FROLIC by Limelight Herb

Frolic has landed! First impressions below.

The build appears really solid. Feels good in the hand and has some nice heft to it. I didn't notice much of any robot fart smells before or after burnoff. Airflow controls are pretty easy but as mentioned before you do sometimes have to hold the mouthpiece so they don't rotate in tandem when you're adjusting it. I left it wide open initially and it felt super airy.

My first go I loaded just enough flower to cover the bottom screen and tried on-demand mode at 400F. Only took about 5sec from cold to buzz. I took a nice long draw and only got wispy vapor. Taste seemed a bit thin. I tried a couple more pulls and got more vapor but everything felt a bit too airy. I looked at the bowl and it was already spent. A very nice toasty brown.

I decided to make a couple of adjustments so I loaded another very small bowl with flower just covering the screen. I closed off the airflow about 25% and cranked the heater up to 440F. Huge improvement in vapor production and taste! Very very TB2-like type hit with big clouds and big taste. There's no lack of power in the heater. I had forgotten this thing can get up to 464F in on-demand mode but I will say that hits I got at 440F were impressive. Speed is also there as the bowl was cashed in two hits and subsequent heat-ups were 2s or less.

I have a lot more experimenting to do but initial futzing around is looking promising! I had charged my battery fully before vaping and the meter hasn't moved after these two bowls.

And finally capsules! The AVLP gold plated capsules that I hold in high regard actually almost fit perfectly! These last two shots show that they're just a bit too high (CU is almost flush) but seem a better fit than the S&B ones from the pics here on the forum. I will definitely be trying a session mode with these guys soon.

Have a look at my impressions above. Try reducing your airflow a bit and raise your temps in on-demand mode to at least 228C.

Edit: I forgot to mention one slight negative. In the couple of back-to-back bowls I tried on-demand, the unit does get close to being too hot to handle at the very top of the CU, near the Limelight logo mostly. I don't think it'll be an issue for me but this thing does put out some serious heat.
Makes me want to modify the CU and get a few of those caps, when mine arrives 😂

knowing my favorite caps work has it on the radar now,, not such a fan of the industrial aesthetic though

uses a 21700 right? anxious to here about the battery life. p28a gave me 4-6 bowls form a charge in tm2 (never let it get too low.)
after market stem/mp possible?

How consistent are these devices in terms of temperature? If I’m vaping the Frolic at 365f on-demand or session, will someone else device give the same result? This goes for the TM2 and Convex, as these devices are most similar. What degree of variability is there really? Coils may be slightly different, batteries etc. are we talking + or - 5 degrees f or more or less?

Also, as a coil/heater ages, how does that affect temperature/vapor production/battery life or does it stay the same?

I think the heater is kinda like the one in the tm2 and I haven't had an issue with it, this one just might be stronger tho, someone smarter than me might have a better answer

Just got Mine and it's fantastic. It feels like a brick and the heater is amazing. Not gonna go into details about the amazingness of it as people have already said what I would want to say.

There are 2 small gripes so far for me. Because you're sucking upwards through the bowl the herb often unseats itself and upon opening it gets everywhere because it sticks to the screen. I'm also getting a scorch ring at higher temperatures in the middle of the bowl similar to the tm2, super even but a clear hotspot so if that matters to you, stirring might be needed at hot temps.

But man is this thing good....

Full disclosure, I just had a hard time getting a cap out after letting the device cool before popping it out. I usually pop them out warm because it's not sticky and usually easier but I forgot to this time. No clearance to get it easily without a pick tool if that happens.

For what it's worth, the session mode was nice and predictable with the caps. Super quick heat up to 350F (2s) and it was a long and tasty 5min session. Even roast at the end.

Yep. 21700 Molicel P50B. Not enough bowls with it yet but looks like it'll do better than 4-6 bowls from what I'm seeing so far.

I'm so in love with this vape. I find myself wanting to share it with strangers. I went to a sesh the other night and had to resist the urge to pull it out and share it with the girl holding the bucket of nugs.

I posted a Frolic vs Tinymight 2 in-depth comparison on my site with a full video (too raunchy for youtube)

Has anyone removed the o-ring from the bowl? i want to lube mine better so the cooling unit comes off easier.

