Got my Nano today ,,,still playing around with temps, packing and grinds. So far I'm pretty impressed. Great flavor, good hits, lightweight and compact. Love the removable 18650 battery since I already have a bunch for my e-juice mods. No more getting stuck with a dead battery, plus it has a pass through charger, so you can hit it while charging on the computer, or in the car. It looks a lot like my box mod, so I doubt anyone will notice the difference. Simple to use, low maintenance, no bells or whistles, no light shows or Simon says games, no mobile phone apps, just a nice vape at a pretty good price. Plus I got a free four piece grinder, a vacuum stash container and the battery was included, which is rare.

How's airflow? Draw resistance?

its 4:20 somewhere.....
How's airflow? Draw resistance?
I think the airflow is pretty good, naturally there is restriction, but not too bad. It took a little bit to get used to, since my e-juice mod and my bubbler have no drag at all. Long, slow pulls seem to work the best for me. P.S-----> my bad ,,,the charger is not pass through, the device shuts off when you plug it in.....Also I thought it was a battery killer, but my batteries are pretty beat up and don't hold a charge too well. The battery supplied with the unit did much better.

My review of the Nano by Flowermate, thanks again to @lacentralevapeur to send me a unit for testing/review purpose !

The unit comes with the classic cleaning/packing tools, replacement screens, pouch, usb cord and 2 pods, one for dry herbs and another for concentrates (still the same pods filled with cotton we already got with a lot of vapes). The included battery is rebranded by Flowermate so I don’t know exactly what 18650 brand it is but it’s 2500mah… It might be nice to add a second glass mp in case...

Building quality…. There is a aluminium body but top, bottom and button side is plastic. Mouthpiece is made from glass but use a « plastic » connector threaded on the bowl’s top, this connector is annoying, I would prefer to get a metal connector using a oring to get the glass to fit in.

Bottom lid open to show two rooms, one to fit the mp while not in use (with a spring in the bottom so the mp is protubering when you open the lid for easier handling) and another with a second lid (metal) to fit the battery, maybe not the easier battery lid to open/close but still functionnal. The plastic bottom lid doesn’t seems very durable if I compare to the Novae, Starry or Fog battery lid.

Buttons are a little finicky and doesn’t seems very durable. There is no user feedback clic to know if you pressed the button down right or not. Except that works well.

Bowl size is classic and very similar to the X-Max V2 Pro, Odin or Focus, bigger difference is the black ceramic in opposition to the white one used in most/all vaporizers (using ceramic bowls). There is screens to fit the bowl but I use mine without screens for now.

The storage compartment for the mouthpiece is a smart idea (already seen with the Odin) to carry on the go and add some stealthness to the vape while not in use. Forgotten to mention there is a plastic bowl lid to close it when the mp is stored.

Now about the vaping performances, manufacturer claims the Nano to be an hybrid (convection+conduction) vape… but after a classic 20-40s heating time (it depends the t°) you can feel from the first hit this unit is defenitively a conduction based vaporizers if I judge from the inhalation duration, taste and abv color.

I use mine at 190-200°C for the first 5mn cycle (forgotten to mention you power it on with 5 clics, select t° and power the heater on with a 3s press to start a 5mn cycle). This setting give already very dense vapor and load is already quasi-spent after the first cycle but I power the heater again after to set t° at 210°C and continue to vape 2-3mn until the vapor start to get a bad taste and stop. Abv comes out blackened on the center load and slightly less on the bottom and top of the load.

I don’t get a probe but I think the Nano’s t° are underestimated by 5-10°c at least…

Personnaly I don’t like a lot the taste out of this device, a sort of smokey feeling, nothing huge and maybe avoided using lower t°. No huge initial factory taste and didn’t saw any fumes after a short burn off at 210°C. It’s a great contender for big water filtered hits and vapes very well concentrates but I only used kief/shatter wrapped in coton at 210°-220°C.

Mouthpiece might be hot, too hot for my liking so I added a thin and short piece of silicon tubing to keep my lips away of the heat.

Battery life is pretty good and you can expect at least 8-9 cycles and maybe 11-12, charges pretty quick under 2 hours.

For the asked price it’s a very decent unit but more with strong hits in mind than flavors and some nice features to use it on the go ( concealeable mp and replacable battery).

Sorry but I didn't took any pic....

edit: Forgotten to mention it works very well with moist ungrounded flowers!

“Convection preheating technology” AKA conduction.

It's full conduction with a little help from secondary heating to a convection spiral below the heater. But it charts like a stronger conduction vape with less of a drop during the hit, a lot like the CF/CFX

I think Sticks called it right. BM, while a bit cynical (not that I'd know anything about that......), is right as well. Sales types love to work the magic word 'convection' in when they can.

