FC Meet Up, 2016 Cannabis Cup, somewhere in CO

Pueblo was the first thing I thought when I heard of the cancellation. Plenty of open space, a decent sized town with hotels and amenities, and they have been embracing legal weed. Check out their scholarship program that is funded by pot tax.

It is about 2 hours south of Denver, but a super easy drive on I-25 the entire way. That would be a trip if the Cup was held there.

So what city is emerging as weed central in co? Certainly not denver!
........................................................

Weed central in CO? How about Central City, CO? :) The language flows.....

Probably just kidding as it's a pretty small town BUT they do have a fantastic shop there (Green Grass- my fav CO shop) and casinos and some lodging for the casino visitors.
But maybe too small. I wonder what kind of numbers we'd get
45 minutes NW of Denver

HAHA! Holy shit guys it is in Pueblo, CO! April 16-18

Tickets on sale next week. This will be great! Pueblo, like Denver has 300+ days of sunshine, and will for sure have some nice weather for us. The Great Sand Dunes National Park is about 3 hours away from Pueblo, among tons of other cool, less traveled spots. This will be great for people to enjoy a part of Colorado they usually might not.

Good on Pueblo! I'm happy to help their economy.

Hmm, not sure where we will stay now. We were planning on going to Denver no matter what, but now maybe we split the time between the two or just stay in Pueblo the whole time.

Me and a buddy already have a room booked in Denver for the 19th-21st, so we sort of lucked out. I think it will work out best if you split your time between both Pueblo, and Denver.

While Pueblo does have recreational cannabis, they do not have many stores compared to the Denver metro area, and the competition in the Denver metro makes for some insane deals around 4/20. We plan to pickup in Denver before we head to Pueblo just so we know we have a good supply of quality concentrates. But we will also be sure to shop at the local shops.

So if you can, maybe spend the weekend down south for the Cup, and then spend some time around Denver for 4/20. There are sure to be other 4/20 events around Denver, and plenty of 4/20 deals. Just my :2c:

How well are the boulder stores stocked?
Do I need to fully supply in denver or can I expect to find good extracts in boulder?

I'll be checking up on weed maps when I arrive, but does anyone have any favorite dispensaries for concentrates?

Going a week early, hope to hit all the hot spots with much less crowds... we will see how that goes.

REALLY hopeful to find concentrates as flavorful as Alpine (Cali).

Boulder will def have quality recreational extracts, the prices may not be as good as Denver but I wouldn't think they would be bad.

As far as dispensaries, The Greenest Green in Boulder specializes in extracts, they are the storefront for the Bolder Extracts company which processes concentrates for many other dispensaries. They seem to put most of their grow into concentrates, leaving only a few strains for flower. Very terpy IME, and just tons of strains and qualities to choose from.

In Denver, Botanico has some really good prices but their trim run is not the best, not bad, but not very stable. Their live resin however is very good and affordable, and their nug run shatter is good too. If you can find some Green Dot Black Label or Incredibles Extracts Yellow Label they will both be very good as they will be grown in house by the extraction company themselves.

Another good bet is to check out Mindful, their in house extraction company is TR Concentrates and they make some good stuff.

That's all just from my experiences and opinion.

Thank you so much for the recommendation, it gives me much more confidence in the supply going in.

Aside from the entire conversation of how accurate the measurements are, do rec stores in Colorado test and put THC/CBD content on all products like they do in the medicinal world of Cali?

Really excited and am going to be lining up every one of your recommendations above!

You are very close to one of the BEST dispensaries in all Colorado, Green Dream Cannabis in Gun Barrel, which is seconds from Boulder. When I was in there yesterday they had at least like twenty different strains and varieties/types of extracts. Sap, shatter, full melt, wax, live resin, fresh frozen, live nectar. They are med only currently, but have already built-out/remodeled for a recreational side as well, which should be open before the Cup.
Boulder Wellness and Terrapin Care Station are also quality run, good rep, nice extract selections to consider. But from my experience nobody has beat Green Dream, the member pricing, top notch staff, and impeccable selection of quality concentrates, keep me coming back every week(Of Note:I work for a company who gives employees almost a 50% off discount and I still purchase 90% of my meds at Green Dream). The flower at GD is top notch(hence the reason they have some of the best extracts around- quality in, quality out)also.

I personally stopped going to Mindful after getting some "moldy" live resin ran by TR Concentrates. I frequented there several times as it was close to my apt, and they had some "blowout" live resin sales that made it hard to pass up. Every strain(shatter and live resin) had this aftertaste of mildew/mold, that some mistake for "earthy" or "dank" tasting, unless you've truly smoked/vaped moldy cannabis before. I don't know if they had excess water/moisture in their live resin which made it mold or what. I would not recommend to a friend that dispensary or the TR concentrates products, not trying to start a witchhunt, just my personal experiences. TR also had products recalled due to testing for banned pesticides used on the material they extracted. It was not their flower that tested bad, they processed pesticide-laden flower for another company who happended to have no regards for their customers' health.