Abysmal Vapor

Supersniffer 2000 - robot fart detection device
Thinking of giving the Frolic a try ,but i have a couple of questions .
So if you plug the intake hole of the Frolic ,does airflow stops ? Has someone make a blow test to see if air is not comming from ports ?
Does it bake your herb like the venty when not inhaling ? Does vapor productions continues after you have stopped pressing the button/switched off session mode ? With Venty you can take at least 2 more hits after it is shutoff.

An o-ring removal tool is provided in the bag with the brush. Use this to remove the o-ring and then coat it in food grade silicone grease. It makes a huge difference!

Now I’ve had some more time with the Frolic I can safely say that this thing is very likely to replace my TB2.

I took Tigoles advice and closed the air flow a bit, cranked up the temp and holy testicle Tuesday!

Removing the CU is a bit of a pain as I can’t seem to do this without the spent herb going everywhere. Just purchased some silicone grease as others have suggested so hoping this fixes that issue.

I’m so excited to hear more about how others use this beast of a device and dial it in. So glad I jumped on this vape early as it’s superb.

Is the air path isolated?

Can anyone check?
I would also like to know this…

Also, for those testing battery, please specify if you’re in session or on-demand and the temp, as well as approximately number of draws if in on-demand mode and time if in session mode.

You can also use coconut oil (it’s like a grease) and would be safe, as well as other food oils. 7th Floor vapes used to send coco oil for their sidekick vaporizer stems

Took your advice and WOW. This thing is insane.

I agree it does get quite hot around that area of the CU and you can feel it when trying to remove. I hope the silicone grease will make it easier to remove the CU, thereby eliminating the need to keep your hand on it for so long.

Frolic landed today (UK). Great feel and design but disappointed with my first bowl. No real vapour production but cooked the bowl fully.

I’ve only been able to have the one bowl so far and I used the standard mouthpiece with the airflow wide open. On demand mode. Cleared in 3 big slow draws. First hit at 190°c then the second and third at 210°. The flavour was there and there was visible vapour but I was expecting big clouds like my TB2 produces and it was a little underwhelming.

Need to keep playing around with temps and airflow etc. Also wanna try the fold out mouthpiece and session mode.
If you are using lower temperatures I'd recommend only using session mode as it works much better. Demand mode is really designed for open airflow, high temps (it goes all the way up to 240°C), and additional cooling like bubblers.

I used mine in session mode initially with great results stepping from 180°C to 210°C. Very good vapour production. Similar, maybe slightly better, than the Venty.

I them some to one of the guys behind the Frolic (not Dejan) and he explained demand mode. I dug out my old bubbler and set the temp to 240°C and wow! Massive thick clouds and was spent within 2 pulls.

I did try my normal routine, starting at 180°C and stepping up to 210°C in demand mode, and it didn't work as well, as the device will cool down between pulls.

Now I understand the real potential of the Frolic.

Such an awesome device, it has replaced my Venty. It's simply out performed every other DHV I have used in every way.

Thanks for the tips!

What I am beginning to find with this device is that it actually might be the first vape I have used that provides a true session and on-demand mode.

Session mode on lower temps with the airflow closed about half way allows me to sit and sip for the full 500s with very tasty and fluffy clouds.

On-demand allows me to open the airflow all the way up, crank up the temp to around 220ºC and take huge lung busting rips, clearing the bowl in 1-2 hits depending on how dark I wanna go.

Did I mention that I am head over heels in love with this god damn beauty of a vape!!

Battery life comments - remember so far I have only used session mode. I charge the battery in an external charger. My sessions are 180° for 100 seconds, then step up to 200° for 100 seconds and then up to 220° for final 100 seconds. I have been finding I get about 5 full sessions from it before the battery is down to the bottom level. I have never used it until it fully died yet because it’s a ballache if that happens halfway through a bowl, but I might test this once I have another battery spare. I think you could expect an extra session or two out of it if you’re at lower temps and maybe one less if you’re permanently at 220. The battery is easily removable is the key thing here though, so if I need more than 5 sessions out of it I can just bring a spare… so, given the power and speed of the heater I’m pretty happy

What about the airpath?

Is it isolated?

Did you try to close the airholes and draw to see if it leaks somewhere?

Speaking of spare batteries, are there any other trusted comparable batteries out there? I’m in the US and really want to order a couple spare batteries. I need a few 18650 anyways, but none of my trusted suppliers have the Molicel P50B in stock.
