how long do oil based tinctures last compared to alcohol based tinctures? I made a tincture using the master wu green dragon method and it came out really good, very potent but that burn WOW! I made this tincture because it enters body faster and has long shelf life.

Oki doki, didnt mean to clutter forum, I just did not want to post right after my own posts in the same thread, after awhile you cannot edit to add question to a post. Some times I'm stuck waiting for thread movement.

I'll try to use google more to avoid cluttering the forum.

It's all good friend I'm just saying whoever is knowledgeable about tinctures can probably answer all of your questions.

I would expect at least a year with coconut oil infusions, I usually store in the refrigerator.

A super easy edible recipe is to use an eye dropper to put a drop or three of tincture on store bought gummy bears (I like the sour ones)

Just a technicality, but tincture and extraction are not interchangeable words. A tincture is an ethanol extraction. Extraction with glycerine is a glycerite, with vinegar an infusion or tonic. Extractions into oil are just infusions or edibles I guess.

I tried Master Wu's method once and that was enough. Master Wu's GD tastes like crap!

If the MBM takes 2 cups of ethanol how much cannabis did you add and how much GD do you need to consume for a dose?

I reduce my tincture to a concentration of 6 grams per ounce (1 gram per 5ml & 10 grams=50ml) and my Dragon Oil (a bio-available RSO) to 1 gram per ml.

An ethanol tincture will continue to decarb and concentrate over time if left at room temperature. I keep ethanol tinctures in the freezer where they will stay indefinitely without spoiling.

FYI, if someone was to make a Green Dragon tincture without heat and no heated decarb the tincture would naturally decarb over a period of 4 months left in a dark cabinet at room temperature. Making a tincture without any heat preserves more of the terpenes.

it was my first time doing this so i didn't want to waste a bunch of material if it came out bad. I put a little more than 1/4 ounce of avb with with 2 1/2 cups of everclear, ran it 160 degrees, for 8 hours in the magical butter maker machine and I can do a half dropper to a full dropper and I am pretty good.

I read some techniques on how to reduce to make rso but how do you use that? looks a little like an e-liquid do comsume it or vape it?

Do you use concentrates? I just wash out my concentrate jars with alcohol to make a simple tincture. It's stronger and tastes better than my tinctures using bud.

How much everclear were you left with after 8 hours at 160??

@CastIronHits the key to a decent tasting tincture made from buds is to use the "freezer method " and UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE YOU TO HEAT EVERCLEAR WITH WEED.

I started with a little less than 3 cups of everclear and I was able to fill 13 1/2 1 0z dropper bottles.

Why did you say no heat with everclear? I did my tincture with the magical butter maker and it came out great, good potency, taste fine, not bad, I made sure to use coffee filters to take the bad tasting chlorophyll out, nice and clean. The only complaint I have is the everclear burn that was unexpected but i am getting used to it.

We don't care for alcohol tinctures, but instead make tinctures ( I call it a tincture, you call it what you want, lol) using concentrates and organic hemp oil.(amazon) We store in eye dropper bottles. IDK the shelf life but I have one that's over a year old and still is good to use. The hemp oil stays liquid so it's easy to get an eye dropper of it. One eye dropper = one dose.

2 grams rosin (or another concentrate), 1/2 tsp of sunflower lecithin, one fluid ounce of organic hemp oil. Heat the oil with gentle heat, add the powdered lecithin and stir until clear, then add the rosin and stir again until clear. Then just fill the eye dropper bottle. You can adjust the amounts and it's good to remember some concentrates are stronger than others.

It can be used on food or just under the tongue. Under the tongue or in a hot drink helps to make it act quicker.

Ive just went through a rough patch with my asthma and used these and canna caps exclusively for over 3 weeks. Even now I still use tinctures to lessen my vaping and give my lungs a rest.

My next tincture will be with either hemp oil or grapeseed oil. I just took a dropper of my everclear tincture in a tea with honey, so good that way no burn nice flavors.

No decarbing the rosin?

I've tried it both ways but found no difference. The rosin was pressed at 190-210°F and heated to mix at 200°F. That doesn't seem like enough to decarb, but like I said, I didn't notice any difference from heating it to 275°F.

So anymore I don't worry about decarbing it.

Not sure why this was directed at me as I never mentioned my bud tincture technique. I said cleaning a concentrate jar is easy and the resulting tincture tastes better than bud IMO.

You are the one calling it what you want.

Rosin is not decarbed so I wouldn't skip that step. It has less moisture than bud so the temps and times would be lower.

The reason I directed the comment to you was that I (mis)understood that you didn't like the taste of tinctures made from Bud.

Sorry if this caused any confusion.
