I know. But in Vicki's case, her arms are sore from repeated draws...so a butterfly would give her a break, if it was used on the top of her hand, which is an option.

I am going to start taking pictures of my bruised arm every time, picture documentation. Then show it to my doctor and ask her what I should do.

That is a good idea. They should be accommodating you as much as they can, to make this as comfortable as possible. **Big hug for you Vicki**

Yes i understand that, but with a butterfly you have more of a chance of hemolysis or platelet clumping which will require another blood draw later. Butterflies tend to roll also and when you need multiple tubes, its a pain.

Find a better phlebotomist Vicki -ask for someone who's been doing it for years, not someone with only a few years under their belt. I'm not saying you don't have hard veins to stick, i'm sure you do.

My veins ribbon out and dive away from the needle and are hard , they're so scared up after all this time. No more IVs or pick lines for me. No-one can just walk up to me and draw easily out of my arms. Last time at lab corp I had to hit it myself. I can only say thank god they let me.

That is hard core. I would faint trying to hit my own vein...that's why I never went through with going into Med Lab Sciences. I am too much of a wuss.
