Getting tired of "OG" everything? Local market saturation.

Hey guys,

I'm starting to get tired of all the OG strains that are grown in BC. The grassy/lemon OG flavour is the back bone of almost every grower around so the market is very saturated. The quality is usually good but one gets pretty tired of the same thing after a while. I guess I really shouldn't complain as I'm getting $5/g and it's very well grown. Yet, I long for a sweet fruity sativa with an amazing cerbral high. I'm tempted to grow my own sativa if legalization doesn't hurry up.

Anyone else have issues with a single type of weed over saturating their local market?

I am in a non legal state and all I mostly see is Kush these days , OG allot and many other strains of Kush , I love Kush but I am getting sick of it. I'd love some Haze ...

For me OG kush will always taste and feel like home. It's characteristic smell is earth, grass/wood and lemon. It's very stinky and upon opening a bag it floods the air with the smell.

It's really good for chilling on a porch with a bbq going and a beer in your hand with friends. It's a relaxing high mostly felt in the body that gets you into a euphoric, lazy, chilled out mood. Perfect for a party and relaxed socialization.

For me it would be hard to miss the appearance, smell, taste and high of OG Kush. I'm sure there's quite a few places where a local strain is what everyone smokes, so much so that it's part of the culture. I think the west coast cannabis world could use some variety but I hope to never lose OG Kush. It would be like losing a piece of home.

Pretty awesome problem to have. I'm stuck with crazily overpriced hydroponics or locally grown mango strains. New England is probably not the ideal growing climate...

Same in Amsterdam theres always the unmistakable smell of haze in the air. Such a wonderful smell and high.

Love that smell , don't really remember it when I visited Amsterdam but when I was growing up haze was plentiful in my parts , now it cannot be found and when it usually is , well it's not the real deal. The taste is def different than most other strains .

I find myself very lucky for at least having medical dispensaries around. I Dont normally see the same strain around here. At least in the LA area there are really so many different kinds I would have a hard time trying them all lol. There is always an OG or a Kush in each dispensary ive been too. I normally tend to sway towards concentrates though. I have been able to find many great strains in crumble or wax form. The flavors hit close to home and the high's are always welcomed. Im more of a sativa guy and one sativa that i see everywhere would be jack herrer doesnt seem to matter what dispensary i go to there is always some jack herrer when i go in lol. I can wait for legalization (in Canada), for the only reason that I'll get better quality and choices. Concentrates will be a big bonus too.

Interesting to see the strain groups that are regionally available.

Almost no Cheese of any kind in the Portland dispensaries I have been to. I have not tried Girl Scout Cookies simply because I am sick of the overhype and now hybridization so there are "cookies this" and "cookies that". Tons of Kush and OG, acceptable amounts of Diesel, not much Haze that I have seen, NO Cheese (a couple of dispensaries have LA Cheese as a clone), NO Skunk.

I am glad to be in a legal state and have choice. I know how privileged I am.

Are you in BC? Because same here, I don't even understand this thread, BC is FULL of about a billion different strains.

I love a good purple too!
It's hard to find a good purple strain here in SFV. I used to get really good lavender and purple Kush but not so much any more.
Gorilla Glue #4 don't do it for me!
XJ13 is a good sativa but the haze taste is super strong vapeing it, to much for me!

Cost, and distance make it prohibitive to go into Vancouver. I can buy my weed for less than the dispensaries sell at the same level of quality, and I'd rather not drive 4 hours round trip sitting in traffic plus pay a toll bridge.

OG gets real boring after a while. But at least there are lots of different crosses. Some of them I get tolerant too real fast so I try not to use those ones too often. I do like the taste of OG for sure though, and there are times when I use a lot of OG crosses.

I had an OG cross called Ghost Train Haze which was pretty wicked. The guys at the dispensary didn't like the taste or how potent it was and sold it on discount to get rid of it, LOL. They did the same with some chemdog that tasted kinda like carne asada or something, meat and onions. It had a great effect though.

The OG Kush I know is "Ocean Grown" and it's been the same strain for years from different sources. Even all the shatter I've ever had has been OG Kush! XD
