hi. ive had some really undesirable experiences with 2 separate vaporizers now which keep sending me back to simply smoking because it is *less* harmful to my health.
that sounds crazy right? vaporizing is supposed to be better for you!! well thats what i thought too. part of my problem is perhaps because i medicate *alot* and i am also very sensitive to carcinogens so i require something to use on the go which has restricted me to handhelds (portables). but then again im not sure if any stationary units would not also have these same issues... if anyone has any suggestions or ideas, they are welcomed. thanks.
VAPIR : NO2
this was the first vap i tried. when i first started using it, i began to get really itchy. i can only assume i had an allergic reaction to some of the hardcore toxic plastic that it comes with. In addition to that, i was getting short of breath after vaping with it. wtf!! i was so confused because combusting with a lighter NEVER gives me those symptoms. i realize that none of the plastic is involved in the heating process, but... the very fact that smoke touches so much plastic on its way to you must be enough to make the smoke toxic (imo). (at least to someone extremely sensitive to carcinogens/toxins). I must also mention that the very first *microhit* u get in which you can actually see smoke (vapor) come up the tube tastes fine and seems to be ok, but thats hardly a hit!! i wouldnt get too much respiratory symptoms from doing *just that* but, to actually finish off a bowl and get more than that first half/microhit..(and turn the weed brown/vaped) i start tasting things like metal/plastic/disgusting bits of smoke i can exhale which i know are NOT vapor. Also, it will seemingly allow you to take these *phantom plastic/metal hits* as long as you desire... the smoke/vapor never seems to stop. You can leave the unit on and it will simply leak vapor out of it unendingly (even empty). what it is, i have no idea... plastic metal bits of smoke? heh. so u can keep hitting this and killing yourself quicker (if desired). lol

this is my 2nd attempt at finding a healthier way to ingest cannabis. It seemed all natural (wood, etc, better than plastic right?) but at first view, this thing just looked way too cheap. I was thinking are you serious? this is what im going to pay 100 bucks for ? but i did it anyways. mistake!!! so, this one burns the initial cannabis hit a little better than the no2.. and you get more of a solid *hit* which actually tastes like weed. after that first hit? it seems to BURN UP the metal inside it and gives me respiratory symptoms. (i get short of breath). It also burns up the wood i believe a little (as the glass tube that came with it became yellowish after the first few hits in addition to the metal screen becoming burnt (a little more just about every time i use it). So essentially what this is in my opinion, is a glamorized metal pipe, in which you will burn up the metal bits and consume horrible aluminum and wood particles you should never be inhaling.
Some people may think this is all due to user-error, but i really can't see it. Unless you are supposed to simply take that first hit and then discard the rest of the weed... but the problem with that is it is not fully browned or vaped yet. so to get the entirety (or even just the majority) of the thc burned, u need to burn up metal, plastic or wood particles to accompany your *carcinogen-free-smoke*. this is a fallacy. its really disappointing as someone with health concerns that finding a way to vaporize and actually have it be healthier is seemingly a lie.
so now i have 2 useless smoking devices valued over a hundred dollars. awesome. -_-
I typically smoke out of a glass pipe. That is probably the most harsh way to ingest cannabis, yet, i NEVER get these breathing problems from smoking that way. (and i smoke at least 3-4 times a day). I just did some googling and found a supposed ALL-GLASS-VAPE with no metal or plastic (or wood) to burn up in the process. that seems like what i need!! unfortunately its stationary. heh. i may consider picking it up anyway : http://www.vapolutionvaporizers.com/vaporizerfaq.html
anyways, has anyone experienced breathing problems FROM vaping like me? I know it sounds insane but this has been 2 separate vaporizers now that do this to me. If its not the heating element, the wood, the plastic, or the metal screens causing me problems, i really dont know what it could be. maybe the vapor itself just coats my lungs and causes breathing problems? i have no idea. it sucks though.
at a local cannabis club they offer this thc "mist" now. i dont know how well it works but apparently its like a mouth spray type of consumption and completely free of smoke/carcinogens. i suppose this is what ill try next but i hate so much that vaporizing has failed me and i have to continue smoking with declining health. heh
thanks for any ideas
