Discontinued G Grind Portable Vaporizer - heated-air blowing wand type

I searched and couldn't find a post about this, which I just dug up on ebay. It appears to be a pen style torch lighter with a special catalyst which takes heat while blowing out a stream of hot air. At that price I'm a little reluctant but for concentrates and the like it might be amazing. Made in USA, supposed limited lifetime warranty.

Now that I look at it, it seems like a vapor-genie type filter attached to a pen lighter, which might actually be a great idea.

It looks like a portable mini heat-gun. The whole.. turn any smoking tool into a vaporizer tool approach is interesting.

Although, it seems like you can't attach the tip to a bowl like you would a heat-gun, and the hot air would just blow out all of the herb out..

That, and it doesn't seem like there is any heat adjustment-- it looks like the longer you keep it on, the hotter it gets.

Even if my assumptions are correct, I can still see it as a great tool for the VG series. e.g. Passing around a VG in a circle with the heat gun.. it'd help prevent anyone from burning, remove soot, lose the learning curve, etc..

*maybe even the Lotus hot plate ??

Very VERY interested in this. I have a nice plasma pipe that I loved smoking out of before I switched to vape only. This would effectively let me vape with my leftover pipes and give me that combustion feel. I love my MFLB but I would like to give this a try.

I want to wait and see what you guys think about it before I go ahead and spend the $.

That is a Bernzomatic soldering iron torch (~$8.00) with a different screw on tip than the soldering tip. There is a flame adjustment right above the clip to set it down on a flat surface for flame control. Too bad they just don't sell the tip part as the Bernzomatic torches are crap, IME.

hahahaha yuo hit the nail on the head as i have one of those, looks like they just removed the screw on point used for soldering and left the piece with the ceramic grid in it (the piece that gets red hot and transfers heat better then just a flame.

This is kind of hilarious! I watched the video then went and dug out the soldering iron attachment for the Bernzomatic. The G-Grind is NOTHING MORE than the standard Bernzomatic with the pointy soldering iron tip unscrewed, sans the G-Grind sticker they put over the top of the Bernzomatic. I haven't tried it yet, but it does look like it will work for vaporizing. If anyone wants to try it, they sell these soldering iron torches at any Ace Hardware for less than $10.00. (You won't get the nifty sticker they put over the body of the torch though......)

And the grinders, presses, and essential oil extractors are available at the hardware too?? ;)

yes it is correct it is just the hot air attatchment for the torch. i actually have one sitting in front of me now. with these not all the butane is combusted. if i hold a lighter up to the outlet port i can get a small flame to light up for a bit before the airpressure blows it out.

on a side note though, i did use the hot air blower with my old vaporgenie. just hold the thing down on the flame filter and it would vape pretty evenly.

it came with my bernzomatic torch kit. its just the microtorch with the hot air blower attatchment. soldering iron tips screw into the tip of that. i picked it up at the local napa store for 10 bucks.

this is a little money maker for us and allows us to pass on savings to others. Its kinda the way business works. This item does however work great for vaping and if it didnt do a good job we would never carry it. Our extractors, grinders, press, and other aluminum products however cannot be bought at hardware stores. Please if you have any questions contact us and we will help. We are a respectable company not out to screw anyone over and we are always here for our customers.
The one thing we do offer is a direct warranty protecting against defects, this isnt available at the hardware store. Our sticker means more than some may think. ;)

I kinda like the idea I must admit, but you should have chosen a product with a piezo element obviously.

I can send you one for 85 bucks if you want one, even make you a little custom sticker to go with it.

Will the soldering iron I linked to be a viable option to vape out of a hand held glass pipe? I have a MFLB, but I miss using my collection of glass.

I saw on the back you can remove the tip and use it as a "flameless heat blower" as said on the box. I want to figure out if this is SAFE to use.

It's right about $20. If this is a safe way to vape I'll be picking it up today from the local sears :) I hope to hear some feedback. The only way I can imagine it being unsafe is if I was somehow inhaling butane. This wouldn't be my primary vaping method, but I certainly don't wanna poison myself either.

EDIT: "Piezo electronic automatic ignition system". Not sure what the real advantage is to this but the post above me seems to think it's important so I figured the best thing to do would be ask you geniuses.

The piezoelectric element ignites it, so you don't have to use a separate lighter to light it like with the Bernzomatic/G-grind.

If it has the heat blowing option it should work, but you may want to find one that uses RoHS compliant materials only if you're concerned about your health. A starting temperature of around 150C would be ideal I think, around 200C would probably work to as long as you aren't in to low temp vaping. But only some manufacturers provide such information unfortunately. If I'd have to make a rough estemate I'd say 150C equals about 17W.

It's also advisable to use the purest butane you can find since you will be inhaling some of it's left overs at least. I'm not familiar with American brands, but I've seen the name Colibri mentioned before if my memory serves me right.

edit: as I expected 30W is a little on the high side, the Wall Lenk LSP-25 or Solderpro 25 Soldering Iron is rated for 400 to 750F at the solder tip. 400F is about 204C which isn't to bad, I'm sure you could control the heat a bit by variating the distance of the nozzle to the herb. But if I were you I'd go and find one that's RoHS compliant, starts at about 15 to 20W and has piezo ignition and the largest tank available.

i would say to buy it and try it dont get anything on it and if it has the heat blowing option it will likely work, if it doesnt work well then take it back. basically it needs to be a butane soldering pen with removable tip

G-Grind_Com,
It's very nice of G grind to come out and make an appearance on forum, being so upfront about their product.

While having the oppurtunity to talk to a machining company, I'd like to suggest you guys make a hand grinder which is made to deliver a far finer grind than is currently available. Vaporizers like the MFLB demand an extremely fine grind.

That can be done simply enough, just need to make the holes smaller where the tobacco can fall through so that it must stay in the grinding area for a longer period. ill mess around and see what i can do, i prolly wont carry them but ill post some pics and maybe youll want it :)

i also want to notify everyone that i have lowered the price of ours to 25.00 for a limited time, still a bit more expensive than the hardware store but youll be helping a great company. We also make frequent donations to norml, and have giveaways on other sites. I am currently trying to more out some sort of affiliation with this site and begin a giveaway type program.

Well that price is appealing. My question is how can we be certain that this method is 100% safe? No butane inhalation, no materials throwing foul fumes etc.

I am looking for a vape like this, but without being 100% certain of the safety I will not use it. I am still anxious about my MFLB and I hope that's 100% safe.

It's a 5 bucks solder iron, what do you expect?

It wasn't made to breath through, nor is RoHS compliant.

As far as health & safety are concerned you seem to be asking the wrong people mate. G-Grind doesn't mention anything like RoHS compliant or butane additives, not one single time. He even waves my previous recommendations away by advising you to just try that Solderpro 25 which also doesn't seem to be made out of RoHS compliant materials.

Are you sure you want his advise on this?

Nope. That's why I haven't done anything with this and I'm asking you guys if there is a SAFE similar solution. I can live with my MFLB and not using my glass. I can't live if I am sucking in poison daily lol. I know the hakko vape setups are fantastic, but not quite the same level of portability at all. Would be nice if there was a hakko quality iron that was just as safe but portable.