That said, I think the preheating of the air could be a plus (provided it's implemented right) in that the preheated air comes in warm, not cold as normally......meaning it robs less of the heat (delivered by conduction) that would otherwise make thicker vapor. That is I don't think it makes any vapor (which is a fixed rate dependent on how fast conduction can bring heat to the load) but it does lessen the heat wasted heating incoming air so the vapor is more dense on harder hits.

No advantage for us sippers, but the cloud chasers have reason to favor it?

I just came on this guy (PIU sales email, will those guys ever tire of getting my money?). I'd bet I have one before the 4th of July.......

Regards to all.

I used a Flowermate V5.0S (old version) for the last 3 years.
I always go with the second of the 3 fixed temperature settings which is 205C (401F)
Every day it gets me baked as hell with only a very little amount of herbs.
I got a very good taste and also good vapor clouds for 3 years.

So i thought it would be time to upgrade to a Flowermate V5.0S PRO because it got a few improvements such as the isolated air path and better air flow and lcd display with exact temperature settings and so on.
Should be the same experience since the device is basically the same, right?
Wrong.
On the same temperature setting and with the same amount of herbs i dont get any near to the experience the old flowermate got for me.
The PRO version only produces very light vapor clouds not near to the clouds my old device gave me.
There is nearly no taste of the herb.
Even when i set the PRO version to max 230C (446F) its not nearly as good as the old one.
You can feel by touching the device it is not getting as hot as the old one and you dont get as half as baked from the same amount of herb.
It is like wasting your herb.

Because i thought the device must be damaged i send it back 2 times now.
Got the third device here now and they all act the same.
Somehow the quality of the flowermate vaporizers decreased dramatically from version one till the one today.
I wish i could still buy a device of the generation one somewhere.

Did you experience the same with flowermate vaporizers when changing from an old version to an up to date version?
What are your opinions?

I would wait for the SB quantum with extreme precision laser heating element and borosilicate chamber, it will came out on 4/20 2020 the reclaim from the anti nonstick non gunk vaporpath will automatically flows into container which is hidden under the unit :D;):brow:
P.S it will have a body made from ceramic zirconia + adamantium and it will be ready within split second, just as you regulate the temp, it will be ready :argh::razz:
+ self cleaning storage units which will replace the caps :nope::drool::clap::nod::peace:

I'm really surprised you got multiple units like that. Both my production and pre-production units cooked the shit out of everything I put in it. Some of the most cooked bowls I've gotten in a while...

Good observation. The chances of 3 lame units is 'a universe' of consistent good results is pretty small....... Normally technique or strain would be suspect, but I doubt that here.

Perhaps the first unit was hotter than normal??? That is expectations might be what's really different?

FWIW, mine too give no complaints.

Bummer for the OP, but IMO you should own/use vapes you enjoy...... If you prefer the older version, the answer seems simple from here. For any reason, or no reason at all.

I prefer my FM5-Pro over my FM5-S. But maybe it's slightly less of a cloud producer. Hard to tell because my main appeal is that I can start the session at a lower temperature than the 5-S, and I expect to see less vapor down there so...

Anyway this is the FM5-Nano thread! Mine arrived but has been sitting dismantled for over a month now. I wanted to publish my tear-down but Randy PUI beat me to it so there's little point doing it now. At least it bought me some peace of mind, as there is no evil PTFE nor stinky selastic gunk in there this time! (wink at the other unit released from the Smiss factory recently which was recalled twice)

Thought I would add my own, very subjective, thoughts to this thread.

My main point of reference for this review is the Storm (with the upgraded free-flowing glass mouthpiece), which I used for about two years.
vixZ6y6.png

The Storm is an excellent vape at an amazing price. The only real downsides to it for me are the form factor (not pocket-friendly) and the way the rubber mouthpiece push-fits into the body of the vape.

IMO the V5 Nano is a good budget vape. It's the ideal size and form factor for me (fits in your hand), although the way the mouthpiece is removed and stowed in the body is not to my personal preference.
RHRKuHw.png

There is just about enough airflow for my taste - I hate the asthmatic feel I get from too much draw resistance (like from the Fog or the version of the Storm with the black mouthpiece). As already mentioned, my previous vape was a Storm which had really terrific airflow. Some users have reported that the glass mouthpiece gets too hot; this isn't an issue to me though. It certainly gets warm but not too hot for comfort.

I like the high resolution LED display although it's a tad bright. Being able to see the exact temperature is a feature I like a lot.

