in the lung lining, as well as brain tumours.

Might have been a factor. Maybe all the cardio workout too.

With the Vapir yes, but not with the V-Tower yet.
