Forum Software Update 1.4

The latest version of our forum software brings a number of new features with it. Selective quoting should greatly improve usability when replying to specific parts of posts -- which in and of itself can improve the quality of a discussion. Poll improvements, a post-centric online status indicator, and some new ways to interact with profile posts have been added as well. On the moderation side there is now the ability to implement bans on a per-thread basis, providing another tool to help keep discussions productive and civil.

The upgrade should take less than 20 minutes, during which time the forum will be unavailable, and your patience is appreciated. Some features may not be immediately available after the upgrade, but you are welcome to test them out in this thread when they are.

On a personal note, I'm looking forward to spending more time here in the near future, so you'll have another mod to get on your case. I miss you guys.

I'm not sure how difficult it would be to implement, but might I suggest a gallery for each thread?

Similar to how overclock.net does it: all the pictures contained within a thread can be viewed in a gallery.
It's much easier for the user than having to go through 300+ pages to find pictures.

Everything else about FC's forum is far superior to any other forum I frequent. This feature would just put it over the top.

That's a cool idea for sure. The Xenforo developers may consider it if you post it in their suggestion forum.

Very grateful for the message board, I've learned a lot here. On the risk of being that guy, I noticed after the update that there is now an "online now" flag on avatars. Is there a way to individually disable this?

Short story long, I am a criminal as I recreationally consume marijuana. This makes me paranoid. It was hard enough for me to register at this site, let alone post pictures. Now I'm like "fuck, what if..?"

Sorry is this way out in left field.. just illegally smoked a strong Sativa and wanted to check your boards for any new products/techniques/etc.. then I saw the man watching me in the corner.

Understood, but less is better for me. I don't feel that it is wise to volunteer too much information.

There is!

Go to your privacy preferences, uncheck "Show your online status" and click the "Save Changes" button.

Mouse over your name in the top left corner and uncheck "Show online status" in the drop down menu.

Just saw that for me too, but my name still shows as properly greyed out in the members list on the front page. I'm guessing the online flag only shows for your own account, since I'm not seeing it on your avatar right now.

But I didn't post a helpful screenshot.

With the new online status indicator there is an additional privacy setting to consider, but unchecking the box shown in your screenshot will disable both.

I caught the latest version just in time. Appreciate the offer of help, I know you have an impressive body of work. For better or worse though I like to keep this place as close to stock as possible. This update allowed us to remove a couple addons.
