Could it be used as a occasional session vape with friends? I think so. "Occasional" being the key word.

How many friends are we talking about .... I think it would work well for up to 3 users in a session depending on how good the herb, how it is packed and what charge level the battery is at. It would probably require each user wait a couple seconds between pulls so the oven isn't over-run heat wise. It is a conduction vape after all.

I wish I had more time with it so I had a better understanding of the battery life, how easy or hard it is to over-run the oven, etc.

It would just be 2 or 3 of us, maybe 4 at most but i doubt that, so it sounds like it would be okay.

Based on what ive read, it sounds like its just a shuffled flowermate 5.0s, and i have experience with that, so i sould expect similar performance.

I decided to just go ahead and order one for my sister in law as an xmas present as its within the gist budget. I'll try hers and see if it'll work for me.

Too many choices in general in the vape world. Every time i look for a new vape i get sidetracked by another model after honing in on one.

Yes sorry been away on my honeymoon and now back to work. I only was able to use it for the 1st time last night. 1st impressions - It is light weight , feels some what cheap , the glass mp is pretty thin and seems like it came off a assembly line , only two pods included ( 1 for flower and 1 for concentrate ) more will be needed. They don't hold much . I loaded a pod of flowers , heat up was quick and started on the middle temp which I think is 400F . It took about 5 good pulls to actually start getting some visible vapor from it. When I did I averaged about 10 decent sized hits for the session and it was cashed. I did also get a small amount of plastic taste using it and I did clean everything with iso and a qtip prior to use but did not do any burn offs. I'll need to get a few more sessions in to really give you some better thoughts but for now I am not feeling it to much. I prefer a longer session and not having to pack frequently. The pod gets hot so re loads will take awhile unless you have multiple on hand. I am unsure if I can just directly pack it straight in the oven while not using the pod. Also the glass MP is held in by plastic and not direct to the oven . Similar to a Arizer Air in shape and size but the Air so far would take the win for me. Hope that somewhat helps.

Why wouldn't you? It's a basic FlowerMate afterall no? I never had much success using their pods with flowers tbh. Adds too much inertia and wastes energy heating the pod itself. Plus more of a PITA to clean than just using the oven.

Couldn't agree more .... when I briefly tried it out I didn't use a pod and I liked it better than my other pen vapes.

I guess I'll have to try it , I think a screen will be needed to be added to the bottom of the chamber for that but I will give it a go when I can. I figured I'd at least try the pod out for a 1st time use. Never had a FM. Hope the plastic taste goes away soon.

I was set on the Starry. Then I moved on to the Slick. Then I was on the Nano. Then somehow I ended up owning a CFX instead and will give the slick to my sister in law instead, but I'm still mildly interested in owning a Nano or a slick. Leaning to the Nano.

I got all of them excepted just this one. So I can't say anything about the Slick specifically. But the Nano is not that different from the rest of the line. I prefer the old style mouthpieces as the Nano one has a plastic base (like the Slick from what @Justpassedu said) It's also much shorter which is never a good thing for cooling and taste.

I don't think the black ceramic changes anything, it's black and shiny... probably hides stains better and more stealthy. But is that really a good thing? I mean, if you don't see the stains you'll clean less often and it will smell more so...

But the big plus for both the Nano and this one is (at last) the removable 18650 and USB charging. I wouldn't want a vape without removable cell(s) today.

I would have preferred if the Slick had fully variable temperature, as if the 3 settings are like in the FM5-S, then the lowest one is already too high for low temperature vaping and flavor chasing. Then the two next ones are a bit too close apart. So in practice I often skipped the middle one, going from blue to red directly (i.e so just two used settings)

In practice I rarely use conduction vapes anymore. Once you are used to convection (and if your throat can stand the heat and all that hot air that goes with this heating mode) the taste of conduction vapes is really really bad in comparison. But they are easier to use, you don't have to draw as much, it's effortless in comparison. Battery life is better also...

If I had a single advice to give: tamp your load pretty hard to make a little puck and ensure the puck stays in place making contact with the bottom of the bowl at all times. No need to fill the bowl fully as long as the material is tamped down. Gives much better vapor production. Ah, and draw softly too. The softer the better. And not too long as it's counter productive. Short soft puffs, 30 seconds apart.

I share a lot of the same concerns as you've pointed out here, so I think I'm going to hold off until 2019 and see what may come down the pipe.

