Hi all,
Firstly thank you all for this community. It's been a tremendous help and an encyclopedia of knowledge.
I have followed & read the threads on different vapes but think i'm at a point where I have way too much info for my own good. Hoping I can get pointed in the correct direction r.e. a Desktop Vaporizer for flowers.

I've been a long time smoker (20+yrs) and love my fat marley sized joints - way too much for my own good. Tried bongs on & off over the years - love the taste, hate the coughing. I love my joints, really love em' but I am now at a point in life where i have quit smoking tobacco and am really determined to fuck combustion altogether which means stopping my beloved joints...

Would be really interested to hear from other spliff smokers that turned to vaping : what worked for you? (Delivery method and the vape) and given your experience what would you recommend? (I would be willing to pony up for right vape)

Thanks!

The one that made me switch was the Da Buddha Vaporizer, from 7th floor. I previously bought a Vapor genie which although works great now that i know how to work with it, it didn't impress me the first time i tried it.

The fact that i only tried it twice and that i didn't know anyone who vaped also had its weight since i had nothing else than FC to rely on.

I think a heavy hitter vaporizer like the DaBuddha is essential for a more reliable and sustained transition from smoking to vaping.

I suggest the Silver Surfer, also from 7th floor... it's essentially the same kind of unit with minor changes than enhance it's extraction and flavour. There is also the Life Saber which is better and tastier than these two, but it's more popular when used with water pieces.

You could also get an Arizer Solo which is a bigger portable, and very pratical to use at home and taken out with it, although it's not a stealthy vaporizer.

These vaporizer are priced ~200USD, from 160 to 250.

In the higher end, i recomend the miniVAP and the sublimator at the moment.

In the lower end, you could get a Vapolution 2.0 for roughly 100USD.

Another vaporizer to consider is a log vape, like the Underdog and the HI, and also the Epic Vape... i personally use my HI daily, but you might find the bowl is smaller than most vaporizers and these are better units to save on material, as are the Solo and the Vapolution.

I was like you for decades. For that last 3 years I have been strictly vaping and must confess that I wish this technology had been more widely available years ago. Biggest thing I've found is I use MUCH, MUCH less product and enjoy it MUCH, MUCH more! It's one thing to open a dank bag and enjoy the fragrant wonders, but entirely another to put it into a vape and enjoy that same flavor. You have come to this at such a great time as there is an explosion of products that will bring you such enjoyment that you'll think you've discovered cannabis for the first time.

The other thing that you should keep in mind is that you'll now get to experience edibles!!! Once your done vaping your flowers you can cook with them and enjoy them all over again! But I digress!

My strong recommendation is to find a vaporizer that is produced by a company with some track record. While there seems to be a new vape coming out every day, the "oldies" are still around for a reason. Companies like Volcano, Arizer and Iolite are still around for a reason. They work well, and they support their products. I can't tell you what you should purchase (that depends on your needs) but I will tell you that I purchased an Extreme Q by Arizer and an Iolite Classic and have been VERY happy with both.

There are certainly a great many other fine products and companies out there and you're in the right place to find out anything you might want to know about both. The one thing I can tell you with ABSOLUTE certainty is that you will LOVE vaping herb! That said, give it a chance, it takes a little getting used too. If possible, find a friend who is already into it to give you some tips. It IS different, and will take a little getting used to, but I'd say the adjustment period is about 30 days (at most) and after that you will wonder why you ever smoked the stuff to begin with!

As the URL says.... FUCK COMBUSTION!

It sounds like you'll need a heavy hitter desktop unit to enjoy the transition. I was the same way.

The first vape I tried was the Volcano and it was a blast when I used it, both because of effects and the novelty of blowing up a bag of vape. However, I REALLY got into vaping when I got my SSV. That thing rips so hard and so well, it felt very close to smoking.

I agree - I wish vaporizing was an option years ago. Now when I get on the end of a joint its feels hot and harsh...can't do it anymore.

After using a few different vapes, I realized a lot are terrible. So many have plastic parts between the heater and your mouth. The plastic heats up and dispenses toxins. Make sure to get a unit made primarily from steel/glass etc. Arizer makes solid stuff. Heavy and not the sexiest, but reliable, smooth and engineered properly.

If you are on a budget than I would recommend the Arizer Solo. This vape is an absolutely beast and I love mine. If you purchase the power adapter you can use it for desktop use at home too!. If you use high temperatures it is quite a heavy hitting vape, so the vapor hits might give some resemblance to smoke, aesthetically that is, smoke tastes like shit compared to sweet vapor. It's got so many positive reviews for a reason.

The First Vaporizer that made me really believe in vapor over smoke was the Vapor Genie Classic . I guess at the time I bought it I was lucky not to have the internet of FC so didn't know anything about this learning curve people talk about , I got it home from the Head shop and 3 Bowls later I was coughing on huge clouds of Vapor over the next few months I tapered down to mainly vaping bought a MFLB with that and the VG I Fucked Combustion got the internet found FUCKCOMBUSTION got infected with VAS and now have two vapes for each day of the week that's my Experience switching from smoking to Vaping .

I like a bunch of Vapes and often would tell you to buy the one I like most right now as I'm posting but you wouldn't really get the best info . Think about what you need in a vape , search for a week or so through the plug in and portable threads and find what will work for you now . You will want another if you stick around FC very much .

sorry for running on I'm very medicated after using the Long Tvape.......... Not a desktop vape .

welcome, we've all been where you are at one time, so don't be shy about asking questions. Based on what I know now compared to when I began using vaporizers, I'd suggest you start with a good but not exotic desktop vaporizer to evaluate whether vaporizing is your thing or not. Many options are available around or under $150. Three that immediately come to mind are the Vapolution 2.0, the Da Buddha and the Herbal Aire. the HA and DBV are whip vaporizers (the HA also fills bags). The vapolution has a glass pathway. Any of these 3 will reliably deliver solid hits and good flavor, and conserve your herb more than smoking. They each have FC threads to peruse if you're interested.

I usually recommend the solo or Da Buddha for first timers. Not much technique to either and both can provide ass kicking hits, both are easily adapted to water, and both are relatively inexpensive.

And like you said, they're built well.

Then start saving money for your VAS and keep in mind the Herbalizer is coming! :uhoh:

Thanks everyone for the responses and the advice.

A buddy gifted me his arizer solo and after using it to get medicated all weekend, can say that it was awesome. Loved the taste of the vapor it produced and the fact that I could be a couch potato and use it.

My biggest gripe with the solo was the volume of vapor and that I had to fill it a few times to reach my preferred level of medication - akin to drinking beer out of a shot glass.

Came to the conclusion that for my purposes, it is the ideal piece of equipment to maintain a medicated state but felt that it left me wanting more while trying to get to that medicated state...

On to my search for a heavy hitting desktop vape:
The SSV has been highly recommended and seems like it would be perfect however also got rave reviews on vapobonging with the Sublimator. Watched demo videos and gotta say it really piqued my interest. It looks like it could be the one-hit wonder that i'm craving.... Load her up and boom ur done!

Would be interested to hear from anyone that has used the sublimator and how the taste & effects compare to the SSV. Is the Sublimator more efficient and does it produce better quality vapor? Is the vapor smoother on the throat than the SSV?

Again, thank you all for the responses... greatly appreciated.

If you need big thick milky clouds, come read up on the Cloud Evo thread. Water tool/glass + big heat on low temp = big huge milk clouds
