How many QWISO batches with same ISO?

Silly question for my first batch of QWISO:

I have about 3 mason jars worth of trimmings (that I plan to do 3 batches/washes). Can I use the same alcohol for each batch? Do I want to start with fresh alcohol each batch?

How can you tell when the alcohol is at "maximum extraction capacity"? By color?

Total noob so thanks for any advice!

Freeze all the jars overnight with the trimmings in them. Freeze 99% iso overnight. Try not to go over 5% water in the alcohol. Everclear works good too. Pour fresh alcohol (IMO don't reuse the alcohol) in each jar one at a time and shake vigorously for about 20 or 30 seconds, any longer and you'll likely end up with some nasty green goop since you're using trim. Filter the alcohol through a strainer or reusable (golden) filter into another jar. You MUST get the alcohol out of the jar fast or else it will mess up your oil. Repeat for the other jars of trim. Then refilter the alcohol through a normal unbleached coffee filter into a dish to purge in. Double boil around 150F give or take. Scrape and enjoy.

When the alcohol is at "maximum capacity" it'll be green, viscus, and nasty. Alcohol extracts too much unwanted things from the plant for long washes, mainly chlorophyll. You'll be extremely disappointed with your end product if you wash for too long. Cold, fast washes are key to good qwiso.

Awesome videos! Thanks. That guy definitely seems like a character.

Awesome advice! I can't find 99% ANYWHERE. Will 91% be adequate?

IMO 91% iso with good buds makes bad qwiso, so I'd never use it with trim. Order it online or get some ever clear. It'll be worth the wait.

I know there is some debate over everclear vs iso. Tastes good and clean? Longer wash with everclear?

Thanks again. Trim is almost dry enough to wash!

91% works fine if you freeze it cold enough and minimize exposure time. If you can get the alc and the herb below 0 degrees f and expose for under thirty seconds then there is not really a noticeable difference IME. Better yet, for trim, get a metal strainer fill it with the herb and pour the alcohol over it into something. This will minimize exposure time to the bulk of plant material to a few seconds and break off all the trichome heads into the alcohol, then just strain again with a coffee filter. The finer the strainer the better this work.

As for alcohol being at 'maximum capacity', don't worry about it. Alcohols have crazy high saturation rates, it will become too thick to seep through the bud before it can stop absorbing more. That being said, it is best to use fresh alc each time, because there will be a loss of alcohol in the plant material that doesn't strain out.

everclear is non-toxic... if you wanted to eat it and it wasn't fully purged it's ok.. that's the way to go if you can.. i have never tried it before because i would have to order it and i would rather go to the store and grab some 91% ISO and freeze it.. but if i had the option i would use everclear all day for these things over ISO.. also ISO is so cheap and i always already have it for cleaning glass..

Holy crap, it is a good tip to do a practice run, just to prep yourself. Saw tons of videos and tips. I have a great setup and still freaked! HA! My holder for screen/filter didn't work on 2nd dish and caused me to freak for a minute other than that it was a good 1st ever run! Got em evap'n now.

Hahah been there, done that. More than once I've found my high ass running around in circles saying "what the fuck do I do now!?!" when I make a mistake during my runs.

Now go make some BHO!
I actually prefer QWISO to BHO, the high is better for me. QWISO just seems a little more well rounded and enjoyable. With that being said, qwiso yields significantly less from my experience. Even my best qwiso yields can't compare to my BHO yields. And I've made qwiso a LOT more than BHO. Not to mention BHO is pretty much fool-proof when compared to qwiso.

As far as qwiso being dangerous, I'm sure that you could eat a whole batch of slightly underpurged qwiso in one bite and not have any ill effects. It takes a lot of isopropyl alcohol in your system to become dangerous, I'm not saying to go do this but it isn't as dangerous as people make it out to be. Acquiring high proof grain alcohol can be a difficult task for some. High proof, unflavored alcohol (ie everclear) isn't sold in my state, luckily I can drive 15 minutes into the next state and buy some.

Hell ya same here! I am going to do everclear next, still waiting on bho, extra expenses and all... What are the biggest differences in the two alcohols in regards to quantity both of yield and amount used in extraction as well as taste and other possible factors?
