it will result in a smaller "storage area" at least in the largest model it does. but you will retain all the goodies right there and I actually think if your storing in them it preserved the flavor a little longer without it sitting on a screen being dried from top and bottom.

just stash the kief screen section away for some rainy day activities.

it just all stays together

Not always. When your bud isn't really sticky, but it is very dry, the kief will separate and you'll lose some on every surface it contacts. That's when a screen comes in handy. Most 4 piece grinders allow you to use it as a 2 or 3 piece, so IMO a 4 piece is always a good option.
