I would highly recommend the vivape2 for a desktop vaporizer. with an all glass heating element and the same functions of herblaire and extreme Q and Also have great customer service. You can get one from vapeworld for 289$ plus free shipping which leaves u more than enough money to get a great glass piece to pair it with Or even a portable (solo, wispr i would recommend)

Volcano is great, but limited functionality, double the price and it has an aluminum heating element which could potentially be bas for ur health (not completely proven)

You can get a cloud if you wanna blow all your money but recently ive been seeing alot of people having issues and then getting their repaired units back with flaws such as scratches and dings. Not the kind of servicd i would expect from a 5-600 vaporzer.

The volcano has been on the market since 2000 and has been used in medical trials and in innumerable dispensaries and by many medical patients. I think we would know by now if that solid aluminum core is a health hazard.

The carb is a very small hole that you use to increase or decrease airflow. Since it is located in an area that gets very hot to the touch, and because airflow with the HydroTube really isn't an issue for me, I plug it up so it's like a noncarbed GonG. You can also teflon tape the hole ala OF. Haven't you ever used an old bong with a carb hole? Same thing.

Yes I realize that, but there have been some studies that have linked aluminum with alzheimers disease. Nothing has been proven, but it is something to think about, especially when there are so many better options(not using aluminum) that are the same price or cheaper. Think about how many new vaporizers have been coming out, How many use an aluminum heating element? I had a volcano for a year or so, and dont get me wrong it is a great vape, but for me I didnt want to take the risk even if nothing is actually proven. A quick quote from wikipedia, i didnt feel like actually searching for information...

"According to the Alzheimer's Society, the medical and scientific opinion is that studies have not convincingly demonstrated a causal relationship between aluminium and Alzheimer's disease.[80] Nevertheless, some studies, such as those on the PAQUID cohort,[81] cite aluminium exposure as a risk factor for Alzheimer's disease. Some brain plaques have been found to contain increased levels of the metal.[82] Research in this area has been inconclusive; aluminium accumulation may be a consequence of the disease rather than a causal agent. In any event, if there is any toxicity of aluminium, it must be via a very specific mechanism, since total human exposure to the element in the form of naturally occurring clay in soil and dust is enormously large over a lifetime.[83][84] Scientific consensus does not yet exist about whether aluminium exposure could directly increase the risk of Alzheimer's disease.[80]"

Also, just because it was used in medical trials and is used in many dispensaries by medical patients, does not mean that it couldnt have potential health hazards. Most of the vaporizer studies that your probably referring to were conducted back when the volcano was actually the best vaporizer on the market. In recent years many better designed (IMO) vaporizers have been released. And just because it have been used in studies and used by medical patients in dispensaries doesnt actually mean that its safe. Think of how many products in all different fields and drugs are recalled every year. Some or most of what is recalled has been on the market for years and been used in various studies, but that doesnt mean they are safe. Sorry for ranting, all Im ssaying is that for me, why take

perfect explanation there, yes I have, so theres a little carb actually on the gong itself? thats kinda whack, i mean i get it, but that is for small hydrotube with small chambers that need to be refilled numerous time within each rip i guess.... that sux!! i can order a solo at a great price, but hardly any attachments!! lol greaaaat
thanks for the clarification

Yes, it's a little hole drilled into the side of the GonG.

Edit: look at the first picture on planetvape when you click on 14mm carbed and you'll see the little hole on the side.

kelper,
if you dont want to blow $550+ on a vape, but still want one capable of filling bags, look into the Extreme Q, the Herbalaire, or the vivape 2 as a home option. if bags arent a concern for you, I would look at any 7th floor product. For portable, i would steer away from Pax because of its inability to be used with water pipes (thats one of the main reasons my friend got rid of his). Instead, i would look at either the inhalater, which works amazing with water pieces, or the solo, which has a gong adapter making for easy use with water pipes. if you want mere clouds, the inhalater produces the thickest clouds of any portable I've seen, but if you want taste, go with the solo, which still can get impressive hits. with the solo, there is the issue of size, making it somewhat less portable, with the inhalater, you get the reliability issue, as many units have had to get recalled, however, it seems as though these issues have been resolved. You also have $250 for inhalater and $160 for solo + price of gong adapter ($15-$20?).

