No, not REM, but Fox News. I know, my ranting about this station is getting a bit much, but every time I turn around, they say something else that pisses me off.

So REM sends them a cease and desist order NOT to play "Losing My Religion" on their station, and Fox has the gaul to say that it was nothing but a publicity stunt, when in fact their whole station is a fucking publicity stunt.

Check it out : http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/09/07/rem-fox-news-losing-my-religion/

Fox is fucked up because they played the song during the DNC. They were trying to insinuate to people that Democrats are ungodly, and that pisses me off. I wish someone would pull the plug on them. They aren't news, they are more like a sitcom.

Yup. And THAT'S what REM was pissed off about and then Fox turns around to say that they hope that REM is happy with their publicity fix.

Fox has become soooo transparent that they have become a parody of themselves. It just amazes me that even the conservative right can't see through this stuff. I have a next door neighbor who is a conservative republican and watches Fox religiously (pardon the pun). When I mentioned to her about Fox being totally biased to the right, she looks at me with these quizzical eyes and says, "No their not. They are totally fair and balanced with no leaning one way or the other", and the amazing thing is that there are TONS of people who believe the exact same thing.

Why can't conservatives see through this crap? I mean, I would consider myself a left leaning liberal, but I sure as hell can see that MSNBC is far from "fair and balanced" and leans very far to the left.

I think one of the main symptoms of being a conservative republican is myopia, for if that weren't the case, FOX would have folded up their tents a long time ago.

The conservative media has people fearing the liberal bias. So to escape this bias, they only listen to their partisan crap. Doesn't that make a lot of sense. You get to think of Obama as a socialist and stuff like that. When will they realize that some of us would be driving Obabmacars by now.

An interesting article-
http://www.cybercollege.com/bias.htm

"FAIR, a liberal media watchdog group tabulated five months of two of the most popular TV news discussion shows -- Special Report with Brit Hume on FOX, and Wolf Blitzer Reports on CNN.
Both programs featured Republican guests (generally considered conservative) more often than Democratic guests (generally considered to be more liberal).
But, as shown here, the FOX News channel favored Republicans by a margin of about 8:1.
The same survey showed that FOX News featured white guests 93 percent of the time and male guests 91 percent of the time. According to the Nielsen Company, more than 95 percent of FOX News viewers are white."
.......
"A University of Maryland study reported in late 2010 that the audience for FOX News was far less accurately informed about world and national events than the audiences of other news sources, especially public broadcasting.1
The study found that there was a direct relationship between the amount of time spend watching FOX News and holding false information on key issues of the day. No partisan divide was found. People who watched FOX, and voted Democratic were just as likely to be incorrect on major issues as the FOX viewers who voted Republican."

That last part seems really strange to me. People who watch FOX News and vote Democratic? I can see being amused by the bias, but if instead they're "incorrect on major issues", then :hmm:.

Why don't conservatives just realize that no talented artist wants anything to do with their shit policies? Oh well, they still have Nugent. HAHA

Their is a study out there that says people who watch only FOX news actually know less than people who watch NO news. I guess there are enough dumb men that like annoying women in skirts, since that is all FOX has to offer.

And sorry lwien, but I have to argue that MSNBC is not "very far left" give me a break. I already explained my reasoning on this in the "is there a liberal media" thread. MSNBC is centrist at best, the Conservatives just try to make them seem liberal so they can keep moving the center to the right. Liberal news is on Current TV and Free Speech TV. Two HUGE media conglomerates... that you don't get with any basic cable package. ha

And sorry lwien, but I have to argue that MSNBC is not "very far left" give me a break.

The vehement rhetoric that comes out of MSNBC is just as obnoxious as what comes out of Fox News (well, not quite, but close). The ONLY difference is that they come from opposite ends of the spectrum.

Can ya go further left than MSNBC and further right than Fox? Sure ya can, but then you're getting wayyyyyy out there on the fringe.

For major cable news organizations, the way I see it, CNN, while leaning a bit left, still falls in the center between Fox and MSNBC.

And while many consider Jon Stewart's the Daily Show as a news program, I don't. They parody the news and are masters at taking things out of context (and in context many times) to show how one party or the other will totally contradict themselves, which I find quite amusing. But what's even more amusing is how he constantly brings up the hypocrisy that goes on at Fox.

