Help in Picking a new Vape

Ok folks, I need some help from you more experienced folks in picking a new vape. I currently mainly smoke joints, and also have a Dynavap 2019 "M" that I don't use with water. It's nice, but seems to really irritate my throat. I'm heating it using a Portside mini. It also is a bit of pain to reload if I need to medicate "heavily".

I mainly use at home, so I don't care if it's a portable or plugged in vape. I smoked joints and cigs for years so my lungs aren't great - so something with an easy draw would be preferable. I'm really looking for on-demand or nearly so, decent hit size, VAPE QUALITY and flavor.

I'm having a hard time deciding between something like a sticky brick runt, a log vape, a DaBuddah, or a Arizer Extreme Q, so those are all within my price range. I'd like to stay below $200, and just really don't want to have to use water. Ideas and Suggestions?

All of those are great choices besides the Extreme Q IMO. You will be very happy with a log, budah or Sticky brick of any kind. Sticky bricks can take some time to get used to like your dynavap. Budah and log should be really easy to get the hang of. E nano is a great microdosdoser where as the budah has a bit bigger bowl.

There's many excellent vaporizers but my all time favorite is the silver surfer. It's a heavy hitter yet easy on the throat. The DaBuddha is a fine vaporizer but my preference is non hands free (for control and ease of stirring). The customer service is excellent for repairs, it's a simple device - nothing digital, no hamburger helper, just the highest quality components in an ingenious design. I'd look at the spherical model rather than the ground glass. There's plenty of used silver surfers out there that can be bought at a fraction of the price (I bought mine for 75) - so that's my recommendation.

I always recommend to use a vaporizer that most closely matches your preferred method of combustion. IMO the Dynavap is more analogous to a one hitter than a doob. If you're a joint guy, I would suggest any vape with a stem to feel more like cheeching on a roller. Solo 2, Splinter, log vape, etc. IMO the Solo 2 and other Arizer portables are particularly "joint like" in the session experience it provides.

When I say regulated, I mean to say you set a dial and it achieve a certain set temperature and stays there. Unfortunately with the DaBuddha we are relegated to saying I set mine to the 12 o’clock position as opposed to saying I really enjoy 385 F. There is very little technique required, unlike the DynaVap or StickyBrick vapes which are unregulated, although an induction heater helps a ton with the DynaVaps!

What does non hands free mean?

DaBuddha is hands free meaning the bowl (wand) attaches to the heater cover and you don't have to hold onto it while taking a hit. Non hands free means you hold onto it. It sounds like hands free would be better and in a sense it is except you're more limited in terms of moving the bowl around during hits and with "non hands free" stirring between hits is more second nature. OTOH with hands free you don't have to worry about where to place the wand/hose between hits. This is just my preference. Both are great options.

I’m going to suggest that if you buy a DaBuddha, definitely get a water pipe adapter as that would be a big help for you and eliminating harshness of the vapor. Troy of 420VapeZone recently did a video of the SSV, a peer from 7th Floor, same people that make the DaBuddha. These two vapes are nearly identical. The SSV is hands on, whereas the DaBuddha has a ground glass joint the wand fits into and should be hands free. However if you pull on the whip just right the DaBuddha wand can slip out of the joint. He’s suggesting a modification based upon how the Glass Symphony vape was made (Which the G43 vape was derived from).

As you already own glass pieces, the other vape I would suggest you look at is the NewVape WeedEater. This is an e-nail based dry herb vape that heats up in a few minutes and maybe left on. To purchase the minimum equipment you would need the NewVape PID, Coil, WeedEater, Adjustabowl and screen. A stand is nice to have, but not required as you may use a bolt in apiece of wood to rest the hot WeedEater on when you are not taking a draw.

I was once in your shoes that was in 2010. I was looking to purchase a Volcano as I had used one. Was on a couples trip to British Columbia and when the guys were out playing my misses went to a couple of head shops and did some leg work for me. Long story short she introduced me to a guy who knew what was out at the time and I bought a DaBuddha. I have since bought a second which I leave in Jamaica, but to get decent vapor you have to draw a lot of air through it at high temps and it leaves the back of my throat raw unless used through water. Its since been sitting as I've acquired about 30 vapes and that one just is not it for me anymore. If I can locate quartz glass beads that may change.

This site is truly a great family of vapers that will offer all kinds of knowledge, so any more questions or concerns fire away.

Personally I’d go eith a log out of what you mentioned, but there are a lot of good options out there.

One other thing to consider is adjusting how you use your VapCap. “Mouth pulling” (sucking it like a straw briefly and then inhaling what you pulled into your mouth), or running it through water. There are good adapters, bodies, etc. you can get to use it with glass more easily.

Yes, I've experienced the same with the Da Buddha... as well as with the ground glass version of the Silver Surfer. That's one of the reasons why I prefer the spherical version.

I have both and you really cant go wrong with either ime.
The brick will take some getting used to, the log is easy as it gets.
Personally I would favor the log vape, but it sort of depends on the user. The log is great to just turn on in the morning and leave it on all day. I have mine on my desk at home. Its always ready whenever I want to take a hit.

I have the hydrobrick maxx and I used to break that out for big face melting hits. Completely different experience than a log vape. The brick creates tasty vapor for sure. The log will too, especially with a glass stem.

Hope this helps you somewhat. If this makes no sense its because I just tried a new bag and its much stronger than I anticipated. Im probably at a 9.5 right now.

You said the M irritates your throat so maybe a log is a good choice. In my case my log vape is easier to use then my brick but my flip brick hits harder.

I sold my Enano (an affordable log) but still love my og Sticky Brick. The log experience was kinda wrong for me because that 0 to 10 dial is only useful in a narrow range. Waiting for it to heat up didn't suit me either.

For a desktop the pro setup is the weed eater Yamon recommends for folks with needs like yours. I don't vape at a desk or table and I'm not a heavy user so it's overkill for me.

The og Brick has a terrific ritual like a bong one hitter and the flavor is excellent. It's also capable of consistent, easy, and rapid extraction with the restrictor disk installed. You can fully extract .3g in two or three big hits and the large mouthpiece on the og keeps them super smooth. I don't find a dry bong necessary but I'm also not a regular water user at all.

Logs are great at rapid extraction too. I tired of the clogging glass honeycomb screens but the adjustable ones don't have the cooling beads I liked in the Ice stem.

I have heard the screens clog on the Bricks. I reserve mine for special occasions because it's a weed hog compared to my Splinter Zs so I don't know what it's like to put a few grams a day through it. I don't feel like my brick is even remotely high maintenance. I'd use it more but I don't like how I've always vaped twice as much just by how quick and effective it is.
