Apparently selling the Pro for $70 + $25 shipping and take paypal but they seem kinda shady?
Why do you think they're shady, mr_shady? They provide a physical street address and even include pics. They have a slide show on the home page. Nobody sets up a site like that just to rip off a few people.

Personally, I'd pay more and buy from puffitup.com. Sending a unit to China for warranty svc. doesn't make financial sense if you're in the US, but it may be a good option for you. I wouldn't worry about actually getting the unit, if that's your concern.

Just got my v5.0s from PIU and I'm charging it at the moment. I'll do some burn offs and have it ready for tonight.

It will be my first time vaping so I'm super stoked about it!!

I understand that the air path in the flowermates are not completely pure, but would it still be better health-wise compared to combustion??

Absolutely. Concerns about airpaths generally are about taste, where the vaporize/combustion issue is about nasty chemicals and waste of herb.

I'm not sure where the 'not completely pure' concern comes in. It's all ceramic, stainless steel and glass for the most part. Two very small seals made from what seems to be appropriate silicone rubber. No plastics and other materials of general concern.

Full health benefits and cost savings should be yours, enjoy the fruits of your purchase decision?

You're very welcome. Oh, and welcome to the forum. Glad to help out when I can, lots of good folks like that around here.

"Enjoy it in good health"!

Best wishes for a longer, healthier life. That blazing stuff can kill a guy you know? Vaping saves a lot of money in herb (enough to buy more vapes....) and gives you longer to enjoy it. Pretty cool.

@OF: actually it's a nickel alloy for the bottom screen and mouthpiece base (that detail matters for nickel-intolerant people). And there is a polyimide insulation tape around the heater, which has some glue on it and is responsible for the bad smell when the device is new.

The rest is fine. They could have isolated the air intake from the electronics better, but one of their OEM clients had the idea first and got the exclusivity, meaning they can't backport it to the standard FM range.

On my 3rd cycle of burning the smell off.........I'm not sure how many more I have to do to get rid of the electronic smell.

Funny you should mention that, I was just enjoying mine and wondering about the finish on the threaded end of the stem and mating piece. It doesn't seem 'right' for SS somehow?

As for Nickle sensitivity, my understanding is it's a skin contact issue with jewelery and the like, not casual contact with say pocket change? Otherwise it doesn't evaporate or otherwise migrate?
http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/nickel-allergy/basics/definition/con-20027616

Just to be sure, perhaps it's a good plan to not include the FM in body piercings?

Still, the 'vapor path' is inert metal (by conventional definitions), ceramics and glass. Not the materials usually of concern. Certainly nothing at all like the risks from combustion?

Thanks.

Edit: I meant to mention that Nickle is also a very common element in Stainless Steel, so it can't be avoided that way either. It might be an issue for some, but I sure never heard of it.

I'll keep going at it. I'm blowing air in thru the mouth piece, hopefully that will help!
Does it matter if I do burn offs with the mouthpiece off? Is there anything on the mouthpiece that needs to burn off?

Hard to say, I think. You could try what I did, a couple at first stem on standing upright (so the rising heat will heat the metal top of the chamber) for 'good measure' then took the stem off for better air flow on following burn offs.

FWIW I managed to convince myself that most of the smell I could detect (subjective, others are no doubt more sensitive) was coming up through the vents in the side, not up through the chamber. In use, with the bottom door open I think basically all the air enters up the tube and through the slot in the seal and into the bowl, very little if any input air should come from the area the smells were?

IMO this is definitely an area where your circumstances dominate, the experiences of others is at best a rough guide. Smells you or I don't notice might send the next guy into Anaphylactic shock. As Mae West said, "you pays your money and takes your choice". FWIW my 'standard' is to burn off 'half again' past where I can smell. That is if it takes say 4 burn offs to clear the smell, I do two more. If it took 10, I'll do an additional 5. I also think many times the smell 'ends' very quickly, but others it just gets weaker and weaker and weaker. Anyone else notice that? All robots are not equal when it comes to flatulence it seems...........sorta like people?

I also think in many/most cases using it to vape quickly seals the surfaces, much like paint?

This didn't help me at all with my V5.0s surprisingly. Air being pulled through is what seemed to draw out the smell.

you can blow through the bottom hole if you keep the air vents on the sides closed, that's what I did a few days ago, just blow through it every possible way

The website seems kind of generic, I googled the picture their business premises http://jolingtech.com/about.aspx which comes up with several companies with similar websites although I guess is could just be the same people or there are several company's that make similar products that operate out of the same building. They also don't have a alibaba or any history when googled and sell them cheaper that the guys that make them.

I would just go with puffitup as has been suggested but I get absolutely slaughtered with shipping plus the warranty is useless to me anyway.

In another situation those would be good investigative points, but we just don't see fake on-line dealers. We see some bad ones occasionally- half assed as far as service, etc., but as far as taking your money and running, it's just not a concern. I think they would quickly lose all access to bank card payments, making the theft potential too low compared to the effort of setting up a site.

This site seems to be set up like alibaba, where you have to submit a contact form in order to buy. If it's your best price I wouldn't worry about it.
Is there anything on the mouthpiece that needs to burn off?
No there isn't. It would have to be something that got on the mp accidentally, and if it took heat to release it, you wouldn't get enough heat on the mp during use to do so anyway. And in the same respect, if there was something there that needed a burn off, it wouldn't do any good to leave it attached, since the temp reaching the mouthpiece, even at max temp, wouldn't be high enough to burn anything off.

That could be what happened to mine if it works like that. After a full charge I just loaded up the chamber without any prep and had a very nice herb flavored first vape. It took me a few weeks to figure out how to stop the mp from clogging up with cotton. This was such an easy hack it should be in the owners manual, all it took was a q-tip and a paperclip to stir.

So a week or two back, just after getting my Mini, I posted asking folks if anyone knew if this adapter:
http://www.puffitup.com/Flowermate-Universal-Adapter-p/fm09.htm

works with the Mini. I was hoping someone had it and a Mini and could answer, but alas it was not to be. So I ordered one and it just got here. The answer is a qualified yes! More over, I think it's possibly a very neat and useful adapter past FM use.

There's a threaded cap on the bowl end that retains the fine hole plate that normally sits higher up on the Mini stem. That is on the Mini the plate with five big holes comes first in the airpath, with this adapter it's the finer one first?? Anyway removing the cap and plate lets the adapter fit just fine (the treads are the same, I suspect the Mini stem fits the other FMs just fine?

On the Mini, I think poking some cotton in the well left open by removing the cap will cover for the removal.

However, if you look at the third photo on the PIU site you'll see the adapter part unthreaded from the center section (which is upside down in the photo....). It normally threads onto the hidden (smaller, coarser threads) on the center section as you see in the first photo, fitting 'both sizes' of GonGs. However, it's also got female adapters on the inside. You screw it on 'open end up' and you can mate up to male 14 or 18mm GonGs on your WT instead of needing a female....or an adapter.

Which gets to the fun part, that upper piece makes a 'universal adapter' of sorts. Able to adapt either size female GonGs to either size male for instance. And so on. IMO someone should make the same thing in glass (without the threads of course)?

Good solution, although I find that the mp screen doesn't really clog up enough to affect vapor flow as long as you give it a quick ISO clean occasionally while in place. Actually taking it out to clean isn't necessary very often if you can swab it off after a few bowls. And I always brush off the screen after every bowl. I also use a standard stainless steel screen in the mp instead of the fine mesh screen that FM supplies, and that makes a BIG difference in keeping the mp screen unclogged.