Edit: Aesthyrian, no need to apologize for disagreeing with me. We may not agree, but that surly doesn't mean that I don't respect your viewpoint. The "give me a break" comment may have gone a bit over the top though. :brow: ;)

So here's a very recent and very clear idea about how blind the Fox News viewers are. This just happened 5 min. ago. Fox did a poll asking their viewers this:

Did Clint Eastwood's appearance at the RNC help or hurt Mitt Romney's cause?

He helped the cause------91%
He hurt the cause---------9%

So let me get this straight. 91% of the viewers thought that Eastwood talking to an invisible Obama sitting on an empty chair, who was telling Romney to go fuck himself helped Romney's cause?

Ummmm................ :lmao:

Turk, we may have our differences but you are right on here. FWIW, I turned off the TV months ago, and I feel a lot better. Somehow, even though I don't hear all the crap from both sides, the earth keeps rotating . . . amazing :)

I've had mine off for a handful of years. Even got rid of the antenna. The internet is a great place for alternative media that doesn't make you hate the world and raise your anxiety levels.

I believe there's already a thread on this (is there a liberal bias thread). In fact, it was started by you.

Is there a "left winged liberal" media bias.......?

I don't remember any of these arguments, when there was plenty of opportunity to do so. No, for whatever reason... it just fell off the face of the map. Only to be resurrected again in another thread.

Mods, can we please get a merge?

Vicki, the democrat party is the one, that decided to remove the references to God. They're the ones that dealt up a huge dose of hypocrisy, when they adopted God back. They own any commentary on the move, all by themselves.

There was a small group that wanted to do that, and took a quick vote at the DNC, without anyone's approval. That kind of BS happens at both the RNC and DNC all the time, but nothing this controversial. Of course, Faux News and the Repugs will use it as a chance to say all Democrats are heathens that hate Christ. Pisses me the fuck off, it really does. Most Democrats love God, and I am one of them. I'm so damned sick of Faux and people like Pat Robertson saying ignorant BS like, "party of gays and Godlessness," and Faux playing "Losing my religion."It's damned judgmental for a supposed Christian, and stupid of Faux. :cuss:

The same could be said of all the other networks and the democratic party. The Republicans aren't doing anything, the democrats didn't perfect.

BTW, I find it rather offensive. I don't refer to any of you as "libtards", can we please drop the "repugnants". Its personally insulting.

The thread, should still be merged, btw.

Considering that this thread is about a RIGHT winged conservative biased news station, I don't see why this thread should be merged at all, but hey.......if so, so be it.

Let me ask you a question. How did the Dems deal up a huge dose of hypocrisy when they adopted God back into their platform? Do you honestly believe that, in general, Democrats don't believe in God?

Now, you're just parsing. By your own admission, you contonually bring up Fox News, to complain about it. Actually, there should be just one Fox News thread for you to complain in. However, given the subject matter that is taking place and the subject of bias. It most certainly should be merged. Of course, no one will agree with me.

Let me ask you a question. How did the Dems deal up a huge dose of hypocrisy when they adopted God back into their platform? Do you honestly believe that, in general, Democrats don't believe in God?

You weren't paying attention? The dems actively DROPPED God from their platform/party message. It made the news when they did it. Pissed off a lot of people. People like Vicki, I imagine. Though, with Vicki's anger directed at Fox, its obvious its misdirected anger. Then after the democratic party received backlash from its constituents, they added God back in. That's hypocrisy.

I don't believe I addressed whether dems believe in God or not. Looks more like you're trying to drive the conversation a certain direction, imo. I do know, you all have a lock on the atheists and agnostics, for the most part. But, my mom's family votes almost exclusively democrat and they're all Southern Baptists (the ones, you all lump in, with "Repugnants"). Nope, they vote straight party line, democrat, every single time. So, I'm quite aware that dems do have their share of religious people.

My anger is not misplaced at all! Fox News was very unprofessional when they played "Losing my religion" over and over during the DNC, insinuating Democrats hate God. That's just childish BS, it's not something a credible news station would ever do.
