Help my confusion

I'm looking to get a TED dry herb vaporizer. I see all the names, Dynavap, tornado, simrell, tempest... Then I see all these posts where people say they have a XX brand stem, XX brand mouthpiece... Is this just the best of different makers and they don't like all in one unit sold? Since I'm going to purchase one of these, I read all the reviews and see the waiting lists. As a new buyer is it best to just purchase a full unit and then once learn it to buy pieces?

So all those other stems and mouthpieces are kind of like after market parts for a car. Pieces created by other manufacturers to add to the vapes like dynavap, tornado, simrell (although they also make a lot of accessories for other vapes).

I personally would recommend purchasing a standard vape, whatever it might be. Get to know your selection. Then the plethora of accessories will make more sense. And you'll have a better idea of what you might want to add to/change about your vape, and thus what accessories to buy.

Hope this makes sense

It does thanks. I'm leaning towards the simrell or tempest 2 when either of then come out. I know there are others out there. I think I'm leaning towards trying to buy the newest technology unless thee is something else to look at

Nothing wrong with that approach. There are also good vapes already out there, so there's really no wrong options. If you want one of the upcoming ones, by all means go for it!

Sometimes newest technology is not going to make that much of a difference especially if you haven't tried any though? I had the original DV and never cared for that extraction style, eventually settled on thermal accumulator for my next gen convection version, ball vape evolution of these... It is really simple and effective, versatile too, I just use it with a simple glass WPA with various hooks and other dry glass attachments to puff on (its like tempest)

thank you. I'll look into the thermal accumulator. this being new to me so I'm sure there is still a ton to learn

I see so many out there that is what is confusing. My thought about newest tech. is similar to me getting a switch 2 because liking the quart and sapphire cup, ability to ascent, descent or steady. As someone new to dabbing also, I read about having to buy new atomizer... and was not looking to keep re-investing. If newest tech isn't ground breaking then any suggestions for a solid device that will work with an induction heater (not sure I want to use torch), I don't care about cost. thanks

Well, I am and always will be a fan of dynavaps. That said, as you've seen not everyone likes them. That said they're a good starting point that definitely works with and induction heater.

@coolbreeze what would you suggest. You're more versed in the induction heater and corresponding Ted vape scene than I am. (I enjoy the torch)

Folk here are collectors and like to mix and match bits. I think you have the right idea. Get a full kit from whoever and pay attention to what you like. Then branch out if you enjoy tinkering.

If you want a low risk entry point, the Vaphit QOQ is cheap and great. You can use it on it's own or put some glass under it. And the helix stem it comes with is pretty great on the POTV Lobo, so you'll have a transferable mix-match piece straight away.

So the tempest is actually a partnership with thermal accumulator, it uses the same design, but MAD tweaked things and has their stem etc. TA is available from like vgoodiez for example in a few different configurations, I have the original version and the new TA-3... So these are designed for strong convection with some hybrid element, but heat retention so you can puff on it as a big feature, although equally capable to do one hitters, smaller hits, with big or small bowls, I think it is one of the more versatile? Although I have not tried newer DV stuff or Dani or Anvil or Convector or any of those others myself so just from what I know about my preferences is why I made that choice, not wanting to compare in person and end up collecting too many honestly (TA also works with induction heaters, although I haven't tried any yet, I do have the plug-in inductor so really need to)

Yeah I think if you actually like the switch experience for dabbing and just want an herbal vape, you might like something like tafee bowle most of all for simple herbal use honestly...? Obviously there are a lot of great options, but you might appreciate the high-tech simplicity, effective with less effort

Thanks. I have the Solo 3. I want to get the TED to use all of these through a TTB or use individually. The more I read up on TED's the more intrigued I am. I know combusting I don't intend to do anymore so dialing in what will be my preferred method.
