Hay all! First time positing but have been reading this forum on and off since i discovered vaping!

Currently me and my two regular stoner buddys are having a month long break from the green. Part of my thinking behind doing it is to try and get myself off tobacco...i'm in Scotland so unfortunately folk who smoke purely green joints are rare.

Though Ive never smoked regular cigarettes I must admit I do crave joints. I used to have a magic flight but was never happy with it, so i sold it and eventually saved my pennies to get a Inhaltor XP. Which is a great device, though it seems to vary quite a lot whether i get clouds or not.Currently I'm trying to make my mind up what to do when the green-less month is over. Should I cut out joints all together maby? Also complicated by the fact my stoner buddys are old fashioned joint smokers!

Anyone else have similar experiences?

It's all your choice. You want to quit? Than quit all tobacco.

Try getting your friends in to vaping so when you get high with them, you guys could have a vape only session.

Yeah, if you want to quit tobacco and it's a necessity to have it in a joint. Also going back and forth from vaporizing to smoking is the worst way to try and convert to vapor.

Agreed; it does not help the lungs to give them sweet vapor only to follow with drowning them in nasty smoke.
I personally FINALLY quit tobacco (& nicotine/e-cigs); as typical it was a LONG struggle. I went from smoking tobacco for years, to vaporizing, to both, & then added in oral tobacco (for good measure ). E-Cigs were a 'nice addition' for a few years, which was adding to my addiction :\. Didn't take long before I was vaporizing indoors, smoking outdoors, & typically always with dip in my mouth. :disgust:
Enough was enough; nicotine free for 6 months! I am still tempted often, but NO MORE NICOTINE FOR ME. :goon:

Wait, are you trying to say that you've become addicted to tobacco simply through smoking it in joints? If so I'd say you're definitely not addicted and it's 100% mental.

As blissdreamer said it's completely up to you. If you still want to actually smoke, get a tiny pipe so you conserve your bud/don't have to use tobacco. If you want to move to vaping, cut everything out and move to vaping, you'll conserve even more bud.

I never understood. Tobacco can not get you high so it has no purpose, then why is it used? MJ has purpose. So why Tobacco?

For people who want to smoke a joint but not throw a whole .2-4 g in there.

He mentioned he's in Scotland so gunna take a guess and say they don't get much bud out there.

even if tobacco was free why, smoke it? You can't get high from it, and I used to be a chain social smoker, and I hated every minute of it, I did it for socializing.

I remember people to this day telling me that I just don't understand, and that you can not understand how good smoking is unless you are a smoker, then I tell them that I am a former chain smoker, and they are just baffled as to why I ever stopped smoking. They are baffled as to why someone would not torture there bodies forever instead of just saying ok, I did it, I socialized, I'm done though, time to move on from the pretending to get stoned with pretend joints that are really tobacco and not mj, and to stop pretending that cigarettes can get you high.

Then what sucks. Is when you see someone who is a smoker and who smokes mj, and who never seems to have enough money for mj because they keep spending it all on cigarettes.

If you consider not enough oxygen to the head a 'high',Then cigs can give you a 'buzz'

In small doses nicotine is a relaxant,so thAt would be the only benefit of using it.
But the damage smoke does to the body doesn't overthrow any Benefit you would receive

tobacco is said to have some positive effects on the mind albeit more subtle ones. moreover, it was almost banned from american sport as considered performance enhancing. imo albert einstein being one of the world's cleverest people and being a smoker was no coincidence.

Related topic, food for thought:

Burning tobacco has more negative health effects than benefits. It's kind of off topic, but there's always vaping, patches, etc. Consider that nicotine is fiercely addictive, apart from it's potential benefits.

Nicotine also stimulates the release of several neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine, epinephrine, vasopressin, dopamine, arginine and beta-endorphin. Pain, anxiety and other negative symptoms are relieved and positive pleasant sensations are increased. Nicotine Effects

After six months, patients who wore the nicotine patch regained 46 percent of their age-adjusted "normal performance" on long-term memory tests, whereas patients in the placebo group worsened by 26 percent. Nicotine Improves Memory for People With Mild Cognitive Impairment

I switched to ecigs 2 years ago after smoking cigs for 15+ years, not really trying to quit... it was cheaper and I liked it. After my stink and cough went away with money saved and no self-discipline exercised, I became a fan. Note, I did waste money and time on ecig junk before I found a sustainable solution. edit: I did have a strong will to find a flavor and a device that hit like a tasty mack truck. I found it eventually.

I've stepped from 24mg, 2 mg at a time, down to 10mg now. I'm in no hurry to give it up tbh, but the novelty is kinda wearing off and I don't want to be dependent on nicotine forever.

I started smoking cigs when a pack cost $.50 from a machine. When I quit I was smoking 2 1/2 packs a day, about $2/pack. I understand a pack today costs up to $10/pack in NYC. That is incredible! It makes sense for folks to switch to E-cigs. In fact, it makes dollars and sense.

I don't understand all the opposition to the E-cig. I don't notice any smell while walking by folks. Can you do E-cigs in an airport?

I know smokers, who are in over 40 years old. And every single one says they will never even try an ecig because the are too old to learn something new. I try telling them that it literally could not be hard if they would just spend the 30 seconds of brain power to learn how to use an ecig, how to load change cartridges. And how to charge the battery. But they are just as afraid of trying something like an ecig as they are about vaporizers for their mj.

