Here my review of the Guru by Grizzly!
The unit comes in a nice box including the Guru base (battery), dry herb attachment, e-liquid/wax base attachment, e-liquid cart, wax cart, glass mp, glass mp WT adaptater (14mm), loading tool, dabber with silicon tip, brush, charger, user guide and stickers. here a unboxing pic:
Buiding quality & size: It is a plastic body, each part(e-liquid/wax or dry herb) is attached to the base with a sort of guide rail until the clic to securize it. µIt works well but it's definitly a weak point since everytime I remove the glass mp some strength is applied on this "connexion"...except if I take care to put my hand on both the base and the attachment. The glass parts are not very thick but not too thin, although another mp option less breakable is a must to do (in the future I think).
Dry Herb attachment: It is the attachment I used the more (I'm a flower guy...mainly), after some tries I was able to get some nice sessions...there is a small learning curve for me. You can heat to 446°F at max temp, usefull for the clouds chasers even if I think it's better for flavour... The heating chamber is made of ceramic and is surrounded with another ceramic acting as a heat shield (that's why the heating chamber ceramic seems different than the top ceramic), after loading you place the glass mp (or WT adaptater) on the top. The glass mp is another weak point cause is there a sort of large silicon o-ring to make the seal but it's very difficult to put in place, maybe with some oil... and without to mention how glass is fragile...
It heats really fast...I didn't count but I'm sure it's under 30s to heat to 400°F. I loaded it at first with some fine grounded flowers loosely packed..I get some nice clouds but taste degrade after some hits...in fact it prefers tight pack and coarse grind or no grind to works well.
I will not tell the vapor quality is on the top, although it's very decent tasting vapor (no factory taste or robot fart), that's why I prefer to use it dry, although you can push the temp up to get some milky hits (I will post a milk shot!).
Loading is easy with the provided tools but unloading is not "clean" especially is you use grind.
E-liquid/wax attachment: I used the wax atty with ceramic disc and I get some big rips, tasty enough (the atty get a faint of robot fart at first...disappeared quickly), I think it's not a very conservative atty, a load I can use for a lot of hits in my Evolve Plus last me 3-4 big rips with the Guru. I didn't tried the e-liquid attachment (I will never do it!). The battery part offer a variable voltage feature (3.0v to 5.0v) but no temp control...I need to test some different attys to check if they work, the Guru wax atty doesn't fire with all my others batteries...it fires only with the Guru.
Battery life/ base unit interface: The battery life seems awesome...to be honnest I lost the count of the sessions...but it was a lot! To start the unit you clic 3 times, after that you can adjust temp/voltage with the + and - buttons with 1°F/0.1v increment by tap or faster if you keep the button pressed. to start heating you press for 3s for dry herb and only press for wax/e-liquid, with flowers you can adjust temp while heating .
Here another pic:
CONCLUSION: The Guru by Grizzly is definitly a true vape and is a very decent option for a unit able to vape dry herb, wax or e-liquid. I heard the competition about 3 in 1 devices doesn't vape flowers very well...here it is the main goal: to offer a device to taste your flowers, not only to get clouds!
But there is always pros and cons, here the list I made for the conclusion.
Pro:
- Tasty , especially whole nuggs
- smooth hits (at least under 400°F)
- 3 in 1
- Vape ungrouded flowers very well (quasi comparable to the HA2.2 extraction!)
- Water tool adaptater included
- battery life
- feels solid and sturdy in hands
- affordable price
- avalaible in Europe
Cons:
- the connexion between the battery and the attachment coul be more solid
- difficult to put on the glassmp /WT adaptater (it's easier to remove), I even use a dabber to put the silicon o-ring in place.
- Doesn't produces large clouds under 400°F, not a big issue for me especially since I can go up of 440°F
- No micro-usb charge option
- No unbreakable mouthpiece option (it's a must to put in your future plans Grizzly!)
- a bit large for a portable but not a big deal imo
- building quality might be better with an aluminium body.
Thanks for looking and let me know if you have some questions.