I really like the look and features of the Nano, but ultimately chose the Boundless CFX after reading as much as I could on them and their prices being essentially equal on BF.

My main purpose was to have a session vape with a big bowl to use with friends and isn't going to get too hot when used that way. Reading about the Nano, it sounds like getting too hot is an issue, so I decided that cut it out even though I preferred it for the removable battery.

If I bought one now, it would be for a somewhat different and probably more applicable purpose to fill the niche of a discreet and reliable pocket vape that won't break the bank. Looking at the slick more and more, I don't think it fills that niche either because while it's a cool design, it's still fairly bulky and long and in a way it's less stealthy than a Nano would be.

Tough decisions...

imo, FM pods suck. Flowers, extracts, doesn't matter. Direct pack all day!

The black ceramic is just cosmetic, which can go either way. Either you love the cleaner look, or you're like @KeroZen and realize what you don't see.

I didn't use an oven screen when testing mine. But it's different than the V5.0S in that you can't see through the oven into the storage compartment. With the V5.0S any bits went down there for easy cleaning. This design, along with the Nano, denies access to that area. So, if that bothers you, use a screen. The unit can get a little hot near the oven on the highest temp setting, but nothing abnormal.

The mouthpiece is short, but the vapor is cooler than expected. Probably because the highest temp is on the lower side. The Nano can climb way up there, get hot, and taste like ass should you want to set it that high.

I never get excited about testing conduction portables, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one. For $80 you get a small, reliable, easy-as-shit-to-use portable vape with good battery life and replaceable batteries to boot. And it got me high.

2nd try last night with a direct oven pack , put a screen at the bottom , one on top could not hurt also. Much better results than using the pod and after 3 sessions the plastic taste is almost all gone. I got much thicker clouds also and they started after about 5 hits in.

It also requires more material. The thing holds about .3g and packing it less than halfway won't get you anything. Haptic feedback is nice, don't like that you can't open up the mp to clean the screen (gotta soak the mp in iso) like every other model from fm. Gonna test it out this week with friends and fill it completely. If it doesn't fit my taste, I'll put it up in the classy

@TNT_error - I couldn't agree more but what you're experiencing is what I expect from all my herbal pen vapes.

I'd be curious to know what happens when you fill it fully with a fluffy, medium grind where you top it off but don't pack tight. I also give these vapes another 20 to 30 seconds to heat soak the herb once it reaches temp or in between draws.

Yeah this is my first conduction vape in a long time. One herbal vape pen I had that was pretty legit was the imag+. Perfect size and performance was like a regular fm. If it had a screw on mp, it would be perfect

I hope they come out with some different mouthpieces as I agree with you. However I been having somewhat better results now packing direct in the oven with one of the included screens at the bottom and I am sure if one was also placed at top after packing it may help a bit with the mp screen clogging. Try fine to medium grind , pack direct in the oven and tamp it down a bit to fit more. Airflow will be a drop restricted but you should average around 10-15 hits per session after that at the medium temp. It's not a great vape but not so bad for the price imo , I been getting a bit better results lately but still need to sue it a bit more.

Just had a pretty decent sesh putting the slick through water using a Delta 3d universal adapter. Had it packed halfway, got a couple big hits then a few wispy ones even with waiting. Flavors better. It's just not efficient, but I'm probably not going to use it everyday anyways.

Was the vape upside down? The problem with the puck technique is that the puck tends to rise, either due to gravity or because you draw too hard. This is true especially when the bowl is brand new and shiny, slippery I would even say!

I remember that I always had to check that the puck was in place with all my conduction vapes, and be careful not to shake them or draw too hard. I unscrewed the mouth piece every time the vapor felt wispy and every time the puck had risen! I used that metal tool that comes with the FM to tamp the puck back down. It needs to make contact with the bottom of the bowl even if there's no heating element in there.

It depends... with some vaporizers the heat is hotter in the middle (Novae, T-Vape,...) and sometime on the mp end (Inhalater). I think this is cause it depends how the heating element is wrapped/placed around the ceramic bowl. I didn't tested the Slick but tested the Nano, I found this one produce one of the most uniform abv but I'm under the impression T° are underestimated.

Since it doesn't seems very efficient with flowers in regards to the posts above, I don't think it will work well with concentrates...