Dialling in the temperature is simple and the chamber heats up nice and quickly. I set it to 200C for most of the time but if the herb is dry (like from the bottom of the bag) it can start to smoke - so I dial it down to 190C.

After a 10 minute session, you have to blow bits of vaped bud from the mouthpiece screen while the vape is still warm otherwise the bits get stuck and interfere with airflow on the next session. But that's the only cleaning you need to do before the next session.

The black ceramic chamber is great. The Storm had a white ceramic chamber which got dirty very quickly and was hard to clean. But that dirt didn't build up much; it just looked a bit messy. The chamber on the Nano, seems to actually repel gunk. It's not just that the blackness of the chamber makes the crud less visible, it just doesn't get as dirty. I only cleaned the chamber for the first time after about three months of daily use. Overall a stainless steel chamber may be better from a cleaning point of view, but the black ceramic is absolutely good enough for me.

Battery life is fine - I get about 30 minutes use out of a two-year-old heavily-used Samsung 18650. Haven't tried it with a new battery.

The plastic flap on the base (to access the stored mouthpiece and battery) is a little fiddly to open/close and seems rather breakable. In fact the catch on mine has broken (more on this later). The metal battery cover has a flimsy feel that does not bode well. And if you accidentally close the battery cover without a battery in there (something I've done once or twice) it feels like the cover might break. That said, the battery cover has not, in fact, broken.

Cleaning the mouthpiece assembly is OK and is something I do about once a week (I generally vape for 3 ten minute sessions minutes per day). It's comprised of a glass mouthpiece, plastic (I think) base (into which the glass mouthpiece pushes), a stainless steel screen, rubber retaining ring (keeps the screen from falling out) and two tiny silicone grommets (to help the glass mouthpiece form a seal with the base). All this comes apart easily except for the two tiny silicone grommets. Just dump everything in a bowl of isopropyl alcohol, swill it around for a few minutes then give all the parts a wipe down. My only real reservation about this is that the iso will eventually rot the rubber and silicone - and these are not available as spare parts. But a new mouthpiece only costs ~ £12.

I mentioned that the catch broke on the bottom flap/cover. I reported this directly to Flowermate and I regret that I have found their customer support to be lacking. I logged the fault then had to wait nearly two weeks for a reply. I was asked to provide more information which I duly did the following day. Nearly another two weeks have passed and I have yet to receive a reply to say that a warranty repair has been approved or not. So nearly a month since my initial report and I am no further forward. This could well deter me from purchasing another vape from Flowermate.

So, as far as the product is concerned, I have to say that, overall, I'm pretty happy. The thing which I liked least about the Storm was its form factor; pretty much everything else about it was great. The Nano is nearly as good BUT the form factor means that I use the Nano almost exclusively.

Shame about the customer support.

Still looking for the perfect vape. The Davinci Miqro looks interesting . . .

Incidentally, I wish that vape makers would make a point of offering cases with their devices. The Nano came with a pouch, but this offers no protection at all. This case is a bit tight, but it does just about fit:

very interesting; great review! it seems there is a new version of the Nano. Could you tell me the meassurements of two MPs please?? I just pursached a Nano today in vaposhop and I'd like to know if they send me the old version or the new one

PS I had a storm too, no problems with that, i think the storm is a great vaporizer for the price, but I hope bigger clouds from the Nano :)

The length of the glass tube, removed from the rest of the mouthpiece, was 29mm on my original Nano and 34mm on the new one. I have no reason to think that anything else has changed on the device.
And, although there might be some tiny improvement in the cooling of the vapour, the device (with the longer mouthpiece) now barely fits in its bag. So whichever MP you get, I wouldn't worry about it :-)

I would be interested in your opinion of the vape, especially as you have also used a Storm. Did you have the V2 with the improved airflow? I didn't like the original MP as the airflow was too restrictive for me but the V2 was much more open.

Lot of thanks for the information! :)

Yes, I had the glass MP in the storm; but it is corious, I preferred the original one. I have no problems with draw resistance; however I preferred the form factor in the silicon version. I have to say that I always used the Storm with capsules and I'll do the same with Nano. I have dozens of flowermate capsules at home; one of my first vapes was the V5 mini and I had the focus and the storm with the same capsules too. Nowadays it is basic for me

Hey there - trying to figured out how posting works here and the appropriate etiquette with asking questions. I'd gladly take any pointers ;)

On to the actual topic:

I'm really struggling with cleaning the base/plastic portion of the mouthpiece.

The glass part is MUCH easier to pop out than the V5.0 series - no real issues with that - my problem is the two screens in the base plastic piece of the mouthpiece. I can do a reasonable job cleaning the bottom screen and the top screen - my issue is I seem to have crud bouncing around between both of these screens.