As for Incredible's Extracts, their Black Label is grown and processed by themselves, the Yellow Label is flower grown by the dispensary where you see it at, which was just processed by Incredibles.

Botanico...meh...but there are definitely worse choices out here.

Green Dot Labs
Green Dot Black Label---Flower grown in-house then extracted by Green Dot Labs
Green Dot White Label---Flower grown by the dispensary, but extracted by Green Dot Labs
Make Sap, Live Nectar, Live Sugar, nug or trim shatter. If anybody does it better, week-in, week-out, I'd sure like to see it. Some of the recent pick ups include, SFV OG live nectar, Banana OG sap, Crockett's Confidential, I-95 sap, Orange Cookies live nectar, Strawberry Queen and Wookie sap. Lots of Bodhi Seeds strains, which are some of the best around, imo. ***White label will list if nug run or trim run. Haven't tried any trim run at this time.

Viola Extracts
If you like Live Resin or want to sample some of the best around, look no further. Viola makes some of the tastiest Live Resin out here. They have two varities like many other, grown and extracted all in-house or grown by a dispensary and extracted by Viola. The grey containers both look similar, but on the front near the bottom it will say either "grown by Viola Extracts" or "For XXX Dispensary", the latter not being grown by Viola. I just picked up some Papaya live resin and also some Sour Glue, which are both very potent and incredibly flavorful. Pure pleasure to dab in my experiences. Haven't tried any of their shatter yet cause it's been too hard to pass over their live resin offerings, but it has always looked nice in the display case. It'd be a safe bet to say it's worth trying the shatter also and I would doubt it would disappoint.

Hope this helps a bit. I'll try and post some more mini-concentrate reviews for some of the other companies you may see out here in the coming weeks. Maybe list some eidble info as well. I would also Google "dispensaries using banned pesticides" or something like that so you all can see yourself if you want to give your money to companies who have been quarantined, or dispensaries that had their products quarantined/destroyed. Not all the companies out here(or any mmj states for that matter) have the consumers best interests in mind.

Yeah, products in Colorado will at least tell ya the THC content. They also list the pesticides and nutrients used, which tells all IMO.

And my bad, It's the Incredibles Extracts Black Label that is processed with in-house plants, not the yellow label. And the Green Dot White Label, not the Black. Stupid colors! :ko:

@Silver420Surfer Are Viola Extracts available for rec customers? Always heard of them, but have never, ever seen it live, in person lol. Thanks for sharing your experience with Mindful, as well!

I have not seen it on the rec side at the company I work for, and I'm never in the rec side any where else I shop, BUT, I don't believe they are rec. Rec pricing is insane for good extracts!

@FlyingLow -- You're most welcome.

Livin' the dream out there huh? That's awesome man!

You're not kidding about the pricing on quality extracts for Rec, and then there's always at least 20% tax on top of that. With a med card costing, what $20 these days, it seems to take a fool to be a CO resident but not a med patient.

Does Co. med dispensaries recognize Cali recommendations/paperwork?

Nope.

Actually rec products have much more requirements for testing and listing the results. The irony is that the rec requirements were developed from the med limitations identified. The regulatory board has not caught up to updating the med testing requirements. Pesticides and such are a whole different issue as there are no firm cannabis standards in that realm. However, the lack of standard for testing have raised a lot of doubts for the validity of the tests. This is still an emerging industry.

Is it worth me trying to get my medical? Or should I just enjoy the rec side?

You have to prove residency for a med card, so I don't think it will be possible for a visitor.

@FlyingLow ,
I just checked CO rec dispensary jars from last April and no THC % and no list of nutrients or pesticides.
That leads me to believe such info is optional

EDIT: My bad, after the 15 lines of warnings, they DO LIST what chemicals were used during cultivation.
But no THC %

---Med Card for visitors. I checked extensively and NOT POSSIBLE. No reciprocity and to get a CO med card you have to prove residency and then go thru paperwork.

You'd have a hard time doing that in a short amount of time. Some dispensaries are "dicks" regarding using temporary medical paperwork, which is what you'd be trying to use. Could take up to a month for actual med card to be issued, you get temp paperwork to be able to use in the meantime. You can only shop mon-fri like 9-5pm with temp paperwork, if they accapet it at all.

Ha!Ha! I guess you could say that. 15 year old-me would be pretty darn impressed with current-me, but I don't think that is as good as it sounds lol.

I have an actual mailing address in Co, but sounds like without an actual state drivers license it may be more difficult. Either way, if the rec is good it will all be moot:D

We are now leaning towards just staying in colorado springs the entire week, as it is conveniently located between the two. This way we can go check out the cup the first few days and still do denver on 4-20 at the very least. Only drawback that I can think of is the lack of rec dispensaries in the colorado springs area, but last year we stayed in evergreen and never had any issues running low :)
On initial look we were thinking someplace around garden of the gods may be a good idea?
