Firefly 2 vs DaVinci IQ?

Hey everyone! I'm on the ropes on these two vapes. my recent to living situation prevents me from vapeing indoors with my Evo, so I've had to go outdoors. I've narrowed down my options to the Firefly 2 or the DaVinci IQ and would like to hear that you think!

May I ask why you are deciding between those specifically? It will help people guide you in right direction.

You said you needed it for outdoors, and both are very stealth. Is there more to it than that? B/c if so, there may be others more suited to your needs.

I have a FF2 and while I like the flavor, it can be very finicky and the battery life is terrible. No biggie if you are just going into your backyard for one session, but for anything longer than that, you will need to carry a backup battery, which should go into consideration. I can elaborate more, but again, would like to hear more about what you are looking for first.

Then really seem to be the best in class vapes for the ultra portable scene. While I've owned both the solo, the air and mflb. I loved them all but I wanted sometime a little different. I've always had my eye on the qi at launch. With the holiday deals going on the Firefly has been knocked down in price close to the qi. In terms of efficiency, taste, and concentrate use the Firefly seems to be king.

The outdoors use is mainly around the house and for quick drives. Battery life isn't to big of a concerning me to the both of them having hot swappable batteries. I really like that I can take a few hits on the Firefly and put it up for later.

The learning curve on Firefly concerns me mainly for my fiance who is new to vapeing. The iq seems to be much easier to use while still tasting great. I'm worried that the efficiency isn't up to par.

I do think the new app update has helped quite a bit with the FF2. It’s easier to get to optimum temps and for some reason, I find it easier to use now. I think @RalphsBlend gave some excellent points/benefits in the FF2 thread as well. But it does require a technique. I have many portables that are easy to use out of the box, and this one needs a little patience. If I don’t use it for a while, I need a few sessions to get back on track. However, if I use it regularly, it’s pretty easy to get in the groove. (Also, I only use for flowers, and as others have said, it is great for concentrates, so use my opinion with a grain of salt).

Are you planning on walking and vaping when you said you using it outside or are you just hanging in one spot. The IQ has fantastic flavor but on the go it has to be packed loose or you'll suffer SOB as you try to inhale and walk at the same time. For that reason the GH was better for me but then the grasshopper could only be depended on 2 weeks out of 6 due to the frequent RMA's. I recently acquired a Fury 2 and I would suggest you take a peek unless the 2 units you mentioned are the only 2 you have your eyes on.

I see, in that case you have tons of possibilities. I personally prefer the butane powered vapes but that isn't for everyone

Not big on butane lol. Would you say the flavor and extraction is better, worse or on par with the IQ? Is the battery removeable? It doesn't look like it. How many bowls do y'all get on a single charge?

can't say it's better but different. IQ extracts slower and provides more flavor, Fury extracts faster but the flavor is good but not what I would reach for if flavor is my primary goal. Both produce even brown spent material. Battery is enclosed, mine is brand new so I get 6 bowls with it, don't know what it'll be like in a few months.

I have had both you are considering and ended up sending the iq back.
The iq bowl is too big for solo and the spacers were annoying to use imo.
I much prefer the crafty as a session vape as the capsules are freaking sweet.

I really love my ff2. Watch videos and you can get good clouds from the first use.
I vape at 175c and get very satisfying and tasty clouds. The 3 second warm up is VERY fucking nice,especially after using my crafty (2 minutes).
The iq heated up quick with better batteries (30 seconds or so)
Yes you gotta stir in between but you can leave a bowl and come back to it later and it is still half green. On crafty and davinci the bowl is fully brown after one hit.not full extracted but still...

I did have some charging issues with the ff2 dock(loose contacts) but vaposhop.
sent me the external charger free which I got today and that is a much better way to charge (and I can charge them at work now)
Basically ff2 for max 2 people
For small to large groups crafty/mighty or iq

That's what worries me about Vapes with built-in batteries you'll never know when they go out when they do you're boned! Lol I like the price point of the fury 2 but i think I rather have the piece of mind of a user replaceable battery and being able to hot swap them out

The bowl size on the IQ is a bit much, but I rarely vape alone usually with my fiance and or brother so three people max. I do like the fast heat up time and being able to set it down and come back when I am alone. In terms of your charging issues with the ff2, how long did you have it before you started having issues? I had planned on getting the external charger anyway but not right away. I already have 18650 batterys and external charger for those so if I get the iq I would be set with that.

I think my unit was defective out of the box . That being said my first iq went back to the faulty gasket issue.
If you don't mind a stir in between I think you will be very hsppybwith the ff2 and a bit of patience for the first few sessions.
Long slow draws aren the key and a rough finger torn shred lightly tamped.
My but is stored with boveda 62% packs and clouds a plenty on first hit at 175c

If you are just chilling on the couch you maybe don’t need it or the iQ. IMHO they are probably the 2 most hyped vapes on the shelves and the companies did quite well with marketing. Anyway both have pretty big flaws imho.
I’d take a look at the Tubo Evic thread on portables. It’s a pretty “underground” vape but imho it has everything you need minus the flaws and with an affordable price. It’s not pocketable but it doesn’t seem you require it. Way harder to come across a review of it on the internet, no marketing, but seems pretty good.

I have both. Different usage profile for each. FF2 is my on demand ‘sit n chill’ choice when I want pure flavor and a clear headed buzz. The IQ is a session conduction vape for heavier body buzz.

Since the IQ is conduction once you start you have to finish the bowl. The taste is roasted. I prefer it for a couch lock buzz.

The FF2 is convection. Puff whenever you like. Give it a stir as you go and the flavor stays clean. This is my go-to for ‘chillin n chattin’ with the wife or friends.

I own both the FF2 and the IQ. Unfortunately I am in a state where concentrates are not readily available, otherwise I suspect the FF2 would see a lot more use.

For the FF2 I have an external charger and 4 batteries, so power is seldom the issue. I dislike that the batteries are proprietary. My bigger gripe with the FF2 is stiring and the mess it creates. Sometimes I get lucky and my herb comes out of the chamber all in one piece, then I can flip it over and rotate it for the next draw. Much more manipulation than that and you have herbs all over. Did I mention there is no place on the FF2 to store or carry a stir tool? I know someone mentioned the FF2 is discrete, but I disagree. When you’re using it it looks like your smoking a bowl, I don’t consider that discrete. All those issues aside the FF2 is the benchmark for taste, it is a speacial vape that comes out for special occasions.

The IQ is a great vape. I’d strayed from my IQ for awhile, but have recently returned. As it can be palmed it is very discrete. Draw resistance can be an issue, but usually a stir resolves this. The bowl is large for just me, and I consider my tolerance to be above the median. I’ve tried the spacers, but I am not a fan of those and it looks like they could easily be lost. My friends seem to enjoy the IQ, at least if I have the water pipe piece on it rather than the mouth piece. It produces pretty good flavor and can put out thicker clouds the the FF2. I wish there was more of a catch to the top and bottom doors, but that is nitpicking. 10 year warranty is a big plus!

If I had to choose beteen both of these vapes, I’d go with the IQ. I just ordered an Arizer ArGo and the Storz & Bickel Crafty or Might are on my short list. You could do far worse than the IQ.

Iq i find the spacers works wonders in saving bud or u can do a lightpack, when the draw resistance is not too loose or too tight u put in perfect amount

Go with iq, its very discreet, easy to load and clean, sexy, only con is its too hot to use during summer so better to blow ac max while using it

I've seen spacers on the DaVinci website. I will be mostly using it in the back yard due to my new living situation prevents me from using my cloud Evo inside. I've been looking at the Argo it's super new and there's not a lot of reviews out for it yet.

I've been using organic degummed hemp fiber / organic cotton on the larger capacity bowl / chamber vapes to decrease bowl depth and use less herb in there... if you put the degummed hemp fiber under the herb in the bowl the fiber stays cleaner longer... if you put the herb in first and the fiber on top the fiber will get really sticky fast from the resin collected because the vapor goes through it... I collect that sticky coated fiber and use it as reclaim

That's really interesting!! Do use a high-proof alcohol to get the resin off of the fiber?