Does anyone know of a way to remove one or both of the screens in the base of the plastic mouthpiece?

I have been throwing it in iso for a couple swirls and rinsing it in water, but as an above poster noted, this will probably rot/nuke the mouthpiece with time and doesn't seem to be able to dissolve whatever crud is stuck between the screen sandwich.

I did buy a second mouthpiece and not against buying more in the future - I'd just like to be able to properly clean it - as an aside outside cleaning that base of the mouthpiece, I'm super happy with said vaporizer as a whole.

edit:

I appreciate tvape is evil, but you can see the "upper" screen after the guy hauls off the glass portion. Does anyone know how to actually pop that screen out?

edit2: at 0:49 is when he takes the glass out.. for some reason I can never get the "Start at this point" thing to work..

I never disassemble the plastic part of the MP; so no disassembleing the screens in it; I only remove the glass part of the MP and nothing more. I simply put it on ISO during 30 mins and its full clean after that. I have been doing it during a few mounths in the same MP every week and for the moment no problems in the rubber retaining rings or something like that.

I have to mention that I always use the flowermate caps, so my MP is usually quite clean when I do this process.

I hope I've helped

Thx kindly sir, I guess $12 for a mouthpiece every now and then isn't going to break the bank lol.. If needed.

I still feel like I am missing something with getting one or both of those screens out.. who knows maybe if it gets shit hauled from iso soaking may really "give'er" and see how it works.

The top screen (the one closest to your mouth) is not removable as it is part of the plastic mouthpiece.
The bottom screen (the one in the heating chamber) is. It's retained by a small rubber ring which can be removed by a pointy object such as the tip of a skewer. This gives you access to the stainless steel screen. To remove this, I push the tip of a pin (as used in sewing) through the top screen forcing the steel screen out.
Soak everything in iso. But avoid leaving the rubber ring in for too long as I presume that the iso will eventually degrade the rubber. This also applies to the plastic mouthpiece as there are two small silicone rings inside which are what makes the glass mouthpiece a push-fit. You can see them if you look very closely after removing the glass mouthpiece.
I do this about once a week (I have about three 7-10 minute sessions per day) and the mouthpiece still works just fine. Though I do keep a spare just in case.

I do this about once a week (I have about three 7-10 minute sessions per day) and the mouthpiece still works just fine. Though I do keep a spare just in case.
Woah thx

Will try this in a bit, reasons why I love the net lol.. unsure if I would have tried that approach to be honest - tho I'm using needles to poke gunk out of holes anyway, so this feels like a tiny extension of that.

I'm usually 1-2 10 minute sessions a day. I clean my stuff regularly as I hate hour long deep clean routines.

Have an epic evening/afternoon/day!

And use whatever you like to remove the rubber ring; I mention the skewer only because other tools (small Swiss army knife, sharp needle etc.) may risk damage to the ring over time.
Also, the metal screen can be removed by other means including just tapping the plastic mouthpiece hard on the table to dislodge it. But I find it easier to use a pin.
The whole process takes 5 or 6 minutes.

Cleaning the chamber is another matter. Through some magic, the heating chamber stays remarkably clean. It's really amazing. But, even so I clean it maybe twice a year. I don't scrape it (which is what I've done with previous vapes) as I fear that the magic itself may be removed. Instead, I spend 20 minutes wiping it with a cotton bud (Qtip) dipped in iso.

I suspect that this cleaning regime only works if the vape is emptied immediately after use and while still hot. I unscrew the mouthpiece, turn the vape upside down and rap the mouthpiece hard against the body of the vape both to empty the heating chamber and knock any detritus from the steel screen.
If this is not done, the screen would clog up pretty quickly.

As I mentioned, I've been using this mouthpiece for more than a year, maybe even two, and there has been no noticeable degradation in the rubber ring, the silicone rings or anything else. So no need to get too precious about using 99.9% pure iso.

I'm delighted that you found the tip useful.

The nano really is a great vape at a fantastic price point.

Edit: Note that, unlike dantemaniaco, I vape ground flower.

Cool thx for more advice.

I tend to dump the chamber within minutes of finishing a session, use a similar tapping technique then a few brush swirls and all is well.

Have tons of alcohol wipes so may run one of those into the chamber after a session once every couple weeks.

I'm anal about maintenance of my gear at work, so that seems to extend to everything else I touch lol.

You helped solve my last major annoyance with cleaning the vape!

I had been watching the nano for a while and jumped at sneaky Pete's 50% off nano deal he had on 4:20.
