Friend asking Advice on a Setup

My friend is looking to buy a vaporizer.
1) High temperatures for hash.
2) Very user friendly. Press a few buttons and ur good. Big bowl would be nice.
3) 200-300$

Doesn't have to be efficient or portable, and taste doesn't have to be spectacular.

Thanks for the help.

Nano.

  • Gets hot as fuck.
  • No buttons, just one analog dial.
  • New "ba adjust-a-bowl" stems/gongs allow for larger or smaller loads depending on preference.
  • $200 and theres a 10% off FC discount.

I went back and forth on the Nano, but theres a bit of technique involved. This guy needs something more like that plug in from vaporblunt that was supposed to come out (the baker). Except I've been hearing bad customer service feedback from the PNP thread. Not sure what to do.

technique
Technique? Are we blowing bubbles?

EDIT:
I 2nd the Nano. I wouldn't wait for the Baker. I personally think the Hammer is a very good heavy hitter and quick extractor, I've recently discovered conduction is possible in the Hammer so I am expecting conduction/convection vaping with it in the future. I don't see how it couldn't do hash, but if the Nano has a technique than the Hammer's instruction manual may not be interesting.

I mean like drawing, stirring, ect. I haven't ruled out the e-nano completely. Just looking at other suggestions before pulling the trigger. The guy is a complete amateur, and looking for something more user friendly. Something anyone with little previous knowledge about vaporization can operate and operate well.

Based on your criteria looks like the SSV or DBV would be ideal (flavor not the best and efficiency not the greatest). But high heat, simple, and reliable

Stirring is a myth.

EDIT:
In my opinion log types are great for beginners, they are easily capable of satisfying most users which is an immediate turn on.
Using stems are clean, simple and allow easy reclaim, or maintenance.
They are capable of running for long times if the user forgets to unplug, still heats up quick, don't have many extra parts.

Are they easier to use than the vaporbrothers vaporizer? I don't know why I always thought they were pretty much the same. Please educate me on how they are diff.

Same principle, the SSV and DBV just take the box vaporizer design to the next level

I do believe my UnderDog has to be one of the simplest vapes to use that I own(more then 2 dozen vapes strong).

All you do is pack the stem then stick it on and draw through it, Fast and hard if you want a giant hit or you can take it slow and easy to sit back and do a sipping session. A wand style vape like the DBV and SSV takes a lot more work and In my experience will intimidate a new user more often then a log.

Logs are pure simplicity, If you can't figure out how to hit a simple glass stem on an underdog I doubt if you can walk, talk and suck air at the same time.

Ive never used a log before so I speak only out of observation, not experience. Where does the LSV fall in terms of difficulty to operate?

Thanks again for all the replies.

LSV is pretty easy to use. Use with the wand is basically the same as the SSv/DBV/other whip vapes. However, the LSV really shines when you combine it with a WPA and a bong. The WPA is much easier to stir and clean than a wand.

If you want something truly idiot proof, I'd look at an EQ. Temperature controlled and the cyclone bowl means you don't have to stir. Also has the option to blow bags.

For arguments sake. Does the nano hit smoother through a bong than the eq through a bong? Guy has weak lungs after being a heavy smoker for 10 yrs. Just recently got him to quit using ejuice.
Also does the eq work well for hash?

I would think the EQ to be smoother because the nano hits harder. But I wouldnt choose the EQ its more maintenance and less user friendly. Logs have little to no draw resistance.
If it was for me i'd go with the nano without giving it a second thought, but how is the eq less user friendly?

And log would be easier/less cumbersome to pair with water pipe. I have seen people put the EQ on top of a pipe before and it looked pretty weird since the EQ is so big. Another option is using a whip but I would think a small log and a water pipe would be alot more user friendly. Also consider the arizer solo since even around the house its really nice to be cordless. If he smokes alot it might not be ideal but if he smokes here and there it will be fine (around 7 sessions on 1 charge)

Picture him using a log or solo like this:

tt06HuM.jpg

Very good form factor easy to just kick back and get smooth hits

EDIT:
Oh yeah and you can get the above setup for around 200 ($130 for the solo, $30 for the GonG through planet vap, $30 for the bubbler through dhgate)

Only part im not sure about is hash, I know people do it but not sure how well it works? Inverted like above you wouldnt have to worry about it going into the heater

He smokes several joints a day and anyway solo can't get to the high temperatures for hash. I don't know. I'll just educate him about both the nano and eq, then let him decide. I hope he chooses the nano.
What is it about the eq people dislike?

I second the SSV and your assessment, except the flavor, :), my SSV taste wonderful, especially on low heat.

I'm pretty sure the SSV uses a 60W heater vs the nano's 30W, so it has a bit more umph on the top end if it would ever be needed. Fully cranked I can vape the resin off my screens. And the bowl size is enormous in comparison to the nano, as you state the SSV can be very inefficient for just one person.

And log would be easier/less cumbersome to pair with water pipe.

I have also found this true. A log is so simple and so less cumbersome. The reason I rarely use my Solo in the house, my nano goes with me to every room.

What is it about the eq people dislike?

For me it was the EQ was very unefficient, it took so much to fill the cyclone, a dome pack would burn in the middle and could not be stirred. The air path goes through electronics and is restricted because it has to travel through so much, like the fan. It took forever for the EQ to preheat and there are so many glass bits to break or burn you. And losing the remote really sucks.

In comparison, the SSV gets warm in < 5 minutes and the only part that needs to get hot is the heater cover. The wand can get warm, but not Cyclone bowl hot. The SSV along with log vapes can be left on 24/7 for instant sessions. And the clouds produced by logs and the SSV/DBV/LSV are very dense compared to the EQ.

Logs are just two items, stem and heater. The EQ has a bowl to attach on the device, multiple options that arent too exceptional in one category. The temperature in my opinion is off, its not vaping the herb at 400 its probably a bit under. Its clunky.

I've had the EQ I enjoyed it but it cant deliver as well my UD with the same amount of material. Its also not as easy as grabbing a pop can and putting a straw on it.

I disliked the poor bag system, bags were nice but the competitors have valves for reasons, I found my UD could actually make me cough. Also takes too long for extraction.

You can turn the power up or down on the nano in ~0.1 increments on a dial that does from 1 to 10. Needless to say you can adjust for flavor/smoothness or full on cloud production.

I highly(:smug:) suggest the Enano. Caligula pretty much said everything you need to know. It works so smoothly with hash. Your friend wanted a large bowl which unfortunately isn't a plus for enano but on the other hand how difficult is it to dump out a bowl and reload it?
Also would like to add the lsv wouldn't be a bad choice probably a great one. The bowl is larger and you can milk glass pretty much the same as smoking, without all the shit that comes with ;)

I would beg to differ on the Solo. I've used it like the above picture with hash no problem (different water tool, but very similar setup).

Is there some science to back up the thought that hash needs higher temperature? I'm genuinely curious, as I only have a year and a half of medicating behind me. It just doesn't make sense to me, especially since I routinely have a very nice hash sandwich in my Solo.

The EQ also has a variable temp, but its smoother because its airier, even when loaded with more herb set at the "same" temp the EQ will deliver an airier hit and have your herb not as extracted as what the Nano probably would have done. This is just my personal experience, the EQ with .2g of herb won't make me cough where in comparison to the UD I may. But the pull is most likely smoother with the Nano.