I don't understand their fear of modern tech. I mean it is the sam=e thing with texting. Why are older folks so afraid of enjoyable easy tech just because it is new to them and not what they grew up with?

Also I have a aunt who is 45 years old, lives alone, and is very lonely, she does not have many friends and lives in a rural small town with good distance from her neighbors so basically no contact with them, yet she says she wants a hoppy to give her life some meaning. And she has free wifi from a next door business. I told her about getting one of my spare laptops for free and that way she could connect to the world to join Facebook chat and stuff and to not be so bored and lonely. As much as she wants to she refuses to even try to learn how because just like with texting it is to new for her to even try to learn because she admits that because of her age and unfamiliar ness with the tech that she is to old to learn that new generation stuff.

It is so sad. Such a waste. If only there was some way to convince her to at least try it for a week just to see if it would help her loneliness, but she insists it would be to hard to learn for someone of her limited experience, or should I say zero experience regarding the internet and computers.

I just wish there was something I could do, because I do care for family, but as much as I know she would have a high probability of enjoying the internet, I also know that there is equally no chance that I know of of getting my aunt to just try to learn it.

My problem with e-cigs isn't the tech - I love tech - but the taste. Have yet to find a single juice that tastes like actual tobacco.

Unfortunately for me, I was raised in a tobacco-crazy subculture. Been smoking a pipe since I was 5ish. So I like the taste and smell of tobacco.

I've looked into ordering snus from Europe, but damn, I balk when shipping costs more than the product being shipped. Just got a quote of $45 in shipping for $13 worth of snus.

Been trying to vape various tobaccos, no real vapor production.

I used snus for a few years but the shipping costs got ridiculous (it was only $3.00 or so when I first bought from them). I just started buying the stuff at the local 7/11 and it's just as good for me. not quite as strong. I'm a light user. maybe 2 SNUS a day.

I quit snus a couple months ago and use a halo E-cig now. I have a light addiction and 6 mg/ml is enough for me. a couple pulls and my desire to run out and buy a pack is gone. which is good because I only desire nicotine when I'm too high to drive. :)

I know plenty of people that smoked joints. Quit the herb but then started smoking tobacco.

I smoked tobacco 27 years stopped 10 years ago and mainly smoked pure single sheets but these can be a nightmare to roll well depending on the weed.

I've been vaping a week and tried before but today's tech makes it easy.

@arf777 I've only had one bottle of juice that really tasted like tobacco, and the mixer isn't in business anymore.

By "like tobacco" I mean it tasted like how a pack of Camels smells when you open it the first time, not like smoking it. I've tried mixing my own tobacco juice and it's way harder to get a good flavor than fruit or other savory flavors. I vape fruit and spice flavors now so I can't make a recommendation :p

if you are vaping a tobacco flavour ejuice it's likely TSNAs are going to be there which could or could not make a risk there tantamount to vaping whole leaf tobacco compared to straight nicotine.

When I first started smoking green it was always in joints with tobacco. I pretty much ended up a tobacco smoker for 5 years due to smoking lots of weed and therefore a fair amount of baccy. When I finally got ready to quit tobacco I read the allan carr easyway to stop smoking, probably the best I have ever ready due to being so influential in its message.

I brought my volcano around this time and loved it but also got a EHLE glass bong and ended up bonging for another 3 years. Before Christmas I finally had a 3 month break from weed and said to myself if I was going to use, I would only 100% vape and no smoking. Been over two months now of just vaping and couldn't go back to smoking now, and use like 30% of the weed. I also get so high each time, never less as I use more, as I just to with smoking.

In regards to your friends, I tend to take my voclano around and let anyone who wants any to have a bit of the bag, goes nicely with smoking for some people so all good.

Hey PeacheyMcKeitch, when I was making my own cigarettes I would often throw some green in. When I quit smoking tobacco and started using the ecig I cut out joints and blunts because it felt too much like smoking a cigarette.

I only vape and use glass now, if you feel like you need a little nicotine I would recommend a kanger pro tank, and a variable volt or ego c twist battery. About $50 set up, as for liquid flavors I have never found a tobacco that was really a tobacco. Alien visions e juice does have the best I've had with their bobbas bounty.

Hey guys, first time posting here as well :)

I feel you OP, I also got my first vaporizer a couple of days ago (a nice Extreme Q, I'm already loving it!), and I've stoped smoking my joints mixed with some tobbaco. And even though I'm not a tobaco smoker I can feel the urge of smoking again, even now that I can get even higher with my new toy.

So yeah, it's prefectly possible to get addicted to nicotine, even if you only take small doses of it. It's been a couple of days without smoking a single spliff now, and I want to keep it that way because it sucks feeling this constant need, and I know it won't last more than a couple of weeks.
It's more than worth it, because the vaporizer is not only healthier, but I'm getting some amazing and trippy highs with it.

Happy vaping :science:

I quit a 20+ year pack a day Marlboro red habit about 6 weeks ago using the same setup as @RESpecht (ego c with kanger tank) I also couldn't find a juice that tasted like tobacco but I really like the bobbas bounty e-juice too!

I thought I'd have the hardest time quitting but with this setup it hasn't been too bad for me. I think making the switch with MJ first really helped me a lot. I don't puff on the ecig like I would have with a Marlboro I just rip it once or twice a handful of times a day. I've also been stepping down the nicotine every week or so.

Good luck to anyone trying to quit!!
