It's getting hammered again right now with tornadoes. The picture above is the Weather Channel's official car (according to CNN, so that's my disclaimer). Lots of people stranded in their cars right now sitting in harms way.

Protect yourself Oklahoma FCers!

Don't worry, us OK vaporists have expert tornado dodging abilities (I hope!)

Something funny about your thread title, some dude on Twitter posted something very similar during the big one last week, and as Twitter is filled with a bunch of emotional do-gooders/hipsters, the poor guy was hammered with hate retweets, and ended up spending the next hundred posts saying "sorry" to everyone.

Here's a couple shots I got from last week, this first one from the highway:

Oklahoma residents have a horrible habit of rubbernecking to see wrecks etc, so this mess has caused hour long traffic jams for over a week now (during peak traffic times).

I got this one from one of the neighborhoods (car, meet house).

edit: I also found this neat website that shows the path of the tornado (it's a bit inaccurate/over-dramatic in it's depiction of the tornado hitting the movie theater, which it didn't.. it hit the hospital instead lol), with clear satellite shots of the damage, the day after:

Does God hate the east coast too? OK is in Tornado Alley and us east coasters have to worry about hurricanes every year, and aren't exempt from tornadoes either. Two years ago my neighborhood lost some houses and close to 1000 trees thanks to a tornado. Hurricane season starts today and lasts for 6 months.

That said, Moore OK certainly deserves a break. May 20th was the 5th time it's been hit since '98.

I love how so many of the survivors are quick to credit "god" for their making it out alive, not thinking about how that also implies that this supposed, all-knowing/all-powerful deity felt that the lives of those who were lost just simply... weren't worth the effort, I guess?

When will mankind shrug off these stupid superstitions - I mean we (most of us) understand what causes these and other natural disasters and the basic principles of science in general, yet so many still feel the need to literally view them as an "act of god". When someone gets struck by lightning now days, you don't hear people crediting Thor, what makes this Judeo-Christian god any less silly to believe in, in this day and age?

Somewhat related, and quite amusing:
