I don't remember where I read it but I believe both Rick Scott and Charlie Christ support Amend 2 and I hope that's the case because if this is split down party lines we're going to need all the four leaf clovers and comic relief associates we can find.

Rick Scott is NOT for Amendment #2, no matter what you think you may have read. Both the Gov and AG need to go, in Florida. Scott is Adelson's puppet. It is deplorable, imo, that someone who doesn't reside here can come in and throw millions around to the groveling, whoring, GOP, in an attempt to sway our politics.

Fuck Publix, Fuck the Semblers(mel and betty, Google "Straight inc" to learn more about these child abusers who robbed the taxpayers in the name of drug treatment), and big Fuck You to Calvina Fay and Drug Free America.

Only roughly $600,000 of No On 2's funds have come from "the people", the other $4,000,000+ has come from a seriously small group, Mel Sembler(former US ambASSador to italy), Sheldon Adelson, and the sea-Unts who own Publix. Big pharma money, gambling, and alcohol money blatantly lying to the voters in an effort to sway the vote. Again, the overwhelming support for Yes On #2 shown at the early voting polls says Floridians will not be fooled!!!

PS-- the Charlottes Web bill passed which the liars are using to say, "See, Florida already has MMJ(maximum amt of people who suffer from those type of seizures to be helped is around only 100,000), Yes on #2, just wants to sit around and smoke joints." Seriously sheriff association head Bob Guialteri actually said that at the last debate, almost verbatim.
Don't be fooled to think that bill has helped anyone yet, or will be able to help the rest of us that need/want access to mmj.

Same lies in my state (ak), the opposition is so fearful of this plant that they immediately surrender the moral high ground by spewing nothing but falsehoods. It's also #2, just called a ballot proposition rather than an amendment. Politics in america are fucked; in 2006 illinois passed the first voter suppression (id) bill and now they have these type of restrictions in over 30 states. But oregon otoh is the shining light, the only way they can vote is by mail (only state like this in the usa). Because of this they have the highest voter participation, and the best mj decriminalization bill in the usa (they already have the best mmj laws). I mailed my ballot today as well. I was mistaken that oregon was the only one where voting by mail is the only option, it's like that in two other states -- washington and colorado (hmm...):

Most states offer both, and they are split pretty evenly between states where you can set up permanent absentee status, and states that require that you periodically renew this (may be better 'cause people die). And there's a significant minority of states that do not allow absentee voting (by mail) at all (purple) except for overseas military. The white states(!) are the worst, they do not permit early voting in any form.

All we can do is vote. Please all...they've made it so easy to vote in FL. You can even have a ballot sent to your home and mail it back - no postage required. Not sure if it's too late for absentee ballots, but there is also early voting. Amendment 2 is going to be a lot closer that everybody predicted. I agree with several posts above as there have been "scare" ads all over the TV filled with statements that I don't believe to be true/accurate. These ads have likely been pretty effective in freaking out some folks that previously thought MMJ would be a good thing.

What it's going to come down to is (IMHO)...voter turnout. If it's high turnout, there's a chance 2 passes. If not, this chance may be lost.

That's why Yes On #2 vols have been out for months, signing up people to request an absentee ballot. We know it's a hard group to count on voting, so we tried to make it easier for them to vote. Open mailbox, see you ballot, fill it out, return by mail or at polling place.

I believe it was a similar strategy used by Obama's campaign, the importance of absentee ballots.

Recently, television stations have been airing an ad from anti-medical marijuana group No on 2 titled "It's Nuts." The ad claims, among other things, that voting yes on Amendment 2 will legalize pot and that kids will be able to get weed on their own "without their parents' permission."


In response, United for Care has sent a cease-and-desist letter to every television station that is broadcasting the ad, claiming the 30 second ad is misleading and false. Federal law says that the FCC has the responsibility to prevent commercials that spew illegitimate claims from airing.

One thing many Floridians may not be aware of. A large portion of the opposition("No On #2) are SCIENTOLOGISTS. I would not mention if they were any other true religion, that would not matter to me. But these crazy people are just lying, lying, lying to spread their own agenda. From what i have read, they do not believe in any drugs(except alcohol and tobacco) and reject much medical treatment. We are battling them daily in Clearwater FL. They keep stealing our "Yes On #2" signs out of the ground, are VERY beligerent(watch how they are in the myriad of YouTube videos out there towards people they don't like or disagree with), and love to holler that, "Stoners don't vote", "Potheads are losers", and to our volunteers,they politely wished us to "get cancer".

These are the people who wish to deny millions of Floridians the right to choose medical marijuana for themselves or loved ones.

I can't stand people who butt their noses into other people's business and tell them what they should and should not do with their lives, especially when they are hypocrites. If I caught them stealing a sign, it would be hard for me not to punch them in the face because this is so personal for me.

At the very least, I would snap a ton of pictures of them doing it. I would also snap pictures of them at their car and their license plate since they were doing an illegal thing. (If I could catch them at their car) If they laid one finger on me, they would be very sorry. I may be frail and sick, but I still have fight left in me. For example, was at the grocery store the other day, in line again. I was in a lot of pain, so I let loose on her, "Can you please get off your phone, get your stuff up there and pay? You're holding up the line and it's rude."

Her reply, "Wow, someone really has some issues." My reply back, "yes, I have issues with rude assholes like you that think the world revolves around them! Now get off your phone and check out so we all can do the same, you selfish bitch!" She immediately hung up and got her shit up there really quick, paid quickly too. I must have scared her, LOL The people behind me just smiled. I was only saying what everyone else was thinking and didn't say. I just don't care anymore. I'm sick of these rude fucks.

@grokit --I will do just that this weekend. Sat and Sun, in front of the courthouse in the city of lovely Clearwater, shall be seen, at minimum one sign that says just that. I effing love it!!! Quite possibly 2 bull horns to make sure they can't shout us out, are on their way as well.

FWIW, in the 727, at the early poll places, vocal support of voters going in and out, is much greater than the "latest polls". Each volunteer is reporting very overwhelmingly positive results, so far. Are they 90% like one of our polls this summer showed, no. But, much greater than the 51% some media are reporting.
This is all based on people at the polls expressing their votes to volunteers. It seems each side of this issue likes to let you know where they stand, either before they vote, or after. Friends, I had a half dozen officers of the same city mentioned above, make it a point to voice a YES ON #2 vote to me as they passed. I, shit you not, I had goose-bumps all over my arms each time. Incredible!!

Keep it up Florida, we are now trending upwards and we must get the 60% to pass this thing!!

While I wish Florida's medical population all the luck in the world, I would not get my hopes up too high. 60% is a VERY high bar to achieve. No voter initiative concerning medical or recreational cannabis has ever reached it...or ever had to. The unknown element is, as usual, the undecided voters. Unfortunately, they tend to vote heavily with the status quo. Perhaps in 2016, but I just don't see it happening this election cycle. I REALLY hope I'm wrong.
