Handheld Vaporizer or Ti Nail for a concentrate newb?

Hello all,

I am wanting to explore concentrates, but not sure if I should go with a handheld vaporizer or use my $40 infamous bubbler with a Ti nail. I mostly smoke outdoors as my wife is sensitive to the smell of herb.

I've looked into the Persei for the vape, but the Cera looks like a possible alternative, as the throw away Persei carts might turn out to be a pain for me.

I already have the $40 infamous bubbler that I use with my solo for herb and it is great. I saw a few posts here and there about using the bubbler with a Ti nail. I don't currently own a butane torch.

Does anyone have any good recommendations on which route I should go? My dispensary has BHO wax, bubble hash (not sure what that is), RSO oil, and some canna oils.

I say find a nicely priced quartz or ti nail and use it on your bubbler. You'll see how you like concentrates. Don't dive into them with a persei just yet. I used just my nail for a long time before getting into pen vapes. Just my two cents tho!

^^ What he said. See if you like the buzz first. Check Ioffer, go to the glass section and look for oregonglassblower we have a thread on here for him. Offers quality glass ti or quartz nail and dome with male/male adapters for about $50. Its pretty difficult to get a good concentrate vape these days, without spending an arm and a leg.

Supposedly the quartz has a different taste than the ti, but I would go with ti just for the fact that it will never break no matter how many times you heat it up or if you happen to drop it/ cool it down too quickly.

Edit: you can pick up some REALLY sweet ti nail setups on Ioffer as well, honeycombs, matrix, etc, many in the 100-200 range and some even come with the nail, give one of us a shout though to check it out just so youre sure to get something boro/ not mass manufactured

Think it's high enough quality on the nail, that I don't have to worry about off gassing some chemicals or aluminium?

Its quality, the guy has a very good rep around here, and that is a steal, especially to come with two dabbers.

Another website that has some pretty damn cool glass pieces at reasonable prices that I can reccomend if you end up looking for a new piece. Theglasstronaught.com , collection of scientific glass from several different blowers.

Good advice on starting out small, since I've never even done concentrates. I guess I just assumed I'd enjoy it

Good luck man, let us know how you like it, maybe even a video? I'd ask around and see what a good torch is. You want something that will heat the nail quickly and not waste a shit load of butane. Aqualabtechnologies carrys some of the higher quality torches, but are quite expensive. You're probably best off looking at those and trying to pick up one off ebay/amazon to get the best price, be sure to grab some butane while youre at it

Bed bath and beyond has a creme brûlée torch pretty cheap and is almost identical to the expensive vector torches.

His glass sets are fine but... The nail is a Chinese Grade 5 orthopedic bone screw cut down to make a nail. Very common and not safe for use when heated. I'd suggest a quartz nail if you want to save money. Or go with a well known nail manufacturer that guarantees Grade 2 Ti. Don't trust the stamp on it, they are faked. A quality, US made Ti nail runs from $50-70usd and more for special ones.. Ioffer and auction sites carry unsafe nails.

Thanks for the feedback. good to know. I picked up his set. I figure I'd try the dabbing once from it, and if I like it go with a HE ti nail. Just dunno if I should go with a dualiti or a standard screw in one. ALT seems to have the best selection.

This is the truth, the bb&b torch is the way to go, works exactly like a vector for 50 bucks less. Plus super easy to exchange if (when) it breaks.

I'd return it if I was you. You paid 10 dollars extra for a torch with a much smaller flame that is much more inconvenient to deal with when it breaks. Any make or model of torch you look at will fail given time. IMHO, much better to be able to waltz into a store and and exchange it.

First of all, DONT try to smoke RSO. It's great medicine for eating, cooking etc. But it has so much chlorophyl in it and it's really really harsh to smoke. Just let RSO be RSO and ingest it orally.


As for all the others. I suggest you start with a TI Nail or glass nail and see if you like it or can handle it. It's harsher on the lungs than flowers. But, if you don't do it all the time, it's no big deal and the health concerns are minor (unless you get some really bad wax or oil). But, if you can't handle it or don't like it, you'll just be wasting money on getting a really expensive vape to use with your wax/oil. I also like to pack 2/3 of a bowl, then put some kief, hash, or wax, oil, budder ... whatever ..... onto the dry weed. I let the lighter melt it and then when it's all nice and melted and gets pulled down into the bud, I then put the lighter closer and ignite the weed and the oil that soaked into the weed gets smoked that way. It's a little less harsh than dabbing from a TI nail .... but it doesn't get you as high.

I have a MFLB and I love it. I also bought the AC power adapter for it. Which makes it a great in home vape. But, it's still just a MFLB. Great for on the go. But, not so good for high volume vaping. And you can't use it with concentrates.

I found a Etreme Q for 80 bucks and I am so glad I bought it. I can run balloons or just use the whip. But, if I decide I want to vape concentrates (whether it's bubble hash, kief, or honeycomb, wax, oil) I can just put my concentrates into a 100% pure cotton ball. Roll it up and put it into the bowl of my whip, I can vape all the concentrates I want that way without messing up the vape.
