Just saw Philomena (2013). Judi Dench is such a great actress. I don't think I've ever seen a movie that she wasn't in that I didn't like. If you haven't seen this one, it's definitely one to check out. The Catholic Church has definitely had some issues over the years and this painfully depicts one of them.
This one is based on a true story.

I watched district 9 for the first time since I saw it in theaters. Peter Jackson handed the directing reins to neill blomkamp and he did a spectacular job with every aspect of the movie. I enjoyed how he made the aliens look ,IMO more realistic then your average green spaceman. This movie also propelled sharlto copley into the spotlight. Overall great movie,I've heard reports of a sequel in the works.

How far back are we talking? With Netflix and Amazon Prime and a lot of shitty weather, I've been feasting on the classics that we've all heard about but I've never seen and watched recently.

Thought Dr. Stangelove was way, way ahead of it's time. Loved it.

One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest funny/ disturbing/ thought provoking. Also ahead of it's time.

Lawrence of Arabia is one of forvorite classics. The implied ass-rape scene was awkward, but cosidering the fact that they included it and that the movie was made before I was born is remarkable to me.

watched Iron Sky this week on Netflix and loved it . lots of funny takes on old scifi films as well as being straight up ridiculous on its own . The sequel sounds stupid but men living on the moon and in the center of the earth opens a huge spectrum of old scifi films to ape ... I'll definitely watch it , but probably not until it's been on netflix for a few years .

I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too
So I watched Frozen with the 'source pans' this Christmas for the first time and loved it.

Since then I have been forced to endure it an addional 25 times, have the CD in my car and my home has been transformed into an ice palace.

I know all the songs by heart and often wake with ' do you want to build a snowman' ringing in my ears.

I now wish I were dead.

@Philreal187 can't wait till they're old enough to sit down and watch Ghostdog the way of the samurai with me. Been meaning watch that one for years. I know the soundtrack very well.

On netflix : Street Thief. Interesting faux-u-mentory about a thief. Very intense at times. Can't recommend it enough.

I'm just finishing up Hart's War with Collin Farrell and Bruce Willis. A very good movie and very well written.

The Fault In Our Stars....normally this kind of movie doesn't get a second of my time. I'm the typical gimme a bunch of blood, guts, shooting, explosions, add some humor and SciFi and I'm happy, kinda guy. But I was channel surfing and stopped long to get caught into some monologue and the next thing I know I had been crying my eyes out for over an hour. It's not a really new release since it was HBO but I would equate it to Love Story. When I finally came out of hiding my family thought I was coming down with something because my eyes were all puffy and red. Every time I'm surfing and that thing comes up I bolt.

I defy anyone to watch that movie and not feel they have the right to sue me for the cost of the tissues....

On Netflix I enjoyed:
(Documentary)
Degenerate Art: The Art and Culture of Glass Pipes
- I gave it 4 stars. Covers the origin of the spoon pipe and colored glass, glass blowing culture, legal issues, and the high reaches of creativity with glass pipes.

(Comedy)
Russell Brand: Messiah Complex
-I thought it was awesome.

(Film)
L.I.E. (2001)
- Surprisingly good. Watched it because I find actor Paul Dano interesting. He plays a 14 year old boy who is gay, but hasn't come out. It gets into the gray areas of his relationships.

@Vicki Good eye! That is Ron Perlman, who I quite enjoy; I would highly recommend The City of Lost Children with Mr. Perlman in it. It is by one of my favorite directors, Jean-Pierre Jeunet, & one of my favorite movies; as a courtesy heads up, it is in French.

Haha, it does feel like you are watching forever before his punishment instincts kick in. After I first saw this it gave me super high hopes for another Thomas Jane Punisher, he kills it as Frank Castle. But so far nada, and it's already over 2 years old... You ever check out that newer Judge Dredd movie?

The one with Karl Urban? Not yet.