I have heard from many people that using a vapor bag through a water piece does not work very well...

yea... i was thinking about the connection.... seems too good to be true.!lol..
How did you like the PAX when you tired it buddy ? (saw on the bottom where it says currently own and vapes I've tried, that cool)

Greenmile1332,
well, my friend had the pax for about 3 or 4 months, and when i used it, i really liked it, but what I didn't like was how hot the mouthpiece got, and how much draw resistance there was. also, what i heard from him is he didn't like that there was no ability to attach it to glass pieces, that it would run through herbs too quickly, and that the mouthpiece would get caked up with wand hash, making it difficult to turn on; so you would have to take care to make sure that it wouldn't get too stuck. With that said however, it definitely is a nice unit, and you can get good vapor out of it, i just wouldn't get it because it doesn't suit my needs.

Actually the volcano is used in scientific studies because of its accuracy. Which other vaporizer is accurate within 1 degree centigrade? There has been no proof that there is any causality between aluminum and Alzheimers. None. People use aluminum for cooking all the time. Theres lots of stuff that can harm you in this world, but I would place the volcano well down the list until proven otherwise. Do you have any proof at all that this vaporizer has harmed anyone ever?

I am there with ya, I think I have gotten over the culture shock of the whole thing and how appealing it is and actually try to match it with my needs. I just like the damn discreetness of it too though, very pretty. But I would only need to really be stealthy on the golf course or maybe driving.
AND the water piece thing is really crucial.... I know there are ways but i like things to be "proper" so to speak. I am really tempted tho to just get a Pax and convert to a cheap water unit while I wait on another unit..... but the Solo has very good reviews on efficiency, taste, functionality... and it has some cool water attachments.... (except there mostly out of stock right now) So if I wanted a solo right now I stilll couldn't order the pieces i'd want with it....

Your taking what im saying completely out of context. Im never once said the volcano is a bad vaporizer, not accurate or It has harmed anyone. All im saying is that there have been studies conducted that do link Aluminum to an increased risk of Alzheimers. It was brought up in a couple classes I took in college, and when it was brought up they said it hasnt been scientifically proven or universally excepted. But for me, theres so many other options out there that are just as good or better and do not use aluminum. And i would rather be safe then sorry. And it is also something to think about for someone deciding to purchase a new vaporizer

Also, pretty sure most studies that were done using the volcano used the Volcano Classic which has a temperature accuracy within 5 degrees celcius and a lot of vaporizers now aday are compareable.

All due respect to your college classes and the unproved link between aluminum and Azheimers, but as far as the Mayo Clinic knows, these are the factors that have been shown to be predictive of the disease.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/alzheimers-disease/DS00161/DSECTION=risk-factors

Implying that this or any device is a potential health hazard based on zero evidence (not counting what you heard in a couple of college classes) does a disservice to a good company and misinforms people who don't know any better.
It's irresponsible.

It's OK to enjoy your medicine.
Sigh. A lil info is a dangerous thing? The Volcano's aluminum heat spreader block doesn't even come close to the temperature where aluminum sheds toxic metal ions. The actual heater is encased in the aluminum and the thermoblock never reaches any unhealthy temperature.

All this is on their site as well as GOOGLE. Another post will not change facts. "I think" "i read something somewhere" "I guess" are not facts... Links below to facts for those too lazy to search:

http://www.storz-bickel.com/vaporizer/vaporizing-frequently-asked-questions.html#gruppe-02-06

And the study itself: http://www.storz-bickel.com/pdf/Heat Exchanger Alu Study.pdf

Knowledge is a choice. So are using facts that fit the item being examined.

So i was putting together a package on Planetvape, of the solo and some attachments...... then i got to thinking.... again.....

I kind of don't want to "waste" money on all the glass connecters and pieces when I read that the BATTERY in the solo only last about a year or so before replacement...... and then replacement can range over $100???

Do y'all think the battery is a reason to stay away from the solo? To where it might be good for the start.... but fades quickly? any thoughts?

Oh and the milkshake reference and hard draw resistance....is that THAT big a deal... like literally what kind of milkshake? lol a kinda runny on or one that won't go up the straw period! lol..... or maybe people have never really hit vapes before it.... but milkshakey? like headache inducing?!?!l lol

i like that discreet mouthpiece from planetvape (but its sold out, of course)

And is the "new model" from planetvape the one to get...

Use some common sense, if for most users the stem was too restrictive and the battery died fast would we all be recommending it to you? Would there be a 500+ thread on it?
Are you at an appropriate age to be vaping?
